A Day in the Past | Sara & Adam
s--estrada:
Same old day, same old kids, same old crappy school. Sara sighed as she plopped down in her chair at the library and relaxed back, slipping on a pair of headphones. Why things were always so dramatic, she’ll never understand. Lily Hudson was on a warpath because her and her boytoy broke up…again. It was why it was good to be quiet and enjoy not being the center of attention, you go by unnoticed and out of the drama.
Pulling out her ipod the young brunette turned on some music and kicked back, cracking open a book. It was so easy for her to get lost in books. The information their pages held and how it felt in her hands as her fingers caressed the paper. There wasn’t a better feeling, to be honest.
Her bliss was short lived as movement flashed across her vision. She looked up to see a face she never expected to see. He seemed to be out of breath and trying to hide from something. Sara earmarked her book and shut it, pausing her music to bring her attention to him. He was Lily Hudson’s boy toy. Her lapdog. “Hiding from the raging bitch on steroids,” she asked, a slight smirk gracing her features as she wrapped her headphones around her ipod and picked up her book again.
Adam was unsure whether or not the library had become a prison or a refuge in the past few days. It certainly was the best place he had found to, for lack of a better word, hide from Lily. First, he knew she never would enter the library unless someone was twisting her arm to and, second, as long as he got the corner table behind the furthest shelf, no one could see him if they were just passing by. But the library was steadily growing more and more monotonous, he realized. The same people everyday, hardly any conversation -- it was becoming almost painful to just sit and wait. He was stuck in between a rock and a hard place, picking boredom as the lesser of two evils.
Adam sighed as he reached to pull open the door to the library. He knew that he couldn't hide forever -- it would drive him crazy eventually -- but until he got it into Lily's head that they would never ever be getting back together, or she decided he wasn't worth chasing, it would have to do. Walking in, he raised his hand up to wave hello to the lady behind the desk, before heading towards his preferred seat. Despite recognizing more than a few people, he didn't stop to talk to anyone. The point of his hiding out was for no one to know where he was, or at least no one who might mention it to Lily -- which was a very small amount of people, considering that so many had been introduced to them as a pair. Lily and Adam. Adam and Lily. The very thought of that made him cringe, and he wasn't ashamed to admit that he was upset at how serious they'd become so quickly.
Lost in his thoughts, and a grimace across his face, he faltered when he saw that someone was already sitting at the table he had claimed for himself the past few days. He had seen the girl before a few times before, both at the library and in the school halls, but he had never seen her sat back at that table. He considered his choices of what to do for a moment, before decided no harm would come from joining her. He pulled a chair out from under the table and quickly took place sitting directly across from her.
“Hiding from the raging bitch on steroids?”
His first instinct had been to defend Lily despite their being broken up. “She’s not a bitch.” He sounded tired, and he glanced over his shoulder out of habit. “But yeah, hiding. Unfortunately.”
