Lee Sung Kyung for Grazia ♥
Aubrey had been glancing at the person sitting next to her for a while now, they seemed so blissfully unaware of their situation. After muttering a quick ‘excuse me’, she brushed her little finger against the tip of the other’s nose. “There you go. Much better. How did you manage to get dirt on your nose, anyway?”

“Oh! Wine sounds so good right about now.” Mika agreed with Aubrey. “Yeah it would be nice for the, to not screw this up. Wait a second? Did you say twenty seven?” Mika was shocked. “That’s insane. Did you ever get caught? Or did you just automatically buy a new one?” Mika asked interested in the girl’s story.
“If everything goes well, we’re thirty minutes away from a fine glass of wine.” She closed her eyes in anticipation. “I know, ridiculous, right? It was a friend of a friend who recommended this guy to me but it turned out to be a total failure. Actually.. I didn’t do anything. I always went to stores or bars with older friends or relied on the power of a girl’s persuasion.” She lightly shrugged. “What’s your story? Did you lose yours or just wanted to buy a new one?”

Rivan chuckled at her dramatic movements, finding her to be physically acting out exactly how he was feeling. It was so nice to know that someone else was struggling as hard as he was. “Well, if we’re both hopeless… Why not abandon it? No point in trying for a hopeless cause, right?” He shut his book, quickly putting it aside as a smile formed on his lips. “What do you want to do instead?”
Aubrey’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. That’s basically what she wanted to hear all along as she needed an excuse to get out of the library. “Anything else other than staying here any longer. The day is nice, maybe we should get lattes and head outside?”

Rivan was surprised at the girl’s outburst, tearing his eyes away from his textbook and towards the person who’d responded to him. “If X signifies failure, then definitely.” He chuckled, glancing down again at the nonsense on the page in front of him. “I’m studying for Algebra… 101, I think? Hard to keep track of.” He ran his hand through his long, curly hair, partly in frustration that he couldn’t even remember what the class was called, and partly out of habit. “Is that what you’re studying?”
Aubrey fell back in her seat again. Perhaps her theatrical reaction was a way of waking up from the lethargic spell of Algebra and surely the other’s words were enough to make her feel better for her incompetence. “It does, a glorious failure in my case. You think? We are both hopeless, then.” She replied, softly chuckling. “I’m studying for Algebra too. What do you say? Should we struggle with it some more or abandon it for now?”
“You’re the one who covered for me?” “I’m not the only one here.”
okay - I think I owe one or two replies more. I’ll get to them tomorrow. until then, happy international women’s day!!

Fake IDs were nothing new to Mika, in fact she used to have one, but being the stubborn ass she was, she threw it out cause the guy who made it was shitty. This guy that she was going to now seemed a little shady, but Mika still had a few years before she was actually 21, and she couldn’t survive without one. “Yeah you’re probably right.” Mika replied. “I don’t know why I’m so anxious about it. Maybe ‘cause I ran out of beer in my fridge and I have no way of buying more.”
“I get it.” Aubrey couldn’t help her chuckling. “More than a week without wine and I go crazy.” Although she didn’t know Mika that well to be going to a strange place to buy fake identities with her, she was sick and tired of relying on others to buy her drinks in bars. So there they were, both of them desperate, approaching their destination. It would be a lie to say that Aubrey didn’t feel relieved to have another person with her, walking a bit too close to Mika than normal. “I just hope he remembered that I’m Korean. The last person I went to, wrote down an Indian name and made me twenty seven years old.”
“Hello?” Clarence said into the phone. “Happy Birthday, son!” Francis’ voice boomed over the other end, certainly loud enough for anyone to hear, even without speaker phone. Clarence recoiled a bit, holding the phone away from his ear. As of late, he’d been getting better at not relying on his tough guy act, but he also hadn’t spoken to his father recently. “Thanks, dad,” he replied. “Got any fun plans for tonight? Maybe some drinks or something?” Clarence didn’t have any plans, actually. He’d never been big on birthday celebrations. Usually, the day came and went without anything special. “Yep, you know it,” he lied, wincing a bit at how unconvincing that sounded. Francis, however, seemed none the wiser. “Atta boy! You have fun tonight, alright? Have a beer on me.” His father didn’t wait for a response before hanging up, and Clarence couldn’t have been more grateful. His shoulders slumped in relief, tension swiftly leaving his body.
Glancing up when he heard a voice, Clarence cleared his throat awkwardly. “Sorry uh– Did you say something?”
Aubrey avoided prying into other people’s business, especially overhearing random conversations, even when they could be heard loud and clear, such as this one. Getting up in order to leave, her body froze at the sound of three little words. Birthday. Drinks. Fun. “Yes.” Aubrey replied, turning around with a half smile. “That you should lower the volume of your phone. And Happy Birthday.”

“You call them brutal– I call them interesting. Do you have any idea on how much creativity that guy must have? I mean– It isn’t like any slasher film where they just stab someone and there’s that.” Carmen shrugged, “you seem a bit… taken aback, might I say.”
“I guess one does not exclude the other. Of course, that’s why the franchise was such a big hit. I prefer psychological thrillers, however, with a good ending.” She emphasized on her last words. Aubrey stared at the other for a while, wondering if she should answer or not. The lines where blurred; were they playing a game, were they conversing? Incapable of reading people, she was only certain that the other was full of surprises. “How can I not be?”

“yes– straight ahead. dream house– i live with reese. reese ham?? that’s my roommate. she’s great,” winnie rambled on, already walking in the direction of her home. the blonde just assumed her friend would follow in tow. “um– where do i begin? it was one of our friends birthdays… he lived in fantasy palace, so we went there. it started out as just my friends from home, but then a toooon of random people showed up. it wasn’t a bad thing, it was fun… the more the merrier, y’know? only, eventually, i couldn’t find any of my friends…”
“The name does ring a bell, but..um..” Aubrey shrugged, she was better recognizing faces than names. Quickly but steadily, she caught up with Winnie’s pace. “A party on a weekday? That’s bold.” Aubrey nodded, somewhat impressed. “Say no more - I totally understand. Just drink lots of water later and head straight to bed.”

“Please, nothing’s ever too violent,” she snorted, unless of course they were in Wonderland, where people was forced to watch their families get beheaded, now that was violent. “What else would we be talking about?”
“I’m pretty sure some murders in the film were freaking brutal.” Aubrey shook her head. “Nothing? I was just.. checking.”
