ERICÂ BOGOSIAN as DANIELÂ MOLLOY Interview With the Vampire 3.01 "Detroit"
it actually is insane to me that it's a cultural norm for men to suck ass at getting their wives/gfs gifts. especially when they whine about how they have no idea what women like.
man, you're not getting a gift for Female Domestic Partner. you're getting a gift for Natalie, a person whom you have been married to for 7 years, whom has lived in the same home with you for a decade, whom speaks to you every day about her thoughts and interests, whom you presumably love, and whom you can directly or indirectly ask what she wants. it's not that you don't know what half the human population wants, that's irrelevant. you don't know what Natalie wants and that is inexcusable.
staring at the dessert menu and twirling my hair and going "should I be baaaaddd" until the autistic girl I'm eating with says "there is nothing bad about eating dessert. it is a morally neutral action"
im literally always saying this
A couple of weeks ago I posted about how arguably children and minors these days are arguably more oppressed than pretty much ever as a specific group. Don't get me wrong: childhood in "ye olden times" sucked probably generally more than childhood today in an industrialized country. But at the time there was less specific oppression of the class "children", because childhood as we know it is a fairly modern invention. Because until fairly recently a lot of some basic freedoms were actually further developed for children. Children did have more freedom of movement, freedom of association, and so on. Many of those legal changes are so new, that I grew up in a time before them. And while I whine a lot about "being old"... I am not that old.
Either way, I am getting distracted. The point was actually: someone dropped into my comments at this going: "Ha! I would argue children were more oppressed when it was legal to beat them!" And mind you. This person was American. And, uhm... Well.
I do not know how I should tell y'all. But you... do understand that it is still legal in all of the US to physically punish children as a parent, right? Like, the US never ratified the rights of children. A lot of places never did that, actually.
This is the map from Wikipedia about where children can legally be beaten by their parents or in some cases even teachers. The key is: in Green countries it is illegal alltogether, in yellow countries it is legal for parents/guardians at home to physically beat children, bright orange allows it for parents/guardians and within private schools, dark orange is generally parents/guardians and people at school, and red countries allow violence against children in pretty much any institution.
And, like, you might say: "Oh, that is actually more green countries than I thought." But... I should remind you that in the end, even in the green countries, the law against violence through parents/guardians tends to not be enforced until it reaches a level where adjacent adults will be uncomfortable.
And pretty much no country protects children and minors from non-physical stuff. Having your privacy stripped? Yeah, tough luck, nobody cares. Your parents or teachers verbally abusing and humiliating you? Yeah, tough luck, fuck you.
And many of the rules that are currently pushed for to "protect" children from evil things like *checks notes* porn and horror movies and serial kidnappers that do not actually exist pushes children into a situation where they have way, way less abilities to escape abusive homes, or abusive schooling situations. Because children and minors in general are right now heavily restricted in their freedom of movement and freedom of education.
This is most noticeable for children who are queer and are raised in queerphobic households. But it affects all children. It is oppression. Nothing else. And worst of all it sounds reasonable.
Remember to eat!

Another reason to love Mexican food. ❤️
the penis was a component of the extinct mammal known as the "human." while its true function is unclear, experts believed it allowed them to locate rare tubers hidden in the soil
It's pride month so I'll allow myself to express one opinion on the internet :
There are no "exact color" of pride flags.
I see more and more sites and posts talking about the exact hex codes for the lesbian flag, or the right purple for the ace one, and how it should be more or less saturated and I just want to say: pride flags were meant to be sewn in your kitchen. To be spraypainted and to be recognised.
There are no "exact colors" of pride flags because you should do them with what you have ! Nobody should care if you use a crimson red instead of a cherry red or whatever ! Be free ! wave your colors ! The colors you have !
affirmations they will not kill me at work today. it is not in my job description to get killed. if they did kill me at work that would be weird and probably not worth it for them
based based based based based based based based based based based based
It's very sad to think this idea is shocking to someone...
[image: paragraph by an unspecified Tumblr user: "There are legitimately fat activists out there who say you should eat whatever you want whenever you want wherever you want and however much you want."]

