“If you had paid attention to me and my life at all you would have realized that I’m already dragging myself down. That I’m killing myself but you got your head so far up your ass that I’m surprised you can see anything. Get over yourself. You act like you’re the only one doing dark magic in this town but you’re not. You’re not the only one consumed by the darkness.” She glared at him, her emotions overtaking her. Without realizing what she was doing, she caused the windows in his house to explode.

Adam didn’t even cringe as the windows exploded. He didn’t even respond to her. He just let her rant, yell. She had to get it all out. Any chance of a beginning to a recovery - it started with that. Started with a beginning release of magic. He had released most of his magic with his immortality spell. His immortality spell was an act of a tantrums. Now, she needed to throw a magical tantrums.

Warm ash fell around them and he held his bleeding head in a daze. “Shit.” He grumbled, all the anger and malcontent blowing away with the rest of the debris.

“One of these days my rash decisions will get me killed.” He admitted, in a low grumble. “Thanks.” He begrudgingly said as he rolled away to get some distance from the man.

Glancing over at him, Adam released a small sigh and nodded. “It just might get you killed...” He said simply in agreement with him. He slowly pushed himself off the ground and went to step away. “Welcome... Friends don’t let friends get killed...” He chuckled a bit awkwardly.

Releasing a small sigh, Adam went to take a small step back. His eyes scanning the damage and destruction before he felt a bit light headed and stepped back almost falling when he caught himself on a large tree branch. “Shit...” He mumbled. He wasn’t supposed to use magic. He used magic. Dumb-ass... He cussed himself mentally.

Magic’s Pull || Colin & Adam

Colin listened to the young man. He’d encountered darkness before, but mostly within the hearts of hunters in their endless battle to just keep their way of life. The witches that worked with it didn’t measure up to what he’d seen in the heart’s of mortals, but he kept that to himself. Colin moved to the window to shut it as he listened.

“I utterly believe that you are not lost. The very fact you ask these questions shows there must be a part of you that still fights for the light, or else you would throw yourself completely into the darkness without regrets or hesitation.” He said honestly.

Colin chuckled. “I am far from ‘full of light’, but I… thank you for that sentiment.” He sighed, if he could be a light house for lost souls he would take the post gladly, but he could not lose sight of his task here. It would soon be over and he would have to return to his coven. All of this was temporary, he thought sadly eyes lingering on the names of his students covering the walls with posters, homework, and projects.

“I started dark. My magic - when it first showed up, it sang, but never in a light way. It was always wanting me to do something evil with it. I never wanted that so I ran from it for a very long time and when I finally embraced it... It led me here...” Adam swallowed hard and glanced at him. He let a small smile perk across his lips as Colin mentioned not being full of light. He was such a sweet heart. Adam had a hard believing he wasn’t full of light and goodness, completely. 

The expression on Colin’s face told him that he wasn’t planning on being here for long. He didn’t know why. Nor was it any of his business, but the sadness in Colin’s eyes made him sigh and look down. “You don’t have to leave if you don’t want too... I mean - I don’t know why you are looking to leave, but it isn’t necessary is it? You have a choice and your choice is obviously not wanting to go...”

Well, fudgle sticks, guys... I don’t know... I really don’t right now. Damn Arkham... Damn this writer’s block... Little bit of OC chat, anyone? Plotting? And a question for those of the Whiteash who are scattering but still would like to keep in touch - do any of you have aim? XD I am working on the replies I owe now.

Magic’s Pull || Colin & Adam

Listening to him for a moment, Adam let his eyes lower to the floor and he shifted a bit so that he was sitting a little more on the desk. He frowned slightly and shook his head. “Do you think there is a way to come back from complete darkness? From casting spells of harm and death... to doing something with purpose. Is that possible to flip a switch between absolute dark magic to that of something light or neutral even...?” He questioned. That had been something he had been battling with for days. He had given up magic in the last few days because he didn’t believe that change was possible.  

 “I didn’t come looking for advice or sympathy...” Adam mentioned and cleared his throat. “I came for an alliance...” He shook his head. Alliance was such a formal word of potential back stab when something better came along. “Not an alliance... Friendship. When I met you in that graveyard - something... something told me I just wanted to be near you for a little longer. You... seem so full of light and I am so black...”

“You’re either my friend or you’re not.” He said, always having been surrounded by people who let him do what he wanted and calling them his friends. Because anyone who let him haphazardly set off TNT in his backyard was a true friend.

He backed away, the detonator in hand and enough explosives set to hopefully bring down the large maple trees in one go. He wanted to see them uprooted and crashing down like twigs. He wanted to scar the earth, to show what little power he had could be enough… 

He pressed the button and the destruction was immediate. The cascade of dirt and leaves and wood was a whirlwind, everything dangerous as it flew by him at such high speeds. A rock was propelled out of the ground clipping him in the head and knocking him down. He was disoriented as he began to hear the giant trees begin to crash down around them, and he wasn’t sure if they were far enough to not be crushed by them.

