The magic with her was strong tonight, very much so with the assistance of her guide and mentor, the Red Priestess - Melisandre. How long the disguise would work she did not know but for as long as she needed to she could carry it despite the massive toll it would take on her for extending herself far too long. True, Shireen was no master yet but despite that fact her skin was smooth and beautiful save for the place where her greyscale was located. She fought the urge to touch it, to comfort herself and remind her just why she fought the way she did or why it was necessary for such a thing but as she passed along the mirror she couldn’t help stare for a moment. The grayscale looked no more then a burn, like soup had scalded the child when she was young but enough time had passed to where it was faint and less glaringly noticeable then it should have been. This is what I would look like if I were beautiful. This is what I would look like …. She would not have to be beautiful when she avenged her father and took her rightful place, she did not need to be beautiful to do anything because she was the strongest of them all, she was Shireen Baratheon. But no… Shireen was not here - Shireen had been thought to be dead for years so much so they all presumed the threat to be neutralized. What would they do if they knew who lied behind the pretty face of a servant? That was why she was not alone in her efforts this evening, that was why she had her two most trusted men at her side in a way to watch over her should anything go awry. “Highgarden is a marvelous sight made even more magnificent by the present occasion. Lord Jorah is lucky for such a bride..” She smiled brightly once she found her way to the crowd bowing her head.
There were people everywhere, more people than Adelaide had seen in her life. People crowded the floor, some dancing, some just talking. Every table in sight was filled up with people drinking and laughing. She noticed that there were two types of shadowy hallways: those with lords making secret deals, and those with couple breaking vows. Scared was too strong of a word, but all of the people definitely intimidated the Northern girl who had never seen a city larger than White Harbor.
Adelaide awkwardly walked across the floor, hoping that she didn't look too out of place. She wished her father had sent someone, anyone else to represent his interests at this wedding. She was willing to kill and commit brutal acts for House Bolton, but she could hardly stomach being around all of the rich nobles of the Reach enjoying themselves.
Adelaide realized that she had drifted off into thought, and had accidentally been staring at a woman with what appeared to be a burn on her face for a while now. Just play it off like it's nothing, Adelaide thought to herself as she gathered her courage and walked over to the person. "Excuse me," she said, trying to think of what she should say, "I was wondering if you could tell me where the way to get out is? It's getting hot in here," she finished on an awkward note.
