I find it at least comical that trying a 'bad' ending for Mickey was how the writers tried to erase Gallavich and move on from the fandom, and how that backfired.Because clearly a man who risks killing someone who hurt the person he loves most, tattoos the name of the man he loves on his chest even after spending half his life denying his homosexuality and he begs not to be forgotten in a painful parallel to Ian's first visit to Mickey at the juvie, of course, obviously that would make us love Mickey less... Of course.