tags by headspace-hotel: #cravings 4 specific foods for me usually mean i need something either mentally or physically #can be hard to interpret when ur surrounded by food that Doesnt Have the nutrients u want #but i dont think ppl need Rules to eat according to unless theres like. a specific reason
.
oh right there's probably a reason I'm longing for orange juice. which I can't have without my body hating me, even with multiple antacids, and my throat already feels like I took sandpaper to it, so I guess it's vitC supplement time
Oddly enough, it's only by giving myself the freedom to eat whatever I fancied as often as I wanted that I was able to give up needing to binge eat as a form of self-soothing. I've found if I have sweets or chocolate in the house all the time, I don't need to eat large amounts of them in one go - they're not going to be taken away, I'm not going to be punished for eating them, so I can just have (for example) five red frogs, and stop.
It's only by giving myself the freedom to eat whatever I want when I want, that I learned I actually like eating vegetables, and that I'm partial to snacking on salad veges. While I was dieting, salads were an act of penance for the sin of being hungry. They weren't enjoyable, they couldn't be - they were something you consumed to apologise to the world for taking up space in it.
It's only by giving myself the freedom to eat as much (or as little) of whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted it, that I learned I didn't actually want to eat an entire cake in one sitting. That I could be happy with just one piece of toast.
It was only by giving myself the freedom to eat as much as I wanted, of whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted it, that I was able to even start to rebuild a functional relationship with food after ten years of weight-loss dieting.
(Oh, and the weight-loss dieting didn't work, same as it still doesn't work for about 95 - 98% of people who try it. I lost weight, sure... but it always found me again, and it brought friends).
I also think that the strength gap is at least partially manufactured women would in fact be stronger overall if little girls were encouraged to do physically taxing games and activities and eat their fill while they’re growing vs having to constantly diet and be sedentary indoors (or god forbid do intense cardio while under-eating). The amount of adult women honestly afraid to lift weights bc they think they’ll get bulky as though bulking isn’t a full time job that athletes have to spend all their time on and anyone on earth gets shredded from just using their adult muscles for their intended purpose, girl your bone density 🥀
if you say women are intentionally nerfed from birth in 2026 people look at you like you’re insane and start condescendingly telling you about how women are just better at different things (but not during their periods haha) but this was a completely basic feminist talking point I grew up with like “girls can do it too! [shot of little girls climbing and running with boys]” nickelodeon commercial tier base level I hate it how is everyone suddenly dumber than the average 7 year old
The only way to talk to these people.
The thing is, in order to have a healthy and robust fandom, a piece of media NEEDS to leave some questions unanswered. Some relations unshipped. Some plot holes unfilled. Some backstories unwritten. Some lore unexplained. You need possibilities that will keep people up at night. The beautiful thing about an empty lot in a neighborhood is what people make in it
Been thinking about making this post for a while, so here it goes.
The trans community has a specific type of transphobia towards nonbinary people who were assigned male at birth, and that is forcing womanhood onto them posed as purification or salvation.
The reverse, forcing nonbinary people assigned female into the man role, also exists, but it's frequently done with open hatred (e.g. "those they/thems are actually men trying to sneak into women's spaces") and therefore it has been called out by several people I interact with.
The former, not so much.
Many tend to see misgendering of someone amab towards womanhood as fundamentally benevolent or unserious. Real people develop new kinds of dysphoria and quit trans spaces because of that, including some of my acquaintances, but it's all seen as accidental collateral damage for the noble goal of making more women discover themselves.
"But what if you're denying a closeted self hating trans woman a chance to be called a woman" is seen as a more valid argument than the distress being actively done to people of other genders, and it's fucking bonkers.
I refuse to keep centering non-abinary* perspectives in this conversation.
* abinary spectrum includes agender, xenogender, and other things adjacent.
FUCK AMERICA HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY CEASAR SALAD 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽❗❗❗
many of our ancestors worked so hard to be not farming and I deeply appreciate that
I love not farming
I respect the hell out of farmers and I'm glad that's someone's dream. because it's sure not mine
I would not be taken in by the tradwife influencer grift about milking a cow in a sundress. I have been around cows. my uncle was a dairy farmer. I love not milking a cow. I love getting milk from a store. I love getting vegetables and fruit and meat and bread from a store.
would I rather it be a local farm's store or a local bakery or butcher shop? yes! maybe when I make more money!
but oh. my god. I love not farming so much
My very first tiger drawing and my latest
