and this might get me some hate, but you’re telling me this is what Niall says to another man (his brother) like an hour after marrying his now husband and people still say that he wanted a way out? that he could’ve had a normal life with Alby? that he chose him? and that if Ruben hadn’t come back, Niall would’ve been living his happy ever after? come on.

The "it's all I've ever felt" line is so important to me, especially as a niallby shipper. It shows the extent of the damage done to Niall, and I think the fact that he says it hours after getting married shows that he's trying to move on from it. It's an addiction metaphor because you choose your drug of choice once, and then it traps you forever. I love viewing Niall's "I need you" phone call in ep2 as inviting a demon over the threshold. "It's all I've ever felt" is exactly what Ruben, and every other abuser, wants to hear. It's the product of Ruben's decades long successful grooming of him. Every abuser wants to hear a statement to the effect of: my life doesn't extend outside of the boundaries of your shadow. Every thought, experience, and relationship I have is measured by the empirical weight of you. And he still marries Alby (!!!)

When Niall describes himself as "chemically dependant" on Ruben, he recognises the self-destructive nature of his draw towards him, and accepts the partial responsibility of an addict in prolonging their relationship.

I also don't think we should ignore that Richard Gadd has (a) been abused and (b) was made an addict by his abuser. And then wrote that line, knowing that most people would know his story. It's not horribly romantic. It's romantically horrible. That's why I love it.

i was just watching the first part of a bbc documentary presented by stephen fry — out there — about what it means to be gay around the world today, and this bit struck me as very interesting. here stephen sits in on a meeting between a coach, who specialises in working with actors who want to tone down certain aspects of their behaviour and voice, and an actor who happens to be a former 90s boybander, and who is also gay.

#sometimes it’s people’s job to coach others in how to be less ”gay” #sometimes those people get taken by their management #because sometimes for them to achieve their full (monetary) potential #people have to hide who they are #and it’s very hard to hide who you are if your whole being is screaming the opposite thing to the person you’re meant to be #so sometimes you need ”help” #sometimes boybanders have to hide who they really love in order to make it work #even if said boybander’s band only go on to achieve very modest success #they still had to hide it #even to the point of not being able to be in certain places #or move their damn hair in a certain way #and i know #I KNOW #that this happened twenty-odd years ago #but can you honestly say things have changed that much? #we /saw/ how they tried to shove jaymi back in the closet #and he was 22 and in a long term relationship and had been out for years #its not so hard to shove someone back in who’d barely been out #and don’t even get me started on the psychological effects of this…. #nearly twenty years have passed and someone still can’t even cross their legs without worrying if it will give them away #even if to the outside observer it doesn’t mean a thing #just something to think about (via thisismyoneluckyprize)

Ok, I know I’m rev logging this twice, but I cannot let it pass without comment. The real kicker for me is not Louis’ face - that alone speaks volumes.

For me it was Zayn tapping Louis on the arm. Zayn’s actions are that of a proud friend. A “that’s all for you, buddy” kind of move. And it happens immediately. It is not a shock reaction. And it is certainly not agitated or upset. It’s casual, friendly, probably something he often does when the boyfriends get all cute and affectionate.

I personally have trouble believing Harry said “I’m in love with Lou, and all his little things,” just because a) i don’t want to get my hopes up and b) i feel like they wouldn’t be that forward but who knows 

But what does make me sit back and contemplate what he says is their reactions.

Like in the second gif of Harry, he is singing to Louis, or at least in his direction. and His eyes don’t leave him after.

And then Zayn taps Louis on the shoulder like “yup” sort of gesture and I don’t really know why else he would tap him on the shoulder like that.

And Louis??? he just looks absolutely shocked. Like he just saw fucking Iron Man come down from the heavens and kick some guy in the balls. and the way his body like just swiftly turns toward Harry, mouth open, and eyes wide. it’s like he doesn’t even notice Zayn, I mean, why else wouldn’t he turn to him as soon as Zayn tapped him on the shoulder?
