It has been an interesting year thus far when you consider the recent weather we have been having. Lots of work and upgrades to the @trackerboats and a few tweaks to my @minnkotamotors and things seem to be coming together. It was a short outing mainly out to double check to make sure new set up is all in order but let’s face it when the fish are biting you simply cannot resist. @missvyvey had a beauty #northernpike in the boat before I even had my line wet. Turned out to be 2 hours of the most fun you could imagine on the @bayofquinte . We end up boating several fish and had a #memorable #evening . It was an incredible morning and well worth the drive. Got on the water by 5am and we had a boat full of Walleye by 6am including this 30.5 x 15.5 inch 12.1 lbs Walleye. The year of the #hawg happened for many on @bayofquinte but I could never execute on the right bites. I did ice well over #100 #walleye on the season and did manage to land my #pb #jumbo #perch . I have a confession. When most see that fluffy white stuff you cringe in disappointment. Personally myself if I see it this early in the year I start to wonder if #christmas will come early for #2019 #icefishing #season . I always ask for the same thing every year which is “safe ice” to fish on before Christmas” . It has happened in @bayofquinte more frequently in the past years than most would think. FedCup turned out to be an improvement from 2017. I started off day 1 with 11.92lbs which was the average for day 1 and kept us in the middle of the pack. Day 2 we shifted gears and targeted #smallmouth . The gamble paid off and we came in with 15.66lbs of #bigrideau #smallies . I caught some quality keepers on a Shad pattern #crappiekiller . Moved me up to 16/80 #coanglers . Keeps me in good position to have a chance to qualify as one of the top 6 co-anglers to fish the #tbf regionals in September. #ricelake is the final joint event and I can’t deny I will need some help as I would say Rice Lake stands as a Lake that has always got the best of me. #muddbuttbaits#missionTOP6 #fishing4points #passion4fishing @quintebassanglers @muddbuttbaits

So I don’t typically stop fishing to take a picture when it’s not a #bass but this #bowfin was a #beauty. Although not invited it was a pleasant although frustrating surprise late in the day. What else would Tyanne Sim and I do on #CanadaDay2018 other then get out in the #water . Zachary Morin made the long trip down to join us as he was pumped to get in on some #lakeontario #smallmouth action. The day started out with a bonus #largemouth that was hanging out under a tree close to the launch. From there we tried a few different spots but we could only mark fish that were not interested in what we had to offer. As we were running to another place I had an area catch my eye so I pulled into a shoreline area that turned out to have fantastic cover for fish to live in. After only a few minutes we started to see fish cruising around the boat and after a few minor adjustments the #dropshot fired up the school. Well #christmas2017 came early to say the least. Many people asked me what do you want for #xmas . My answer was consistent #ice is all I want. Well as much to my surprise as many others the cold weather has tightened the #bayofquinte up and conditions are improving daily. The best part was the #walleye were #hungry and I am now super #stuffed after a fantastic #fishfry .