Adam turned to walk away. He considered leaving. Obviously Casca was not looking for someone to speak with at the moment. He frowned slightly. What was wrong with him? Why couldn’t he make or keep a friend? He took a step forward kicking at the ground slightly before stopping and letting his thoughts swam his brain. ‘Just leave, he doesn’t want your friendship. You should just go.’ Yet, here he was standing. Something begging and pleaded for him to stay. 

Then there was the sound. He quickly turned to see what destruction was going to take place. This was when his eyes caught Casca on the ground and coming toward him was a tree. Adam quickly went rushing back toward Casca’s side, coming to a slide on his knees next to him. He held his hands up and there was a bit flash of fire and the tree burned up almost instantly. Ash becoming the only thing that was coming down on top of them.

“Fuck you Adam. Ever since I’ve met you everything has always been about you and your problems. I’ve cared about you. I never thought I could care about anyone and yet I cared about you. I came here tonight to ask for your help and yet you turn me away. I’m lost in the darkness and I’m actually asking for help and yet you don’t care about me enough to help. No one cares about me enough to help. Get over yourself. You’re not the only one who’s dangerous.” She glared at him, felling the ground under her shake. Maybe one day she’d actually learn to control her magic when she was angry.

Adam felt horrible. It was undeniable that he was very upset by this, but he couldn’t help it. He had never been able to keep friends, never! So long as he let the magic overrun him. The darkness was just too consuming and he feared the idea of helping her. He fear getting drawn back into it, or worse - turning against her. He couldn’t have killed her, by that little spell that he had allowed her to cast. It had nearly killed him for that matter! “You have to understand - I am worried about what I would do... what a magical withdraw could do. I have always been an asshole with magic... without... On top of that, that spell almost killed me. It could have killed you.. and it would have been my fault! I don’t need to drag you down...”

“And you wouldn’t want me to glamour you or anything?” Alicia’s tongue glided slowly against her fangs, exposing themselves at the prospect of another meal. She was a little suspicious at how easily he was offering, but the desire to feed was stronger than the suspicion. “What are you getting out of it? Besides feeding your fascination.”

Adam shook his head slowly. “No, I wouldn’t want to be glamoured...” He cleared his throat and couldn’t help but smirk slightly when she asked what he was getting out of it. “Obviously, I haven’t asked anything of you. So - I am not looking for anything out of it. Perhaps, a friendship...?” He asked, biting down on his lower lip. He had a thought in mind, yes - but he did not wish to ask it of a complete stranger, but if he couldn’t make a friend...? Maybe just maybe.

“I knew it wouldn’t be easy. Nothing is ever easy. Why would this be any different?” She set the book down, frowning at what he said. “We’re not friends? I trust you with my life.” Standing up, she headed to the door. “I knew it was stupid to come tonight. God. I care about you but apparently we’re not even friends. Just fucking allies.”

Adam sighed gently and looked down. “I can’t keep friends. I have never been able to... Not friends, not family... Nothing! Not so long as my magic was eating me inside and out...” He said, shaking his head. “I am sorry, if you trusted me with your life - but as long as magic has been in my life - I have done nothing but push everyone away. It just... it is not in my DNA to keep friends... until I am ‘sober’ I am nothing but a danger...”

It was his fault for thinking he could trust anybody in this forsaken town. That things would be different here, than his war torn home.

“Help? You can’t even help yourself half the time.” He sneered, stopping as Adam stood and stumbling back. “I almost died. I… I… was stitched together by magic like some kind of rag doll. He… He made it absolutely clear the strength he had over me. How do you help that?” He said, breathing heavily to keep from hyperventilating. “Now let me blow shit up.” He said, pushing past Adam.

Adam’s jaw clenched with an instant of Casca’s comment of him not being able to help his self. He swallowed hard and let his back straighten as he fought hard to hide the hurt that was flooding into his mind. He deserved that. He knew he did and he knew Casca was just in a foul mood but it really did not make it hurt less. 

“I am sorry. You are right. I cannot help that... and I cannot help myself most of the time... but I am trying to be your friend here, Casca...” He shook his head slightly. “But I suppose I cannot keep friends... ever. It is just how it has always been. Why should now be any different...” He shrugged, almost throwing his hands in the air as he took a step back to let Casca blow up whatever the hell it was he wanted too.

Adam nodded his head. “Suite yourself…” He said turning toward her. He leaned slightly against the counter and released a small sigh. His eyes following hers to the book on the coffee table. He let his shoulders shrug a bit and shook his head. “Honestly, I am not sure at this point…” He swallowed hard. “Every time I used magic – I get sick… It just doesn’t seem worth it at the moment.”

Diana nodded in understanding, going to the book and picking it up. Pride and Prejudice. One of her favorites. “How does one stop?” She sat down on the couch, flipping it open to a few of her favorite parts. “How does one go back to before the darkness consumed them? Before they lost their soul?” She had been trying to figure it out but couldn’t.

