A Court of Dragons RP

A Court of Dragons is a site set in the world of ACOTAR, just 500 years in the future and on the island of Hybren. We will be adding dragons in it as well (inspired by the Pern Universe). This will be a very member driven site with no characters from either series. We will also be using real life faces and have personalize colored dragons as an option for people who want their characters to impress/be dragonriders. ---JUISOIS

headwoman. 400s years old. high fae.

Juisois just got the job, however it is something she has been training for all of her life. She was trained by the old Headwoman, who was her mother (or adopted mother). Although the former Headwoman isn't dead, they are unable to keep their job for some reason. They have been doing a great job so far, however the former Headwoman has been at their throat always pointing out how they could have done things better. How do they feel about this? Do they want to keep doing things how they were done in the past, or do they want to change things?

--- CAZIS

wingleader. 900s years old. high fae.

Cazis is Weyrborn and impressed to a dragon at Fiacla Weyr. He had issues with leadership and the way things were done there, not being very found of NagaHounds, and after only a few years he put in for a transfer of Weyrs. He is doing much better now at Gialla and his dragon has taken a shine to the current Jr. Weyrwoman's Gold. He never saw himself in power before, but now that he's had a taste of it how does he feel? Since the current Weyrwoman's dragon flew and his dragon didn't win he's been demoted to a Wingleader. How does he feel about that?

This character must be a male character. He should ride a bronze dragon, though a large brown dragon works also.

--- BIVALIELL

wingleader. 400s years old. high fae.

Although young for his position, and his dragon is young as well, they have yet to make a single mistake to make people question them. While in his down time Bivaliell might be more relaxed and playful, the moment he is working it is the complete opposite and he becomes kind of an asshole if things aren't done to his standard.

This character must be a male character. He should ride a bronze dragon, though a brown dragon works also. If you want him to ride a purple dragon you can, though be aware he might not be openly accepted at the Weyr. If a brown or purple he could have also hatched at the Of the Sky hatching in Fiacla Weyr.

--- MOYNIHAN

blacksmith. 500s years old. any type of fae.

Moynihan comes from one of the Courts and has had trouble making the Weyr her home. There are many who don't like her simply because she comes from the outside (if she isn't a High Fae they could look down upon her for that also). However she has fought tooth and nail to get her job, a job that she is actually pretty good at. It wasn't what she did before coming to the Weyr, but it's her job now and she's learning more and more every day.Many wonder why she has stayed at the Weyr for as long as she has. Surely she could go anywhere else and people wouldn't look down on her so much.

--- HILI

nagahound adviser. 400s year old. half fae/lesser fae.

When it was announced that Hili would be the NagaHound Adviser people were shocked. Although he is considered very young for his station, he quickly made it known that he was serious about the position. He feels very protective over his people and wants the best for them. He is very much a man of the people and listens to any and all complaints.

He has bonded to multiple NagaHounds, maybe from the same litter, which made things a little harder for him when they were young.

--- STRAIVAN

weyrfolk advisor. 800s years old. half fae/high fae.

Straivan was born at the Weyr and always says she plans on dying there also. She loves it and will do anything to serve. She was elected without knowing it and was very surprised when asked to become the Advisor for Weyrfolk. She is very knowledgeable about the Weyr and is a jack of all trades, able to step in and help whenever needed.

IF she is a High Fae there could be whispers of why she never became a candidate, both of her parents were/are riders? Does she have no desire to fly the skies, or does she not think a dragon would pick her?

--- TREZER

wingleader. 900s years old. high fae.

As a candidate she was top of her class, so it was no surprise when after she impressed she started moving up the ranks. She is one of the smartest Wingleaders and the Weyrleader has been known to go to her for advice at times. Her ambition knows no bounds and many were shocked she didn't impress to a Gold or Silver dragon. How does she feel about this?

Her dragon can be any color, but if Blue or Green we'd prefer they be on the bigger size for their color. Her dragon would also be older than 10 years old. Could be from the The Sisters clutch if you wanted her to ride a Green.

--- LAMOL

bartender. 700s years old. any type of fae.

