17. Neji clearly rejects girls who approach him
Neji always kept a distance between himself and the other girls, but not with Tenten.
Chuunin Exams Arc : the scene where he rejected Ino and he tried to kill Hinata (he advised her to give up on several times, but she didn’t listen to him).
Episode 412 : this scene ↓
(Tenten’s reaction : she suddenly loses her smile ↓)
(Neji’s reaction : he is very embarrassed ↓)
(When Neji asked Fuu to let go of his hand, Tenten smiles again. ↓)
I also think Lee was aware of his two teammates’ feelings, because he always leaves them both alone together. It’s so obvious that Neji and Tenten are made for each other. They make a perfect pair. Without Tenten, Neji is ‘alone’ and without Neji, Tenten is ‘alone’. ↓
What I mean by alone: If Tenten hadn’t been there for Neji when he was in the dark, Neji would have taken the same path as Sasuke at a very young age. Perhaps he would have already killed Hinata and deserted the village, or perhaps he would have committed suicide ?
Like I said, Tenten is her balance. I’m pretty sure if Tenten had been present during his fight with Hinata, he would never have tried to kill Hinata. This episode showed what Neji could look like if Tenten wasn’t there. And Kiba said it, Neji is cruel (but not with Tenten).
At that moment, Neji was like the raging waves and Tenten was there to calm those waves. She brought out the best in him, he is naturally calm by her side. Naruto doesn’t have this role. Naruto only helped Neji open his eyes, he brought the light (he gave him hope). Plus, Neji admires Naruto for being so stubborn and challenging his fate. He is a role model for him, just like Tenten who admires Tsunade
Neji understood there were several paths to reach his final destination and that he was the only one to choose what he would do with his life.
“Father, is a person’s destiny a thing like a cloud flowing with an inescapable flow? Or can a person choose the flow he wishes… I still don’t know the answer to this. Either way the destination may be the same in the end. However by choosing to live like the latter, a person can live and strive towards a goal. And in this match I have finally understood those who have that are truly strong. Father, I have but one goal, I want to become stronger… Enough not to lose to anyone… That’s how I feel. Father, the birds are flying freely today… They look so happy.” - Hyuuga Neji.
And what happened after ? Tenten came to visit him. The reference between birds is strong between them. (If you didn’t know, Kishi likes to put implicit clues in his manga)
18. Tenten’s love interest hint
This reflection is based on the first part of Naruto show when Tenten said in her mind that Sasuke and the Prince of the land of Birds were cute..
Episode 21 : the first time she saw Sasuke (I like SasuTen duo too 😁)
Cursed warrior Arc (Episodes 162-167) : the first time she saw the Prince of the Land of Birds
So, if you combine these two types, you get Neji 🤣 . How ? ↓
First, take Sasuke, he has the same stony attitude as Neji. Really, Sasu and Neji are similar on several points : smart and hot guy, doesn’t like to talk too much, belongs to powerful clans, arrogant (in the beginning), not comfortable with feelings, etc. (I like Neji and Sasuke duo)
Tenten seems to like the bad boy attitude like a lot of girls.
Then, take the Prince of the land of birds… Tenten didn’t know, but in fact, it’s not a boy, it’s a girl who took the place of her twin brother ! B.. But, Neji’s long hair…
So, Neji is clearly her type of guy !
In Shippuden, Tenten stopped commenting on the boys’ good looks, perhaps because her relationship with Neji has evolved and became more ambiguous ? 😂
Did they make a promise to each other ?
Look at Neji’s pose ! He took the nice guy pose ! Do you know what that means ?
Remember the first part of Naruto, the ‘Sasuke Recovery Team’ (episode 27). Naruto took the nice guy pose in front of everyone to make a promise to Sakura. And when you took this pose you are sure to keep your promise.

So, this frame where Neji adopted the nice guy pose could be a memory of Tenten before the war or during a break in the war.
It makes sense. Neji made a promise to Tenten, and she can never forgive him because he broke his promise… (A/N: no, I can’t analyze this scene because I support the idea that Neji is still alive. 😭)
But in short, this scene is deeper than we think… I think Neji’s drama was not planned and Kishi changed the whole plot at the last minute (this is why the scene is poorly written and inconsistent with the Naruto talk no jutsu during his fight with Neji). So, this scene with Tenten is meant to show her relationship with Neji :
“Neji, why did you leave me ?” → They were very very close.
Neji picture with the nice guy pose → His promise and how he was with her when they were alone.
Her tear → She would like to cry, but Neji reminds her of the priorities of the war. (She knows Neji perfectly, and she therefore knows what he expects from her)
Tenten is surely the one who is the most devastated because she lost the one with whom she shared all the adventure since the beginning of Naruto show.
Then, at the end (of the worst fanfic I’ve read written by Kishi), she’s single because Neji is.. (waiting for a resurrection). This clearly shows that she was meant for Neji from the start, and that Kishi wrote them for each other. But, money and fake polls (SP and SJ) changed his script 😒 (I tell you if NaruSaku happened, Neji would be alive and end up with Tenten).
Naruto was a good manga, the storyline was well constructed in the first parts. Then the author lost control over the writing of his work and from the 4th Great War, everything became bullshit, unrelated to the beginning of the story.

20. NejiTen conclusion in Naruto show 😥
NejiTen was supposed to happen ! And this scene is the proof (another proof among many)
“The fact that I’m ALIVE” Neji said.
Neji was supposed to be alive !!! THIS SCENE IS THE REAL SCENE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE !!!!!!!!!!!
Remember what I said above about a promise. In this scene, Neji arrives to say that he kept his promise and that they can be together now. He’s ready to change the Hyuga clan. Break the old rules and bring renewal !
!! NejiTen was supposed to show that the ties of the red thread are stronger than anything !!
This physical contact sums up all the other physical contact they have shared in the series !
It shows how close they were. Plus, Neji places his hand tenderly on Tenten’s shoulders. You can feel the passion, the love in this gesture and his voice.
Really, this scene brings together all of NejiTen’s moments throughout the series. It brings together all the feelings they both shared, the intensity of their feeling.
Tenten looks at the Neji of this world. But the one she sees is the real Neji ! She is reassured because Neji is alive ! The REAL NEJI IS ALIVE !
And this is where Naruto ended for me. Neji is alive with Tenten by his side.
Don’t forget this is a shonen, romantic love isn’t the central interest of the anime. And Neji and Tenten were just the secondary characters. So, that kind of attention actually means a lot more. (Plus, Naruto was released in 1999, and Japanese culture is different from western culture. So, things were different before and now)
Guys if you find your Neji or your Tenten in real life, don’t let him/her go.