Adam looked at her and took a deep breath. “I am not going to lie and tell you it is easy. It is like an alcoholic trying to become sober. It takes time, effort. You just need to find something worth more to you than your magic...” He frowned slightly. “I want to use it; I do... but it makes me sick and it just - it is not worth the pain and loneliness anymore. It isn’t... Even you and I - so much alike, could be friends... but we aren’t. We are allies. We barely trust each other...”

He needed to keep an eye on this one. He intrigued Colin immensely, because he seemed like a challenge, maybe something more, but mostly because he was the best candidate to be an actual friend. 

Lying had begun to take a toll on Colin. He felt that the more he did it the more he was losing himself to the lies. What if the coven didn’t recognize him when they finally reunited? He was not cut out for this spy business, and the worst part is that he had willfully volunteered for it.

The sooner he figured this guy out, the closer he was to maybe being himself again. “We all deserve to be cared for. That wouldn’t be a reason behind your ‘mysterious’ illness, now would it?” He asked, wondering if he was trying to bring back a loved one or something along those lines. To be so young and so desperate to reach towards the darkness, something awful must have happened to him.

“Uh... no...” Adam had frowned slightly. He wanted power and if he could successfully have casted that damn spell. He had hoped the power would have filled the void in his heart, completed whatever form of darkness in his soul and he wouldn’t have been lonely. Even if it would have probably meant being alone for all eternity. He let his eyes stare down for a moment before he slowly looked back up at him. 

“I casted an immortality spell... It was almost successful... but I guess in the end - I really didn’t want immortality. I didn’t want an eternity of life. I just wanted my soul to completely blacken. I just wanted not to feel lonely anymore, not to care about love or anything else for that matter...” He bit down on his lower lip before clearing his throat. “Either way, it doesn’t matter. At this point, I have kind of given up on all magic... all together... It has been making me sick. Even the simple teleportation spell...” He shook his head. “I don’t want anymore deals with the devil.”

Diana followed him into his house, glad that he had actually let her in. She wasn’t sure where the two stood, having not seen him since he was sick. It was nice to see that he had gotten better. “I’m fine. Thank you.” She glanced at the coffee table, noticing the book. It wasn’t a spell book. “Do you still…” Sighing, she looked into his eyes. “Do you still practice or have you given up the darkness?”

“I mean that I fucked up!” He said exasperated. “You want me to go into details about my failures? We’ll be here all day.” He said, focusing all his energy into the digging, hoping Adam didn’t see how scared he was. He couldn’t even bear the thought of even recounting what had happened that day. It was still too raw. Too many things he hadn’t completely figured out. Didn’t want to figure out.

“Can’t be bullying if you deserve it.” He said digging deeper into the ground. The roots blocked his path making it hard to make any progress. The trees would have to be brought down. He went for more charges.

Adam immediately shook his head. “Every person who is being bullied or assaulted immediately takes the blame. It is not your fault! You tell me what it is you did that you so called ‘deserved’ it for.” He said quickly as he shifted a bit in the way he crouched before moving to stand up as Casca began to move. “Cas - talk to me... I want to help...”

Diana had stayed at work late, shelving all the books so they wouldn’t have to do it tomorrow. It was boring work but it was better than being at home. It wasn’t like she slept really. The nightmares were getting slightly better. It had been a few days since she had woken up screaming or had accidentally set fire to something. A much needed improvement to what normally happened. Once all the books were put away she glanced at her watch. Midnight. Locking the place up, she got into her car and started to drive. Maybe if she just drove she’d tire herself out and sleep peacefully or at least she could hope. After almost two hours of driving around town, she passed by Adam’s place. She smiled when she noticed a light still on and pulled over. Going to the door, she actually knocked for once. “It’s Diana.”

Adam released a small breath as he heard her voice. He swallowed hard and slowly closed the door, unchaining the door before pulling it open again. “Hey...” He said in a soft voice. He wasn’t 100%, but he was better. It still flared up especially if he used magic. He had kind of gone to studying actual human things rather than the spell books. “Right... Come in...” He said almost forgetting what manners were. He took a step out of the door way and turned toward the kitchen. “Tea...? Coffee?” He asked, smiling softly.

Cas watched Adam warily, and took a step back just to reassert his personal space. “I… was stupid.” He said, gripping the shovel until his knuckles paled white. He turned back to working on the ground, throwing dirt to the sides as he dug the foundation to the addition to his shack.

“I was really stupid and I got put in my place.” He said through gritted teeth. “Though I’m sure that’s no surprise to anyone.”

Adam released a small sigh and shook his head slightly. Not completely understanding. Was Casca being... bullied... or whatever? “What do you mean...?” He questioned, staying down in his crouched position. He had always joked about being an underpaid psychologist and it was absolutely true. Adam knew how people ticked. He knew how to comfort them and he knew mental breakdowns - panic attacks, and other forms of mental issues. He was good with people even if he hid from them most of the time. “Are you being... bullied? Cas, is someone being mean to you...?” He asked still looking up at him.
