The true projects I put energy into are Owl City, Sky Sailing and Port Blue. The titles of each are merely two words put together that, to me, conjure up a great deal of imagery and thus, are inspiring in and of themselves.

lol hi guys it's been like 3 months

interviewer: hey gurl

adam: hey great to be here wOW

interviewer: so youve got a new song out. good time. tell us about good time. did you hang out with carly rae jepsen or. how did this happen tell us

adam: hahahah its very funny i wanted to write a fun dancey pop song and i thought to myself who would be a good choice to sing with me and it turns out my manager grew up with her manager so i sent her the song to add her vocals to and i never had to meet her wow isnt technology cool

interviewer: so you grew up in a small town. you made fireflies in your parents’ basement. tell us about this

adam: says stuff that basically translates to “im a dork”

adam: i worked in coca cola factory lol. now im living the dream. so magical. so surreal.

interviewer: whats it like having a hit song

adam: I TURNED ON THE RADIO AND THERE I WAS

interviewer: why is it called owl city

adam: cuz it is nice imagery srsly thats it

interviewer: fun zany ending question

adam: uhhh lol idk hahahahaha

 ❞  Ironically the only creative atmosphere I’ve ever known has been alone in a dark basement studio so I didn’t want to mess with that because I never want making music to feel like work. I’m not the greatest mixer/engineer in the world and I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a music genius but that’s not what’s important to me.

❞ At the end of the day if a song does half as well or a fourth as well I’ll still be totally happy cause what was written about the next chapter as Owl City feels very right; so regardless, if everyone loves it and it does great then wonderful.

For me it’s always been making the kind of music I’ve always wanted to hear, or to hear someone else make. Owl City is something I started to make with an inherently optimistic sound.
