My twin came up with an au where Ken is the youngest brother of Coltland Gentry. He calls it Just Coltland Gentry (Just Ken + Coltland Gentry)

Edit: My twin says everyone is free to use this au idea however they like if you're inspired by anything he said you're free to use it (he is begging you to use it)

In a situation where Ryland and Colt find out that Court isn't dead after all? I think everyone assumes Colt will be the one to react in anger. He's not.

Yes, it's true that Colt is brash. He's good at being mean. He yells and is generally the twin people see as quick to anger. He's also, arguably, the more emotionally mature of the twins. He lashes out on his own behalf to push people away after his accident. He picks fights to protect his loved ones. To learn that being told his older brother was dead was a lie would devastate him. There would be no anger from Colt - it would be the stiffled crying and trying to tough it out and a soft why would you lie? and looking like he's going to crumble because his world has had to shift again in a way no one person was ever meant to bear.

Ryland, however. Ryland would be mad. He's mourned this man, has watched Colt mourn, and suddenly that was all a waste? A lie? Him calling the leading scholar in his field a staggering waste of carbon is about to be gentle compared to the righteous fury he would possess. He would cry, yes, but they would be angry tears and he would utter every cop-out he could to avoid cursing, and it would all culminate to how DARE you do that

Colt was the protector growing up after Court was gone. Ryland is the protector now that the threats are more emotional in nature rather than physical. And that, unfortunately for Court, includes whatever bullshit he would try to say as an excuse.

Eridian Grace + Coltland Gentry AU

Swap Au:

Ryland and Colt are both Eridians with basalt and sunstone carapaces, and Court’s is made up of basalt and peridot. The story goes the same for them as Grace still gets separated from his brothers, but with an extended life span, he’ll still have time to go back to join his brothers.

if we follow the idea of the coltland gentry au that they all grew up raised by court's dad in the gray man, then do you think the twins were extremely worried about ensuring the other was safe at all times? especially if we consider the headcanon that ryland was especially targeted by their dad

do you think that extended to sleeping in the same room and ensuring that nothing happened to the other while one of them was asleep?

do you think then that when rocky later down the line told grace that eridians watch eachother sleep to ensure eachothers safety, that grace felt aching familiarity with the concept? but he didn't know why? because he hadn't fully remembered his brothers? do you think he ever fully remembers growing up with court and colt? do you think he lives the rest of his life without an answer to that emptiness that refuses to go away?

me personally i got no clue
