ripleywarbeck:
â this school is ridiculously fancy. maybe i should have transferred here instead of aquaria. â ripley looked around, feeling a bit out of place among all of the students. it was times like this when he cursed being short and unable to stand on his toes to see what was going on all around him.Â
Adele scoffed, âIâd NEVER want to be at a school like Aquaria,â she shook her head, acting as if the thought was heinous in itself. While she knew sheâd be at the school soon enough, she didnât need to be pleased about it. âYou shouldâve come here, itâs the best and now everyone knows it. Including you. The urge to drown idiots at that school must be overwhelming.â
isaiahtravers:
isaiah would have been feeling claustrophobic, if he were the type. the grand ballroom had never been so crowded; but instead of feeling overwhelmed, he observed the newcomers with a keen eye and even expression. they were the hosts, after all, and he had to present a good front, even if he had no plans in partaking in the tournament himself (adele was planning to enter, and for that reason alone heâd tolerate the noisy intrusions). turning to the person on his right, he smiled as they examined the dish in front of them warily, âitâs al machboos, a dish found frequently in this area. itâs quite goodâfilling, too.â
âALWAYS such the gentlemen,â Adele said, her voice kinder than it usually is -- which isnât surprising when it comes to Isaiah. Really, she admired it, the way he was so easygoing with others & while she knew it was born from being the perfect son who knew how to carry the family name and the politics that came with it, it didnât make it any less awe-worthy for her. Looking at the person Isaiah was talking to, Adeleâs expression changed slightly to something more bored, âitâs really just a better version of chicken and rice, you donât have to look at it like itâs a bloody Hippogriff head or something.â
nathanieltvft:
nate smirked as his name was announced as one of the instituteâs team members, âhardly a surpriseâ-the only thing left to wonder is just how much weâll beat everyone else by. letâs not forget the united states tends to excel when it comes to global conflict.â
ââ âYou and your family of KNOCK OFF KENNEDYS are going to be deeply deeply embarrassed by you and your teams performance,â Adele may have been a privileged person, probably as insufferable as Nate was at times ( or so sheâd heard from various people ), but at least she didnât gloat about a country as broken as the U.S. âThe only thing left to wonder is how.â
weasleyro:
Roxanne couldnât help the laughter that escaped her lips as the Hogwarts team names were announced. âHow many people do you suppose think itâs rigged? Every member in the same familyâŠ. er basically.â She added, thinking of Teddy.
ââ âLetâs put it this way Weasley, you all mightâve gotten it but everyone, and I mean EVERYONE in the entirety Wizarding World knows that you all donât actually deserve it. At all.â Adele looked away for a moment, casually scanning the crowd. âI wonder how that feels, to know that some people have to actually work what they have and you all just .... float on like drunk pieces of lint attached to the next big tournament or event.â
dominicmacnair:
For a second Dominic was speechless. Sheâd hit him exactly where it hurt this time. He was dulled enough mentally, however, to forget exactly what sheâd said about his father seconds later. He was left only with the feeling that was always with him, the feeling of an ever-growing pit in his stomach. âGo fuck yourself, Adele. Oh, wait, I already did.â
ââ  She shuddered at his comment, the thought, the memory. He used their friendship as a weapon, had he ever valued it or had he just used to her to get ahead?? Obviously the latter. Dominic got everything he deserved, âis that it?? Youâre pathetic. Youâre a waste. Youâre an unintelligent, disloyal, fucking waste of space.â Adele pushed him them, both hands finding their way against his chest violently. âDIE.â
hcllfircs:
Cool and cordial, the raven-headed champion accepted the onslaught of well wishes with a poised smile. When a familiar face came into view, Anna hooked their elbows and spun them away from the crowd, questioning, âdo you really think theyâd notice if I slipped out for a bit??â
ââ âSeeing as youâre pretty irrelevant, I doubt they would,â Adele said simply, looking at ANNA MOON, someone she knew to not be irrelevant but it didnât stop the insult from coming out of her mouth. âMaybe if you slipped out and slipped on SOMETHING, weâd never have to see you or your horrendous dye job again, hmm??â
