hyorin grew up in a relatively normal household compared to other mutants. she was lucky enough to have a family that was well accepting of her mutation, since both her parents were mutants as well. when she finds that sheâs able to make the school bullies feel pain without laying a single finger on them, her parents make time out of their busy schedules as criminal investigators to guide her and teach her how to be in control of her mutation.
the image of two caring parents shatters when sheâs sixteen. it begins when they call her down to the police station one day after her classes are finished for the day. sheâs led to an interrogation room where her mother sat across a stranger who she assumed was a suspect and is told to sit beside her mother. the stares she could feel behind the two-way mirror makes her uncomfortable and the words that leave her motherâs mouth only adds more to that weight.
sheâs told that the man is a suspect in a murder case of a young girl, the girl that lived three houses down from her and would braid flowers into hyorinâs hair when sheâd come over to babysit. she couldnât find it in herself to say no to her motherâs request. so she, along with her mother and the other people standing behind the mirror, watches as the man starts to writhe in pain, screaming incoherent words begging her to stop. a gentle hand on her shoulder causes her to stop and the man falls back on his chair like a rag doll.
âthe confession has been made, hyorin. thank you. officer kim will escort you back home now.â
that was only the start of what becomes a weekly routine for her. return home from school, do homework, get interrupted by a phone call, squeeze confessions out of suspects, get praised, go home. rinse and repeat.
she learns that her parents werenât guiding her because she was their daughter, but because she was their weapon.
after six years, she puts a stop to it when she witnesses a falsely accused man go mad before her own eyes, the pain inflicted on him being far too strong and overwhelming for his brain to handle. they donât let her move out after high school, so instead she begins ignoring the calls, staying over at her friendsâ apartments when she can, telling her parents that she had an important test coming up she needed to study for. once sheâs graduated from university, she cuts off all ties with them and moves out for good this time, applying for the open position at xavierâs.
itâs not enough to ward them off completely at first, but after countless of ignored calls and text messages, they stop bothering and sheâs finally at peace.
PAIN MANIPULATION is the mutation in which the user can sense and manipulate mental, emotional, and physical agony, pain and suffering, whether increasing, decreasing, causing or otherwise changing pain, even manifesting the emotional energy to a physical level.
strengths:
pain illusion and pain inducement are her two strongest abilities. while pain illusion is limited to simply making her target believe they are in physical pain, pain inducement actually allows her to inflict varying levels of pain on them. she can drive the victim mad with overwhelming pain and can even cause them to pass out.
she can inflict pain on others by inflicting harm to her own body. this is called mirrored pain. so with every attack she deals with, the damage is reflected to her opponent. she can also transfer pain from one person to another, whether it be physical or mental pain.
pain suppression is another thing she can do, which allows her to suppress pain inflicted onto her at will and she can tolerate pain better than most can. along with this, she also can amplify pain.
she can also detect pain and gain an understanding about the pain the person is sensing.
psychic torture is something new, but similar to pain illusion. unlike pain illusion which gives the sensation of physical pain, she can torture victims mentally and spiritually by tearing them apart from within.
weaknesses:
has yet to unlock a few abilities: pain aura, pain constructs,suffering absorption, and pain and suffering empowerment.
mirrored pain can cause damage to her own self if she were to use it on someone with power negation.
pain transferral does not apply to wounds, just the pain itself.
those who are users of psychic shield and invulnerability are harder to affect with some of her abilities.

Born in a household with four daughters, being the third daughter to parents who were always too busy working to keep their wealth. The sisters were often compared to the four beauties of ancient china. They were poised, well mannered and educated young ladies. Bora was compared to Diaochan whose beauty was said to cause even the moon to shy away. The only catch was among the four beauties was that Diaochan was the one with no evidence of existence. Thatâs what Bora later on learned, her existence was nothing to her parents.
Bora started showing signs of her abilities at a young age of seven. First, she considered them as dreams but after telling people whom she accidentally performed her abilities on, they started considering her a weirdo and so she kept her mouth shut about her difference from the rest to avoid judgemental looks and isolation.
Learning more about her difference from the rest, Bora made sure to keep her studies about the symptoms of her âdifferenceâ away from anyone else but she tries it every once in awhile just to make sure it was not some kind of dream.
