Aubrey had been glancing at the person sitting next to her for a while now, they seemed so blissfully unaware of their situation. After muttering a quick ‘excuse me’, she brushed her little finger against the tip of the other’s nose. “There you go. Much better. How did you manage to get dirt on your nose, anyway?”

Adelaide was quite aware that the girl sitting next to her was staring at her... though she couldn’t think why. “Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” Adelaide snarled, turning to face the other girl when she suddenly touched Adelaide’s nose. “Excuse you? Who asked you to touch me?” The brunette was a little taken aback when the girl said the latter. “It doesn’t give you the right to touch me even though I had dirt on my nose.”

Reckless behav-” She cut off, her fingers pausing on the piano as she glanced over. “You staring at me like that makes me feel like i have spinach in my teeth. What is it?”

Truth be told, Adelaide only wanted some peace and quiet. She almost got into detention earlier that day, and wanted to at least try to catch up on her work. But when she heard soft singing not far from where she was sitting, she almost screamed out loud. “Before my ears explode,” Adelaide cleared her throat, a hint of a smirk playing on her lips masking the impatience within. “You better keep your singing tendencies in your dorm.”

Zephyr pressed his lips together– She did make an obvious point, and he felt dumb for asking such question give the situation. “I.. Yeah, I get it.” He nodded, more to himself since he knew she wasn’t looking at him. And then he figured he’d be more helpful by leaving instead of just pressing to know if he could do anything to make her feel better. “I won’t bother you then, but I hope whatever is troubling you.. Gets better.” He said gently, before turning around to continue his way. 

Adelaide stared into the nothingness, kicking at the damp dirt underneath her. Out of all the times she ever bothered, embarrassed or caused trouble for someone else, this time she felt guilty. He was just trying to help. She shook her head. “Nothing ever gets better,” Adelaide muttered, more to herself than anyone else. She didn’t even care if he was still there or not. She asked, barely in a whisper, “When will anything ever get any better?”

Daisy frowned again, still feeling deeply sorry for the girl and wanting to help, but also not wanting to overstep her boundaries. “Oh, sorry,” she said softly, taking another step away. “S-sorry,” she repeated, before turning away to leave.

As the girl turned away, Adelaide let out a strangled sob. “No! Don’t--!” The brunette started to scream, but her voice slowly died down into a whisper. “Don’t leave.” Suddenly, she screamed again, “Why does it have to be like this?” Adelaide stared at the damp ground, pursing her lips to hold back a sob.