Although often overlooked, Lamol knows all of the Weyrs secrets. He bartends sometimes towards the center of the Weyr where there are more riders, and sometimes towards the outskirts were it's more Weyrfolk. He knows just about everyone by name and always has something to say to make you smile. The thing is, no one knows where he came from. He has no family at the Weyr and he just showed up one day. He always has given different stories about his past and people really don't know what to make of him other than that he is cheerful and makes an amazing drink.

Lesser Fae

We have four types of Lesser Fae available to play here on site. If there is a push for more we will consider adding more. Lesser Fae in general have an easier time getting pregnant than High Fae. They tend to age like humans until they hit the age of twenty, with their females starting puberty at around eleven and their males starting it at twelve. Once they turn twenty they start to age slowly like High Fae.

ILLYRIANS

The Illyrians are a warrior race of faeries who are originally from the northern region of Illyria in the Night Court, considered by many to be violent and warmongering people. Over time some have migrated to Hybern and the country has it's fair share of Illyrians in it. Unlike High Fae, Illyrians have rounded ears. They generally have dark hair and golden-brown skin. Illyrians also have a pair of bat-like wings, and are trained to protect these at all costs. Other then the power of flight most Illyrian do not have any magical abilities. Occasionally some Illyrian will be gifted one or more Siphons. A Siphon is an Illyrian magical jewel that allows magic to be channeled. They filter raw power and allow the user to transform their power into something more subtle and varied, into different objects, typically shields, weapons, or armor.

SERAPHIM

The Seraphim are the people of Prince Drakon, a distant relative of the Peregryns. They are supposedly the counterpart to the Illyrians, through their weapons or appearance. They are originally from an island called Cretea, which is hidden from the rest of the world. Over time some have migrated to Hybern and the country has it's fair share of Seraphim in it. Seraphim use metals whose blades glow and are a contrast to the Illyrian blades that are described as dark and ancient. they are completely human in appearance with the exception of their six white feathered wings. Other then the power of flight most Seraphim do not have any magical abilities. Occasionally some Seraphim will be born with the ability of telekinesis, but this is very rare.

PEREGRYNS

The Peregryns are a species of faerie who are from the Dawn Court. They provide Thesan with a small aerial legion. Males and females are equally allowed in their legion. They wear golden armor. They are distantly related to the Seraphim. They are very human looking and vary in over all appearance, however they all have bird-like wings. These feathers can be the colors of any kind of bird, though brighter colors are rare. Wing color tends to run in families. Other then the power of flight most Peregryn do not have any magical abilities. Occasionally some Peregryn will be born with the ability to form telepathic bonds with others, but this is very rare.

HALF BREEDS

All across Prythian there are couples that are different kinds of Fae. While this isn't typical, it also isn't completely unheard of. Mixed breeds can be between High Fae and lesser Fae, or even different kinds of lesser Fae. When it comes to half breeds it isn't a one size fit all. Often times the child will come out looking like one parent, however sometimes they will be a mix of the two. Half breeds of different winged Fae do not mix and match their wings (they can't have one bat wing and one bird wing for example), they with either have the same type of wings as one parent or no wings. Below are some typical traits of each half breed.

Half Illyrians: About half the time Illyrian Half breeds are born with their signature bat wings. Although most have dark wings like Illyrians, occasionally their wings colors can vary (never bright colors). Other then that their appearances tend to be a mix of their parents. If they posses wings they can typically fly like their Seraphim parent and will rarely get the same abilities as their Seraphim parent. They tend to not have any other magic unless their other parent is a High Fae.

Pregnancy is different for every different mix of half breed. Bellow are some complications of half breeds. As a rule Illyrian mothers have the easiest time having half-breed children.

Half Illyrians: For a child to be born half Illyrian and with wings the mother must be Illyrian or the mother will die during child birth. This has resulted in many deaths of High Fae, or other lesser Fae, women who produce offspring with Illyrian males.

Half Peregryns: Due to the soft nature of their wings all female Fae can give birth to Half Peregryn children. They will have to be monitored throughout the pregnancy.

