Adhd Problem #26
iām a mess
My art IG: @/sketchypepper
So iāve posted on here a few times about some of my hyperfixations and stuff, so today i thought that iād make a post about my art.
These are a few projects iāve done/ have started on recently. I also have recently picked up painting, but they arenāt that good so i wonāt post any unless asked.
Ive always really enjoyed drawing but didnāt really get into it until about three years ago after a drew a dumb little sketch of a girl laying down and my family really liked it, which prompted me to make more and more art.
Over the course of my life iāve drawn A LOT and find that while doing so, i tend to hyper focus and lose track of time for hours of my day, and come back to see how much iāve done. I completely lose myself in it, and even though they donāt end up looking great, i still love it.
Iāve found that it helps calm my brain and feel in whole thoughts and anxieties i have, often which i trace back to my ADHD. my adhd also often leads to me going months without making any art, but i always find my way back.
The main thing here is, find something your decent at, or just something you love doing, and hone into it. And donāt let anyone tell you to stop.
Thatās all for today, sorry for a nonsensical ramble lol.
Hello friend, is it a thing to be aware of the fact that stuff you're really passionate about/hyperfixations will wear away soon and trying to not get bored of it because you really like it but you know in like 1 week it won't be interesting anymore, or is that just me? š It's like I can feel the excitement slipping away and desperately trying to grasp onto it.
This is a very late response, but definitely! That happens to me all the time and i get how sad it can be because it used to give you so much joy lmao.
I donāt really know how to avoid that, but iāve come to enjoy all the different things my brain will gravitate towards and find entertaining, it usually means iāll like more stuff and can do things with others bc im not very decisive. š¤·āāļø

ADHD Problem #22
Losing! everything!
Solution: go minimalist.
I have a jacket I wear everyday that I keep my bus card/ wallet/ keys in. I donāt have to worry about it.
If you donāt have a lot of stuff, you cant lose it.
The stuff you do need, develop a habit to put it back after you use it. In the same place.
I used to misplace my stuff a lot so Iāve gone out of my way to make sure I donāt have to actively remember where I put stuff.
Since a problem with ADHD is that we canāt remember stuff, set up systems so you donāt have to.

Struggling so much with what you think is lack of self control while the people around you repeatedly begin to become tired of your talkativeness and how all over the place you are and eventually choosing to not pay attention to it and fall into your own little void
Oof. I feel this. My friends outright ignore me me cause of my tendency to talk a lot of nothing.
This is an RSD issue, except its both perceived and actual rejection. There is also an aspect of lack of control (helplessness) and self esteem.
As you said, you cant help your talkative nature but that is causing your friends to ābecome tired of your talkativenessā. You feel rejected for an aspect of yourself that you cant control.
That can absolutely be maddening. You feel like you just canāt do ANYTHING.
I donāt have an advice for this as much so Iāll just say how I came to terms with it:
1) I came to terms with the fact that I am over talkative and NT people canāt deal with it as easily. I know I talk a lot of nothing, making a LOT of bad jokes (the mods of my ADHD servers are sick of it already and ignore my bad jokes :P).
This is where self esteem comes into play. As I grew more confident, I didnt take being ignored so personally. I knew they were still my friends and they were ignoring me cause they couldnāt deal with my level of talking :P
2) The RSD aspect; it might be a little bit of actual rejection, its significantly more percieved rejection.
As over talktative people, we canāt expect people to reciprocate our high amounts of talking. NT people just canāt think the same way as ADHDers nor process stuff in the same way.
This is why I say its more perceived: their reaction is most likely cause they canāt process it as we do.
It would be like speaking fluent French to a new Frech speaker. We canāt really expect them to reciprocate. And its not really cause theyāre rejecting is. They just canāt do it.

The fact that I havenāt been on this blog in two weeks because i forgot it existed
the best description of my ADHD is that trying to focus or ground myself is a good thing like trying to nail jello to a wall
My two modes
1. Watching 3 hours of videos without a single interruption
2. Constantly stopping a 5 minute video because I canāt seem to stay focused long enough to get through itĀ

Losing! everything!
ADHD in girls and women is still under-diagnosed. This video is a pretty cool summary of how to recognize signs and symptoms.
Does anyone else with changing hyperfixations/special interests get that situation where your brain suddenly starts cycling through all of your old ones at high speed?
