James Van Der Beek has passed away at the age of 48. He was widely recognized for his roles in “Dawson’s Creek” and “Varsity Blues.” Despite his hopes for a full recovery from cancer, he sadly did not make it. His diagnosis was revealed during a colonoscopy. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

We share the sad news of the passing of Catherine O’Hara, who portrayed the mother in Home Alone. A talented actress from Toronto, Canada, she was also a writer, gaining fame in her home country. She passed away at the age of 71 and will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.

Today marks the remarkable occasion of Dick Van Dyke’s 100th birthday. It’s hard to imagine a more talented actor who has captivated audiences for countless decades. Wishing all my friends in Canada a joyful Canada Day.

This evening, a decision was made for the United States to target three nuclear facilities in Iran in order to deter the nation's nuclear ambitions.

It is imperative that we take decisive action against Iran to convey our serious stance regarding the prevention of their acquisition of nuclear weapons. Our efforts at diplomacy over the past several decades have yielded no significant changes in their behavior.

While I am not in favor of engaging in another military conflict, it is crucial to eliminate the threat posed by nuclear weapons. Iran has a documented history of sponsoring terrorism, resulting in the loss of thousands of innocent lives. By taking this action, we demonstrate our unwillingness to tolerate such conduct from other nations moving forward.

The United States possesses the most formidable military capability in the world. While we do not aim to act as a bully, it is essential to recognize that there are certain actions that must not be tolerated. We must maintain a clear stance on critical issues that cannot be compromised, such as the proliferation of nuclear weapons, the use of chemical warfare against civilians, and the support of terrorism and violence by any nation.

There has been considerable discourse regarding the immigration situation, particularly concerning the standoff between the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency and California Governor Gavin Newsom, along with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

In Los Angeles, various developments are occurring, especially within the entertainment industry and other vital sectors. For example, the hospitality industry significantly depends on the immigrant community to fill essential roles and positions.

The extent of the crisis in Los Angeles appears to have a lesser impact on the broader population than what has been depicted by the Trump Administration, suggesting that the demographic affected was relatively limited. This raises concerns about the necessity of federalizing the California National Guard, implying that such actions may not have been justified.

In addition to the federalization of the California National Guard under federal authority, an extra 500 U.S. Marines were deployed to assist with the situation. The primary objective of this deployment appears to be the protection of federal government buildings from potential threats or attacks.

It is my assertion that a majority of Americans would agree on the importance of removing violent and repeat offenders who are residing in the country illegally. This should be the central focus of ICE raids aimed at tackling crime. However, there are indications that ICE's strategy has been to target undocumented individuals indiscriminately, often in partnership with churches, nonprofit organizations, and other entities.

Regardless of the circumstances, this situation seems to be politically motivated. California often exemplifies issues that escalate to national significance. It is widely recognized that President Trump has a contentious relationship with Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass, primarily due to their differing political affiliations, with Trump being a Republican and Newsom and Bass being Democrats.

There should be a consensus on the necessity of deporting violent offenders who are unlawfully residing in the United States. Individuals who have been in the country for less than ten years should be subject to a hearing to determine their immigration status.

For those who have lived in the country for over a decade, can demonstrate tax compliance, and have not engaged in criminal activity, it would be prudent to create a pathway to citizenship. One potential pathway could involve individuals wishing to serve in the military, thereby contributing to the maintenance of a robust and prepared military force.

In terms of addressing immigration issues, it is imperative for elected officials to collaborate and develop an effective strategy, resulting in a clear and comprehensive immigration policy.

Dick Van Dyke has announced to his fans that he will be releasing a book one month prior to his 100th birthday, which is in December 2025.

I have always been an admirer of Dick Van Dyke. He possesses a remarkable sense of humor, and his acting career has consistently allowed him to showcase his talent and voice in diverse ways.

One show I have particularly enjoyed is "Diagnosis Murder." In this series, he portrayed a medical doctor who assists in solving criminal investigations, with his son Barry playing the role of a detective.

He has a pleasant singing voice and takes great pleasure in entertaining his audiences. I will be more than happy to purchase his book upon its release and will continue to support such a significant figure in the entertainment industry.

It is with sadness that I announce the passing of Jay North, who played the role of “Dennis Mitchell” in the television series “Dennis the Menace” from 1959 to 1963.

This was, without a doubt, my favorite television program. I could watch it repeatedly and always get a laugh out of it. I always thought that Joseph Kearns did an admirable job as the original “Mr. George Wilson.” However, I really enjoyed Gale Gordon, who later played the role of “Mr. John Wilson,” because of Kearns passing away in 1962.

Jay North played the role of “Dennis Mitchell” very well. He was always trying to be helpful, but in doing so, something would always happen that didn’t go according to plan. I much prefer the television series over the movie. The reason being is that the television series showed Dennis was a young child who wanted to do good, but when he did, it wouldn’t turn out that way. It was the intent of the television series to show that it was innocent intentions that wound up being comical.

Jay North was 73. May he rest in peace.

Today is a somber day to announce the passing of the 39th President of the United States, James Earl Carter, Jr.

The former president was instrumental in forging ahead with the Camp David Accords that normalized relations between Egypt and Israel. He also dealt with human rights as part of US foreign policy.

After also establishing the US Department of Education. His wife and he volunteered countless hours to Habitat for Humanity.

Carter died of cancer and was in hospice care before he passed away. He was 100 years old. May he rest in peace.

It's with profound sadness to announce the death of Hudson Meek, the actor who played in the film "Baby Driver," after falling out of a moving vehicle. He was only 16.

A memorial service will be held on December 28, 2024, Celebration of Hudson's Life, at 11:30 AM Central Time at Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama. You may livestream via Hudson's Instagram account or Lani's Facebook page. Way too young to die. May he rest in peace.