Half Seraphims: Due to the soft nature of their wings all female Fae can give birth to Half Seraphim children. The more wings the half breed have the harder it will be on the mother (unless the mother is Peregryn or Illyrian). They will have to be monitored throughout the pregnancy.

High Fae

Overview

High Fae differ from the lesser Fae by their human-looking appearances, save for their delicately arched ears and slightly longer limbs. While it is not so all over the world, in Hybern most Fae are High Fae. This are because so many lesser Fae were treated horribly while the last king was a live and before that not many live in Hybern. The High Fae are stronger and more powerful than the average Fae, and they may possess unique abilities that vary with their level of power such as winnowing or a trait received at birth, such as the daemati.

Although High Fae are all born with their abilities, they normally don't start to show them until between 50 and 150 years old. They can come earlier, or later, but it is are to do so (since we are allowing members to buy additional abilities if they wish for their characters, IC those characters that get new abilities while being played are considered an anomaly). They will also have the same abilities as someone in their bloodline around 99% of the time.

High Lords/Ladies are High Fae who are tasked with keeping their Court safe and ward off (or kill) monstrous creatures who are in charge of tormenting others. They are essentially the royalty of their court and have more abilities than any other Fae. Each Court has their own, and in the Weyr the Weyrwoman typically has this same level as power just without having rare abilities.

High Fae female's menstrual cycle doesn't work like human cycles. In fact, High Fae have very painful cycles two times a year. High Fae females also reach sexual maturity later than the average human age (somewhere between 18 and 20). It is very hard for them to get pregnant. 

 Typical Abilities

Most High Fae will have one to two abilities on this list (though they can also have none if you'd like). To start with you may only have your character have two abilities. You may buy up to two more from the site store. Typically if they only have one that one is stronger. Each ability should have some kind of weakness or something to balance it out. The more abilities they have the weaker they will all be (this includes bought ones). So if your character has four common abilities they are all going to be much weaker than someone who only has one or two abilities. This of course is not the case for a High Lord/Lady. If you have an idea for an ability that is not on this list run it by staff and if we think it can fit into the site we will add it here.

Winnowing The ability to transport oneself to a different location.

Glamouring Make people see and think things the user wants.

Cursebreaking The ability to seamlessly cut through magical wards and enchantments.

Healing The power to heal.

Air Manipulation The ability to manipulate air.

Water Manipulation The ability to manipulate water.

Fire Manipulation The ability to manipulate fire.

Ice Manipulation The ability to manipulate ice.

Light Generation The ability to manipulate light.

Darkness Manipulation The ability to manipulate darkness.

Rare Abilities

If your Fae has an ability listed here then that is their only ability. Fae may not have more than one rare ability unless they are the High Lord/High Lady of one of the courts (So if your character already has one rare ability, they may not buy another. They may buy up to two common abilities, but remember this will make all three of their abilities weaker). Dragons and NagaHounds also tend not to bond to people with this abilities.

Seer The ability to predict the future with visions and images.

Daemati The ability to control and infiltrate another person's mind. They are able to read, influence, and even shatter someone's mind, depending on their training and power.

Shapeshifting The power to alter one's form and appearance (can only animal shapeshift and only into a specific animal). They may not shift into NagaHounds or Dragons.

Depending on where you are from, and when you are born, many different things might come to mind when you think of Hybern. Those from other lands might still think it as barbaric as when the King ruled with an iron fist or be afraid of its rumored dragons that no one had seen since the first war many years ago. Fae from the country rarely leave, and Fae from other lands rarely visit it so there is little to no information on its current state.

It is a place to be avoided if you can help it. However, to those that live there they see a different side to it.

To those who currently live in Hybern they know it's more peaceful than ever before. Although there are some older fae who still see the lesser fae as less than, more and more fae are becoming excepting of them. With the two Courts that began when the King died there are plenty of social events thrown each year to celebrate their lives. As for the dragons, their riders are living happily in their Weyrs. Sure things might not be perfect, but overall life in Hybern is pretty good.
