“You held a monkey! What was it like?”
“Is it wrong to miss people you have not thought about in awhile?”
I’ll be the one if you want me to Anywhere I would’ve followed you Say something I’m giving up on you
The smile remained even when her hands dropped. The only time it was gone was when he pouted. “Do they have any fun classes? I don’t want to do anything that isn’t fun.” Peter made a face at her words. “That’s grown-up stuff, Wendybird. We don’t do silly things like that.” Leave it to Peter of all people to not understand the importance of such things. “That’s probably right. All of that stuff is much more fun, don’t you think?”
“Of course they have fun classes! You have to take a number of them I imagine...” An eyebrow raises as her expression fades into her motherly face. “Peter Pan. You have to go to this school and follow it’s rules or Hook will come find us and split us apart. We don’t want that.” She could recall attending classes as a girl and missed them a bit. “It is a lot more fun but sometimes for a little while you have to put the fun stuff on hold. Oh, but only for a short while.”
The corner’s of his lips slowly turned into a smile when she did that, it couldn’t be helped. “Do I have to go every day, though? It’s just so boring and they don’t let me go on adventures. That isn’t fair, though! They should let you attend!” Peter shook his head. “I don’t remember you telling me that.”
Aha, there it was. Upon seeing his smile she drops her hands. “Yes, Peter. You have to pick classes as well. You’ll have Tink there to help you. I’m sure I can find work somewhere and maybe get us a house somewhere? Then maybe you won’t have to sleep at the school.” She began rambling thinking of everything she would need to do. She smiled a bit. “You probably ignored it because it didn’t involve pirates, and crocodiles and flying.”
Peter crossed his arms over his chest, pouting. “Why do I have to set an example? The boys will go to school if I say so. They always listen to me. What? But that’s not fair! Why do I have to go to the school if you can’t?”
She couldn't help but smile, reaching up to push at the corners of his pout with the pads of her thumbs. “Because, you are the Father and Father’s show the children how to be good. Shh. Shh. I am not special like you, the boys and Tink are. I am a human. It is a school for only people like you. I told you this weeks ago, Peter. Did you not understand I could not attend?”
“School is so boring. I’d much rather go on my adventures.”
“You must attend school, Peter. What example would you be giving the boys?” She tsks. “I need to find another place to go...I cannot attend that school. Only you and the boys can.”

“Oh, I couldn’t be sure, Wendybird.”
“Mhm huh. ...When are you going to go to the school?”
“What boy?”
“What boy do you think, Peter?”
"you worshipped him like God and followed him like your shepherd, but didn’t anyone tell you that he was neither of those things and that you confused your butcher for your shepherd, little lamb”                        [amen, amen, amen] by Keith M.
“What am I to you then?”
Wendy asked, leaning away from him, the twinge in her ankle taking her thoughts away from the boy in front of her as she shifted. Peter’s eyes narrowed at her scrunched up face and she wound her fingers with his to sate him – he looked down at her wrists briefly, his eyes looking detached. Â
He raised an eyebrow as he looked up from their hands, a striking smile plastered to his face again.
“Well, you’re mine, of course.”

“He.Does. Not. Mothers are flighty, useless beings. And you’re leaving out the special part, which implies more than just being a girl to him.”
“Just ask him then, Tink.” The only reason she hadn't hit the blonde was she was a lady. “Mother’s are no such things. They are sweet, kind and read to you to get you to go to sleep. They love you forever as I do the boys.”
“Does not. It will never be about me. I’m his special girl.”
“He does too. Are you positive on that? I think Mother trumps girl.”
“Does not. And don’t forget, I’ve known him longer. So don’t even waste your time feeling comfortable. I know change is coming soon, and I don’t think you’ll be in it.”
“Does too. Why on Earth would I forget? I am very comfortable. Change?” She blinks innocently at the blonde. “Are you sure that change is not about you?”
“He does not.” Right? If he did, Tink would beat his butt anyways. “He’s trying to entertain your fragile ego, but don’t worry, he’ll get bored with playing house soon enough.”
“Does too.” She snaps back. “I don’t have an ego. He hasn't gotten bored in the nine years I have been with him.”
“And you’re delusional,” she snaps back, resisting the urge to shake her until she made sense. “When it comes to Peter, I do. You’re not mentally stable enough to be a mother. But please, do tell me why I’m wrong this time.”
“Nope.” She shrugs her shoulders. The other girl’s words not affecting her in the slightest. “Peter tells me things he doesn't tell you.” She says simply. “He says I am Mother so that is what I am.”