dominicmacnair:
âAdele.â He greeted, swaying slightly when she pushed into him. âI see the new pedestal is treating you well. Why donât you see if your betrothed is around so he can go put another stick up your ass?â
ââ Â âJust because youâre bitter that you probably got chosen on your schoolâs behalf to compete because they needed a charity case, doesnât mean you have to take it out on me. Iâm surprised your father hasnât given you back yet,â though her words before had been malicious, this time there was an obvious intent behind her words that spelt RANCOR. âIf you ever speak about Isaiah again, Iâll make sure youâll have a hard time speaking for quite a while.â
denderayaxley:
Denderaâs head shot up in surprise at her name being called, as she didnât honestly think sheâd be chosen to represent her house. She wasnât sure her abilities were particularly useful enough to land her a spot on the team. She quickly schooled her features into a smirk and looked around her, âGet ready for the Maladh team to kick all your asses.â
ââ Adele knew that she hadnât been the best to some of her TEAMMATES over their career at school ( in fact, if she really tried she could recall a time when she was horrible to each and every one of them ), so when she realized that the competition meant working with them, she was set to make some sort of amends. âThat we are, congratulations, Yaxley. Dendera Yaxley, right?? Weâll be the best team there, Iâm sure of it.â

dominicmacnair:
Dominic exited the bathroom feeling refreshed. Not because he had taken a shit, but rather because he had snorted several lines of coke. Hovering for a second outside the bathroom door, he looked over his shoulder to find the bar. It almost felt like the ambien wasnât effecting him anymore, but he knew it had its own place in his carefully layered high. Deciding he needed a cigarette before the drink, Dominic pushed through the crowd and headed outside.Â
ââ  Adele wanted to ignore him like she had been doing, especially tonight, but as fate would have it at the most inopportune time sheâd run right into him. Really, heâd run into her, and as Adele surveyed him, all dilated pupils, all signs showing Dominic wasnât really there she realized nothing really changed with him, not really. âI see youâre still the miserable, drug addicted, USELESS, sack of nothing youâve always been,â she spat, pushing knocking him with her shoulder as hard as she could muster without making too much of a scene.Â
isaiahtravers:
isaiah had hung back after the announcements were made, his expression as passive as it ever was but something a bit harder to identify shining in his eyes as he watched adele soak up the recognition heâd always known she deserved. and she was radiantâas alwaysâthe picture of composed dignity and strength, and he allowed his features to soften as she approached him, a genuine, soft smile flitting across his face as he held out his hand for her to take, gesturing to the dance floor.
âalways.â he answered easily, pulling her close, âadele rosier, colligo championâ-has quite the ring to it, doesnât it?â because just as heâd had no doubt that she couldnât not be selected, he knew she would win. his voice took on a playful lilt as he continued, âi am proud of you, but itâs no less than you deserve, adele, so i canât say iâm surprised.â
ââ  Around Isaiah it was easy to lose herself, something she hated to admit she was doing, but she needed a break, to drop obligation and give into what she wanted. When she thought about it, really let herself think about it, she saw herself happy with Isaiah and even if their relationship had only been a real one for almost a year -- she saw her FUTURE with him. Times like this, she wanted to be better, to be the person he knew he saw her as. Giving him a kiss on the cheek as they made their way to the dance floor, she was all smiles, she was all what she never could be around most others. âIt has the most beautiful ring to it, I think.â
Heâd never know how much it meant that he supported her, and she wanted to cry from happiness. Adele had to look down for a moment, before smiling back up at him again, âthank you, Isaiah. I couldnât have done it without you, I donât think,â while she could almost hear him already negating that, saying that sheâd done it herself, she continued. âIâm not sure you realize how much your FAITH in me, in just, so much, means to me.âÂ
