REGÉ-JEAN PAGE in Bridgerton (2020-)
Bonus:
Me watching two characters in a modern tv show have sex: Huh okay
Me watching two characters in a period drama let the backs of their hands lightly brush in a moment of emotional intimacy so intense they can’t meet each others’ eyes:
DARTH VADER in ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY (2016) LUKE SKYWALKER in THE MANDALORIAN (2020)
the last of us (2013) & the last of us part II (2020) parallels
“My birthday, my rules.”
If you are angry that ellie didn’t “get what she deserved” by failing to kill abby, i hope you realize that the writers don’t write based on what fans want. they write based on how the characters would react in those situations. yes, you may be angry that ellie didn’t kill abby, but ellie isn’t. she made the CONSCIOUS decision to not kill abby because she realized the closure she needed never lived in revenge. it lived in FORGIVENESS. these are characters who have their own beliefs and morales. understand that they are PEOPLE and act upon themselves and those they love.
this is why the game is so fucking good. a healthy percentage of rating-bombers fail to see it. after multiple times where ellie had the opportunity to kill abby and abby had the opportunity to kill ellie, they both chose to let the other live. the first time is when abby kills joel. she lets ellie live because she wasn’t a part of it. then in the theater, abby lets ellie and dina go because of lev and the humanity he brought back in her. lastly, when abby is completely sunburnt, skin-peeling, malnourished, on the verge of death, and ellie stabs her, slices her, and nearly drowns her, she lets abby and lev go. DO YOU SEE THE POWER IN THAT? Traveling from wyoming to seattle, back to seattle, then to santa barbara, just to find abby and lev stranded at the hands of slave owners. ellie was one second away from killing abby, but let’s go. she breaks down and realizes the monster she has become.
understand that abby is alive because of ellie. understand that ellie finally let go of this revenge mission and forgave joel and herself. she finally let go. to see that growth in a girl like her is fascinating. this is why the game is so damn good. this is why there are 10/10 ratings across the board. dig deep because i can assure you a game like this is life changing through the right lense.
Me, genuinely enjoying TLOU 2 while the rest of the fandom tears itself to shreds

"Potato... Potato. My little baby Potato. [whistles] My Potato, my Potato. My little buddy Potato... What a big boy. Yeah... That's my buddy."

Anyways, rogue one is the best star wars movie

“ I do. Someone’s out there.”
