glitter in the air . mattie + addison
matilda-taylor:
“You’d prolly look hot in scrubs.” She smirked through the pain. Truth be told the blonde would look attractive in anything- she could wear a freaking paper bag and Matilda would still find her to be the most beautiful woman she’d ever seen. She didn’t want to be here but for now they had her on enough meds that the panic wasn’t taking over.
The younger girl listened closely and gave a small nod- she knew that Addison wouldn’t have her here unless it was absolutely necessary and it helped that she wasn’t in this place alone. Mattie cleared her throat gently as she attempted to sort through her memories. Blinking, she gave a small shake to her head. “uhh… I uhm… don’t know. I guess I remember getting home and throwing a fit about the stupid dress… I remember getting punished on the way to the event… which is why my ass still hurts thank you very much…” she mumbled as her cheeks flushed. Dark eyes squinted slightly before shaking her head again. “…That’s all.” Her eyebrows shot up after a second. “Oh- I think some sleezy asshole was trying to get in my pants at the bar or something but…” She trailed off. “It’s really fuzzy, Addi.”
"Perhaps if you’re good.” Addison chuckled, unable to hold back even if she wanted. “I doubt even I could make those shapeless sacks look good, but I’d consider giving it a try for you, my darling.” She quipped with a grin, one hand reaching out to caress Mattie’s cheek gently. It was encouraging that Mattie could still joke, even if it was probably mostly a front for how she really felt. Still, it reminded her how strong the younger girl was, even if it wasn’t enough to loosen her tensed muscles or let down her guard. Addison doubted that she’d be able to relax until they were long out of the hospital, that thought reminding her to mention the idea that had come to mind a few hours prior. “Try not to move too much, my love. You’re getting pain medication, but I don’t want to tempt fate.”
It felt like a lifetime ago, that she had Mattie over her lap in the town car. Perhaps she should have taken that as a sign and turned them around. “That you did, Matilda. Perhaps next time you’ll give it a bit more thought before behaving so childishly.” Addison drawled, though she highly doubted that would be the last time that happened. As Mattie finished her side of the story, she sobered, her spine straightening unconsciously as she looked for the best way to explain what happened. Part of her didn’t want to tell her what had happened, but she’d never lied to the younger girl, and she wasn’t about to start now. “We were at the bar together for a while, yes, but I was called away for business, and I left you at the bar- a choice I certainly regret now. You, um, you-” Swallowing thickly, Addison took a moment to collect herself, before continuing. “The next time I saw you, you burst into the ballroom, and collapsed. Your drink was drugged by one of my employees, and he tried to-,”
Looking away, Addison could feel tears starting to fall, all of the emotional stress of the last 24 hours boiling over. “I thought-” Catching herself, she shook her head, exhaling deeply as she face Mattie once more, “The doctors say he didn’t get very far before you broke his jaw and escaped. Although, him even looking at you is too far in my opinion, the fucking piece shit. And other women have come forward with similar accusations. He’ll be in prison for the rest of his worthless life. I’m going to make sure of it.” Addison had a team of lawyers on her side that would ensure it, and yet, it didn’t feel like nearly enough. “