At the age of eighteen, she was considered as a promising future national figure skater. That was when she got in a car accident with her first boyfriend. Bora took most of the blow but she and her boyfriend survived the crash. Only that Bora was under comatose. She was awake in her head, able to hear every single thing but canât move her body. Not even her fingers. She focused on someoneâs touch then and she was able to see herself in a bad condition. She later then found out she was in her cousinâs body. Living day by day in her shoes, like she was watching a movie but what she didnât expect was that secret the accident was planned by her cousin and her boyfriend so that her cousin could take her place at the competition that was supposed to take place in a month. Tears sprung out of her cousinâs eyes and so did from hers. The overwhelming emotions evoked strong will from her to wake up and after experiencing darkness again, she wakes.
At twenty, someone came ringing their doorbell and looking for her. It felt like a joke when she was told they know what she really was. She may look like a normal young lady who smiles brightly, but sheâs different. She understands how you feel. She can feel what you feel. Literally. Thus she was shown things that were not normal for peopleâs eyes. Assured that there were people like her somewhere else, Bora then gives it a shot. Only to find home. A place that wouldnât discriminate her for her difference, instead, welcomed with open arms.
STRENGTHS:
Being able to sense through not only humans but also animals.
With advance training, the user can have the ability to control the targetâs senses completely.
This power grants the user with the ability to taste, feel, smell, see and/or hear from others senses. With proper training, the user can use the ability for a longer period of time.
It can be used at a great distance, depending on how strong the userâs mind is.
WEAKNESSES:
Users own body may be helpless while they are using someone elseâs senses.
May take damage as target does.
ie. if the target was shot on the arm, the user could experience the same pain as the target. The pain could last for a while even after departing the targetâs body.
May experience everything the target does.
Users could end up trapped in their targetâs mind but could also be shut out by the target with strong will.
User may experience severe headache due to mind stretch.

TRIGGER WARNING. parental neglect.
Kim Sejeong was always a bright and happy girl. A girl who was told she was pretty by the adults, while still being strong and tough enough to roughhouse with the boys. She was caring for others, often standing up for those that needed standing up for, even at a young age. Though that didnât mean there werenât tough times.
To her, it wasnât anything worth wondering about to her until other kids brought it up. âYou donât have a dad!â they teased, though it only served to make her more curious than offended. Sejeong had always felt that her mother was enough, so why did it matter that she didnât have a father at home? Her mom always took care of her when she needed it, so why did it matter so much to everyone else?
âMom? Why do the other kids tease me about not having a dad? Why donât I have a dad?â
It wasnât an easy question for her mother to answer. She thought over the years that sheâd be able to come up with something a bit more positive, something that would make it seem like there was a good reason why Sejeongâs father hand not stuck around, but she couldnât sugarcoat it, but she could wait until the girl was a little older.
âJust you never mind them, Sejeong. Iâll tell you about your father when you get older.â
The years continued to pass and Sejeong entered her thirteenth year of existence, minding her motherâs words, though her curiosity had only grown over the years with her. Her mother decided she had waited long enough.
âSejeong, come here please.â
Sejeong joined her mother in the living room of their tiny apartment, taking note of an old shoebox on her motherâs lap. She had seen it from time to time, but any time she inquired about what was so special about it, she was told the same thing, to never mind it, sheâd be told when she was older. Her mother pat the seat next to her, which she took, then nervously opened the shoebox. It was full of old pictures, pictures that Sejeong had never seen before, of a man she had never seen before, as well as a little boy. As Sejeong looked through them, she found a picture, the young boy was hugging onto her motherâs very pregnant stomach while the man looked proudly at the camera taking the picture.
âThatâs your father, Sejeong. And your older brother.â
The shock on Sejeongâs face spoke volumes as she learned the truth, that she was missing half of her family. She never once had thought sheâd have a brother, never once thought that that could be possible. âButâŚyou never told meâŚâ
âIâm telling you now. Your father, he leftâŚâ she trailed off, tears filling her eyes as she spoke. âHe left and took your brother with him, because of meâŚbecause of us.â
It hurt, it hurt in a way that Sejeong hadnât felt before, a mixture of sadness and anger was washing over her. âBecause of us?â Her mother nodded, her hands shaking as she took the photograph from Sejeong and recalled more.
