Happy holidays from AdeNine! <3
This is long overdue... but...
The power of believing! Perseverance! Hard work! Faith!
We competed at World of Dance Vancouver this fall! It was a tough journey: only about a week to practice, conflicting schedules, hardly any complete practices, small practice spaces, costume confusions-- the list goes on! We were so flustered and scared to the point that the majority of us wanted to quit. We were up against so many AMAZING teams that it made us feel so small and discouraged. How could we go up against group x and y and k and m?
But in the end... we did it! We persevered, we believed in ourselves, we worked hard, we trusted God, and we achieved! Well, we got 9th place out of 11; but 9th place among many talented groups. Our belief and faith in ourselves and God pushed us through and helped us get past our fear. Most of all, we accepted and valued who we are: AdeNINE.
Competing wasn't about winning. It was about "being better than ourselves-- better than our past dances, and individually better dancers than ourselves" (Larissa). We did just that and we will continue to better ourselves with every challenge God blesses us with. No, we're not like group x or group y or group k or group m... We're AdeNINE, as cheesy as that sounds. We are 9 beautiful, smart, strong women who have their own individual talents. No one is like us-- and that is our strength and what we have to offer!
God works in mysterious ways. Out of all the groups that applied to compete, we were given the rare opportunity. I think that says SOMETHING about us and what we're capable of :)

A little boy asked his mother, "Why are you crying?" "Because I'm a woman," she told him. "I don't understand," he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, "And you never will." Later the little boy asked his father, "Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?" "All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say. The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry. Finally he put in a call to God. When God got on the phone, he asked, "God, why do women cry so easily?" God said, "When I made the woman she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort. I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children. I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining. I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly. I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart. I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly. And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed." "You see my son," said God, "the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides."

We dream of what we would do IF… if I had a better education; if I wasn’t tied down to this mortgage; if the economy was better; if people treated me better; if God would come through for me; etc. Notice the common thread of failure: IF. CHANGE IT TODAY:
1. Drop the “IF”. Stop waiting for things to get better, before you make them better. Give up the excuse of “if only.” “If only I had this, or if only I had that.”
2. FACE life as it is. But don’t ACCEPT it as it is. The four friends of the paralytic couldn’t find a way in the house, because of the crowd (Mark 2:4). So they went up on the roof. They found a way, where there was no way. They didn’t accept life as it was, but faced life as it was, and experienced the will of God.
3. Recognize YOU HOLD the power to do something with your life, regardless of the economy, your upbringing, your past mistakes. God has given you SEED to plant (your words, your choices, your money, etc.). Begin each day sowing a seed of faith, joy, love or hope. You have a smile—use it. You have a mouth to speak God’s Word; to declare His praise—do it.
4. Don’t wait for the perfect conditions. Ecclesiastes 11:4 “He who watches the wind will not sow and he who looks at the clouds will not reap.” Don’t wait for the stock market, or real estate or the media to get better, before you do what you know to do. Make your life better by sowing the right seeds, beginning TODAY. Make good choices TODAY.
5. FORGET NONE OF HIS BENEFITS. Focus on the good you already have; what God HAS already done. (Psalm 103:2-4) He forgives all. He heals all. He redeems us from all destruction. The old hymn says: “For He has done great things. He has done great things. Bless His Holy Name!”
THINK IT & DECLARE IT I don’t need things to be different before I succeed. I will make them different. I have the power to sow the seeds of a better life. I will not just accept whatever life brings. I will face it with faith and find a way through it. I will remember what God has done. He pardons all my sins. He heals all my diseases. He crowns me with victory. He satisfies my life with good things so that my youth, vitality and outlook on life is refreshed and renewed.
"We must cling to the image of the One who gives life -- beholding true beauty, bringing victory over strife."
"The sufferings at the present time are just not worthy to be compared to the glory that should be revealed in us."
Miss Philippines 2011 Question and Answer
Vivica A. Fox: Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person you love? Why or why not?
Shamcey Supsup: If I would have to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love. Because the first person that I love is God, who created me. I have my faith and my principles, and this is what makes me who I am. If the person loves me, he'll love my God too.

From Surrey's The Now newspaper:
At God's Little Acre, there's an estimated 70,000 pounds of potatoes that need to be harvested for the city's poor.
The South Surrey farm, an initiative started by local farmer Jas Singh, has a space that is being utilized to grow vegetables for the Surrey Food Bank and other charitable organizations in need.
Singh initially estimated there were going to be 50,000 pounds of potatoes yielded, but it's now looking like there will be about 70,000 pounds.
"He has grown these potatoes for the purpose of giving them to the food bank. He's strictly giving them away," said Tanya Ponnan, manager of development for the Surrey Food Bank.
"Fresh produce is one of the hardest things to come by. It's very important. Canned goods are great because they have a longer shelf life but produce is something we don't always get."
Volunteer groups have been at the farm with Ponnan and Singh for the last week, helping harvest the massive amounts of potatoes that need to come out of the ground.
And they need a lot more help, Ponnan said, adding that they hope to get all the potatoes out of the ground by the end of September.
Most of the harvesting sessions are happening at 5 p.m. and they are looking for volunteer groups of about seven people or more.
Ponnan said that even if people don't have a group, individuals can call the food bank and help out when another group is scheduled to be harvesting.
A large portion of the potatoes are set to be stored on the farm site for a fee.
Ponnan said that what the Surrey Food Bank can't use, it will donate to other local food banks.

“I find it funny when people hate on someone just to get attention. If you’re a hater let me put it like this, at the end of the day look at where you’re at and look at where the person you’re hating on is at. I’m pretty sure there are more productive things to do in life than to sit on your computer and hate on someone that you don’t even know.”
