Phato Bihu Playground, Dhakuakhana, Assam dated the 12th of May, 2018. I was whiling away my time at the playground clicking photos of the beautiful maidens swaying their bodies to the rhythm of the dhol when this person came up to me and introduced himself...we had some small talk..mostly about religion and karma...later when I requested a for a photograph, he stood upright as his lips curled into this warm smile... অগ্নি শিখা (Flames) ঢেকীয়াখোৱা বৰনামঘৰ, যোৰহাট, অসম. (Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar, Jorhat Assam) The month of Bhado (Beginning from Mid August) is pious for the Assamese...all Namghars (prayer abodes) across the State are thronged with people from far and near who come to pray for the wellbeing of the world around them. The flame here belongs to the saki (an oil lamp) that has been kept aflame for centuries...some people claim it to be the oldest burning oil lamp in the world! (at Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar)
