i won't share you / braddie
It was the little things that the brunette did that really got Brett. All of the weird quirks she had and the way that she was just so passionate about music made her think of her in the brightest light possible. She was beautiful, as well, and made her feel like she was the perfect person no matter what. But for some reason, there was that barrier between them. Like there was something more important in both of their lives that they couldn’t just shake. For Brett, she didn’t really understand what it was for herself. She was unsure of what was really holding her back—maybe she just wanted to find out if she truly did want to be with Addie for her lifetime by finding that out with other people. And, honestly, she wasn’t sure if she was ready to get her heart broken. The blonde had never really experienced heartbreak before because she was never in a committed relationship, and when she was she would be the one to end it.
Smiling lightly, her fingers trailed over the smaller girl’s arm. Brett was happy to have her there, no doubt, and the fact that she was singing to her something that she had created on her own just for Brett made her heart melt in the most delicious way possible. “Shut up,” she murmured as the girl began to almost make excuses. Mushy was good; mushy was what Brett needed when she was with Addie. She grabbed her hand and began to rake her lips over her knuckles as she sang to her, mesmerized by the sweet sound of her voice and the loving words that came with it. When she had finished, Brett’s smile was wide and she dropped Addie’s hand just to cup her face in her palms once again. “You’re wonderful,” she murmured, kissing her deeply and pulling away slightly. “Just… amazing. God, I don’t know how you do it but everything you come up with is… well, it’s pure magic.” She whispered, kissing her deeply once again, speaking against her lips as she did, “I’m glad you’re part of my life.”
Addie couldn't believe that she was closer to Brett than anyone but it still wasn't as close as she could've been. Brett was beautiful and kind and sweet and funny and everything Addie wanted to be around, but she couldn't get herself to make it any more than a friendship. Sure, they kissed and cuddled, but it could've amounted to more and neither of them wanted that. Addie didn't have a problem with it because it worked out in both of their favors, but she always felt like they treated each other like they were in love even though they weren't. It was weird when she over-thought it which she didn't do a lot. Sometimes, when she did, she realized that she had unofficially been with Brett longer than she had officially been with anyone else and Brett hadn't broken her heart like the other girls did. Heartbreak inspired songs but being happy and comfortable with Brett as a best friend with benefits was way better than any relationship. Commitment wasn't something that was in the cards for either of them and they both seemed to be okay with it.
The song she was singing for Brett wasn't something one friend would necessarily write or sing for another friend but they weren't the typical pair of friends. They were more than that but way less than girlfriends. Thinking about what they were and trying to label it was difficult since, sometimes, it seemed like she had feelings for Brett that had never been felt before. By anyone. The smile on Brett's face confirmed her expectations of how the girl would react and it was so relieving to hear the words she said next. She looked at Brett as the blonde cupped her cheeks, smiling and kissing her back. Addie reluctantly pulled away and continued to smile, blushing hard as Brett continued to compliment her. "I'm glad you're a part of my life, Brettie." She said softly, resting a hand on Brett's. "I could kiss you forever." Addie mumbled.