âTheyâve told you about mutants in school, right?â she asked, wiping some tears from her eyes. âSome mutants, they look normal, others donât, some have no problem with what they are, some hide it. Your father knew that too, but all of the hysteria at the time, it got to him. He kept on ranting and ranting about mutants being a danger and I couldnât take it anymore. I told him. Iâm a mutant. My mom was one, my grandmother, her mother. Itâs passed along in the females of our family.â
Sejeong started understanding slowly where this was going, though she didnât want to believe it was true. âAre you sayingâŚ?â
Her mother could only nod in response, her tears flowing freely again. âHe tried, Sejeong, he did, we were doing well, you know? He loved me, he really did. When we found out I was pregnant, he loved you too, I promise you that. He started changing, for the betterâŚâ she looked at the picture, a meloncholy fondness in her expression. She put the picture down, and dug through the box some more until she found a newspaper clipping. âThen a mutantâŚno, a crazy person who happened to be a mutant, killed and hurt a lot of people, including your fatherâs coworkers. It was the same day that we found out you were going to be a little girlâŚâ
Sejeong shook her head in disbelief, not wanting to think that she was the reason behind all of this. âButâŚâ
âHe came home, took your brother and said that he was going where no one would find them, that he knew his boy wasnât a mutant and that he never should have trusted me, that our kind was evilâŚâ she hung her head for a moment, only piking it up when Sejeong stood up from the couch. âSejeong, none of this is your fault, you know that, right? Your father, he wasnât wellâŚâ she got up and attempted to hug her daughter, to comfort her in the way she always had, a motherâs loving embrace. But she couldnât. Her arms went right through her, like she was a ghost. âSejeongâŚâ
The girl had known for a couple days about her own mutation, but was afraid to tell her mother. She didnât know the full spectrum of what she could or couldnât do, and obviously, in this moment, wanting to hug her mother back, but not being able to, she didnât know how to fully control it yet. Finally with a gasp of breath, she popped back to her physical form, a crying mess, and collapsed into her motherâs arms.
The following weeks were ones full of recovery. Sejeong had a lot of anger in her at first. Anger for her fatherâs actions, anger at her mother from keeping this dark secret from her all this time, anger that she ws a mutant herself, though she didnât really know what it was she could do fully. Once the shock wore off little by little, she started getting back her usual She realized why her mother didnât tell her, it would have been harder to take if she wouldnât have been able to comprehend it. She wasnât dumb, she had heard the way people talked about mutants, she just never thought it would be about her.
That being said, someone knew.
Soon, a recruitment came to Sejeong. A special school for people like her to learn more about who and what they were. She was a bit hesitant, if she went, it would leave her mother all alone in the house with the ghosts of her past weighing on her shoulders as heavily as they had all those years without Sejeong to help with the burden. Her mother saw it differently, however, wanting to let her daughter live with others to learn to love her new changes. She wasnât ashamed of being a mutant and she didnât want Sejeong to be either.
Sejeong accepted the admission and joined the school.
Sejeongâs  main ability is the ability of Intangibility, or the ability to phase through solid matter, or have solid matter phase through her.  This allows her to pass through walls, as an example, or to avoid being hit by attacks.This allows herself and the material she passes through to remain unharmed. She can choose to make parts of her body solid or intangible as she would like, for instance, making her arm intangible to reach through a door, only to make her hand solid enough to grab someone, becoming intangible again to bring them back through.  She passes through material at the same speed she entered it, not being hindered by the material.
Other Applications:
Intangibility Extension - Sejeong can make other items intangible, such as her clothes, up to two other people currently (as long as they are physically touching her), or other objects up to the size of a small truck as long as she can continue to touch it. As she learns more about her power, she might be able to increase the amount of people and the size of objects that she can extend her power to. Â
Intangibility Disruption - if she passes through things that have more complex electrical systems, such as computers, under the hoods of cars, etc., as her power is made possible by changing how the electrons in her body flow, this may cause these devices to short out or be destroyed as they are unable to adapt to the change. Â Standard electric systems, like wiring in walls, does not seem to be affected. Â
âAir Walkingâ - Â While phased, Sejeong does not actually walk on surfaces, but interacts with the molecules of air above them. Â Basically this gives her the ability to ascend and descend as long as she remains phased.
Sejeong can only phase for as long as she can hold her breath. Â This prevents her from being able to use her air walking to fly, for an example, or she may not phase through to the center of the Earth or anything that would take her longer than she can hold her breath. She has to be careful how long sheâs in an object, or how far she attempts to travel in that way, or else she risks being spliced into whatever object sheâs in.
Has no immunities to mental attacks or magical attacks, while phased or otherwise. Â If she can not phase in time, she has no immunities to getting hurt by physical or energy attacks either. Â In addition, if she were put into a situation that someone were to put an object in the same space as where she would become solid, itâs possible for that object to lodge in her, causing injury or death. Â
If hit with an electrical attack, it can cause her phasing to disrupt, causing her to solidify and be damaged. Â
Anyone that she uses her power on to extend her intangibility to them as well are under the same restrictions. Â That means that anyone she brings with her into that state can only be done so for as long as she can hold her breath, or they could become solid in a place they might not necessarily wish to be, like fused into a wall, for example.