tessafischer:
âThis is boring,â Tessa sighed. The energy of being named a champion still pumped thick in her veins, but it seemed as if the party atmosphere had all but vanished. âI thought the announcement would get people up, not kill the vibe.â She huffed, and searched for any familiar face. âHey, you! Yeah, you. Come dance with me.â
ââ Â Adele was more than excited to be chosen, in fact, after the announcement she noticed the crowdâs energy turn a little sour -- she chalked it up to bitterness. Because, if it was her, and she hadnât been chosen -- she wouldnât have been JUST bitter, she wouldâve been d e s t r u c t i v e. In fact, it was hard for her then to not turn to it, to finding people to destroy, especially competing champions, and for most of the night she had been able to keep a lid on it. Yes, there was a comment here and there, but that was normal. She hadnât even been on point with them. When Tessa had been called, however, her stomach had dropped realizing what it meant now. Did she want to face it?? Did she want to give in??Â
( Honestly, she WANTED to rip Tessa apart. There was a jealousy she felt, how come she wasnât as soft as Tessa. If she was nice LIKE TESSA, maybe sheâd be more likable ( maybe sheâd be the perfect daughter her father always wanted ). If she could look less like herself, more normal, not all flaming red hair and cruel intentions but smiles and fierce comebacks construed as feisty not dirty. Nasty. Balanced, like TESSA. Adele couldnât help what she was, unapologetic sharp edges with a penchant for causing trouble. Truthfully, being who she was was how she SURVIVED the most important people in her life knew that -- so it didnât fucking matter what anyone else thought. But still, the thought still stood -- why couldnât she be Tessa. )Â
Adele hated that these feelings had to pop up now, of all times. Their friendship had been something foreign to her, in many senses, but purely because when she saw Tessa, she saw a friend. Not a rival. Not an enemy. She remembered when theyâd found out theyâd been going to school together, there was an excitement ( though, Adele had pushed down the DREAD ) that had carried them until now. Until Adeleâs smile was strained as she got up to dance with her friend. âYouâre going to EMBARASS me, Tessa, youâre such a better dancer than me. All these people must not be dancing for a reason.â
February comes donning every shade of red. She breaks over the horizon, full bloom. Drapes herself in silk like a pipe dream. Calls herself highness, asks for temples in her name. Donations of blood and scarlet wine. Bright carnations and crawling roses. Make everything into a metaphor. Keep it short and sweet, let her be the only thing of substance. She carried herself like royalty, like the highest Goddess. There is meaning in the madness. She sacrifices. She seethes. She is a woman in motion. A flurry of vermilion snow. Bloodstained teeth. Says, I chewed up the memories and spit them out. Stomped on them. Doused them in water. Maybe now everything will stop tasting of cherries.

rip had been expecting this, even if he acted like he was so surprised at getting chosen. he gave a small smile. âwow! i canât believe it. itâs such an honor.âÂ
âIsnât it??â Adele smiled over at who she recognized to Ripley Warbeck, her COMPETITION. âWell, I suppose it was until I realized they let Elf-ish Peter Pan looking boys into the tournament. Here I thought the competition might actually look like competition but I could snap you like a twig, couldnât I??â
yelenabrezhneva:
â could this line be any longer? â itâs not that hard to fill a cup. â
âYelena,â Adele gave a strained smile filled with anything but warmth. âWell, youâre OVERESTIMATING the peopleâs abilities to think.â
The first thing Adele thought was -- father will be so proud of me. Sheâd been chosen, chosen out of the people who hadnât been sheâd been CHOSEN. Surely, heâd finally give her the love & acceptance she deserved, right??Â
Now wasnât the time to think about that, now was the time to celebrate. The only person she could imagine, she knew would be happy just for her and not because of what it meant was Isaiah. The only person she wanted to share this victory was with Isaiah. Going to his side after sheâd finished pictures and all the other formalities -- Â Adele felt like she was FLOATING.Â
Resting her hand gently on his shoulder to alert him of her presence, she cooed, âproud of me, darling??â
