Had so much fun last night, and only now feeling the sadness creeping in. The final #underyourinfluence at @thehifibar although bittersweet, may have been my favorite. Always grateful to Mike Stuto and his wonderful bar that felt like home. Thanks to @ofbirdstreets @bubbledavefoster + Murderers Row, Don Piper and the truckload of amazing musicians and friends that made this night (and all the other 11 episodes) so special. #riphifi (Also thanks @efram_photography for taming those blinding lights and delivering a nice pic). HiFi is closing it's doors forever--so we're celebrating heartbreak with a hasty last minute tribute to The Heartbreakers -- and their rebel leader #TomPetty (This one co-piloted by @bubbledavefoster, @ofbirdstreets, and @thehifibar). Mike Stuto entered my life when he booked @fiveyeardiary there in 1996 (when the bar was Brownies) and I've been hanging out there pretty much ever since. Needless to say it will be an emotional night. Thanks to Mike for allowing us to make sloppy self-indugent noise at his bar, and for changing the landscape of the East Village music scene for so many years. Maybe fake news -- but to me, HiFi feels like the last shrine to true rock n' roll in all of NYC. I will miss it. (at HiFi)
