ok so, we now know that lp lives in silverbeak, so when dewey got in trouble he sensed it, woke up in the middle of the night and drove all the way up to the fucking mansion. If those aren‘t fatherly instincts i dont know what they are, this guy should adopt a kid or smth

There's So Much More To Steelbeak

Let's get something straight here. Ducktales 2017 Steelbeak is not like the original Darkwing Duck Steelbeak. He's not suave, he's not a smooth talker, he's not sarcastic, he's not calm, he's not flirty, and he's not very smart. The only thing new Steelbeak shares with his original counterpart is the similar design.

But just because he's a big dumb tough guy doesn't mean he's one-dimensional.

The Ducktales reboot has been takes old characters and giving them a new code of paint since it started. They made Huey, Dewey, and Louie from pretty bland identical kids to flesh out characters with their own personalities, dreams, and goals. They made Webby from an annoying typical just the girl character type, into a wildcard that's socially awkward but still very excitable.

Ever old character got some kind of update to them. Fenton desperately wants to prove he's a scientist, Gyro is a little unstable but is clearly passionate about his work, Gandra Dee is less stereotypically feminine and now a grunge style scientist.

Frank Angones and the Ducktales team wouldn't take a character like Steelbeak and make him just dumb. Not if they didn't have a story in mind for him.

It's hard to tell right now weather or not Steelbeak was with FOWL before or after his time in St. Canard's prison. The only thing we know is Black Heron busted him out and gave him his famous steel beak as stated by Frank.

My guess is that he wasn't with FOWL till after Black Heron show up. With his brute strength he probably did underground fight Club for a living, or Cockfighting to be more precise. His last fight not only lead to him ending up in prison but also with broken and disfigured beak.

FOWL either felt they needed a brute to help them accomplish their goals or Black Heron felt she needed a henchman that knew how to fight dirty, after her defeat with Beakley and Webby. That's when Steelbeak was recruited and given his steel beak by Black Heron.

To him it probably he felt like this was his chance to make something of himself. He went from illegal fighting, to working with a Secret Criminal Organization. One that not even the richest duck in the world knows, it's been hiding in his own building.

He thinks on the same level as the other agents. He thinks he's Black Heron's partner. He thinks he's just as important as everyone else in FOWL. But that isn't the case. Anytime he tries to speak out of line he is silenced.

At first it seems Black Heron is only doing it to just to shut him up from blabbering on. Maybe it was just that, but at the end of the episode.... When Bradford is talking to Black Heron, he is only tell her all the work he had to do to cover up their tracks.

Even thought Steelbeak was the one that cause all the damage, Bradford never speaks to him. And soon as Steelbeak does tries to speak and insult Black Heron, he is quickly silent by a magnetic lock.

Black Heron looks at Steelbeak when he tries to insult her, but as soon as his beak is shut by Bradford she looks away. Like it was no big deal. Steelbeak then starts punching his beak, trying desperately to pry it open. Showing this has happen many times before.

He wasn't just given the new beak to help him or to convince him to join. The beak was given to him so FOWL could control him.

But now for the elephant in the room. Steelbeak being dumb down and getting mad anytime someone calls him stupid or even says the word stupid around him.

Yes Steelbeak not the sharpest tool in the shed and the show already has too many dumb characters. But I don't think he'll stay this way. When Black Heron started ruthlessly insulting him, he snaps. He steals the ray from her and turns it against her. This shows he's can be dangerous and a clever when he's push to far.

Now why didn't he use the ray on himself?

He knows he's not smart and is very insecure about it. He just wants to be accepted and treated equally. He thinks it be better to bring everyone down to his level rather then be above them.

At least that's how I interpreted it.

Also if you think he's being childish for lashing out on being call stupid. Keep in mind his "partner" the person he's with everyday. Is constantly telling him he's stupid and clamping his beak shut. Can't blame a guy for snapping in a situation like that.

To sum everything up, yes Steelbeak is dumb but I believe there is so much in store for him. With how FOWL treats him and how ruthless he can be when he does snap. Just because he's nothing like the original Steelbeak, doesn't mean he's one-dimensional or terrible.

After all before the DuckTales reboot air everyone was quick to jump on it, saying that it was gonna be terrible and nothing like the original. They got one thing right....

The reboot is almost nothing like the original. The character have more depth to them, there's a overarching story, Donald is more involved, the triplets have a mom, other Disney Afternoon characters are tie into the show, and so much more.

It's almost like a different show in Ducktales clothing. Just like new Steelbeak is a different character in original Steelbeak's suit. We all gave the reboot a chance and we got an amazing show.

All I ask is you guys give Steelbeak a chance too.
