"uh, hi! My name is Dorian Hale. But feel free to just call me Dorian, I'm a gen collector and I really like sea life too!"
"I'm in a little... Uh, movement, I suppose you could call it. And we could always use more members!"
“Mr Dorian, can I stay the night tonight?”
He’d been knocking on the mad door and repeating the question over and over. Hiding away from his mother for this long wasn’t easy, but maybe if he had somewhere to stay, he’d be well off.
“I think mommas mad at me and she’ll think I’m at papas when I disappear for too long. I don’t think she’d check here.”
- @whittman-jr
Dorian had just woken up from having fallen asleep in front of the TV... Again. And had opened the door to find the little boy standing there
"hey... Of course you can. You don't need to ask to stay over, you know that"
“I- I know. Momma yells at me when I don’t ask though. Says it’s not polite to come into someone’s house uninvited.”
He looked down.
“I- I’m sorry for the… urgency? She’s just been…”
He clings to Dorian. He’s barely able to keep himself crying for now.
"shh.. it's okay.. it's okay.." Dorian spoke softly, gently leading gray into the house before gently shutting and locking the door "you never need to ask me to come in.. okay? You're always welcome in my home, gray. You know that.."
“I- I… it’s just momma doesn’t like it when I don’t listen. She gets mean.”
He frowns, but he does look up. It’s clear that he’d been crying earlier.
“where do you want me to stay around here, Mr dorian?”
"You can sleep in my room, gray" Dorian told him "I can sleep on the couch in the living room, I don't mind"
“No, cause then your back’ll hurt. I’ve heard momma talk about that before when she gets home from the bar, and the whole next day she’s got a headache and back pain..”
He holds on tighter.
“Plus, I need someone to keep the nightmares away. My plushies usually do it, but I didn’t get time to get em before I came here…”
"I can be with you if you really want.." Dorian said softly, gently wrapping his arms around Dorian to return the hug
“Mr Dorian, can I stay the night tonight?”
He’d been knocking on the mad door and repeating the question over and over. Hiding away from his mother for this long wasn’t easy, but maybe if he had somewhere to stay, he’d be well off.

[It had been years after Dorian had let surge out of vee tower, and now he was walking in downtown pride city. Dodging flying knives or whatever was flying at him from demons around him fighting.]
[Vox had gotten.. angrier since then, to say the least. He still hated Dorian with all he had, maybe even more so now, since he knew no one else could've let surge go.]
@adiamondinth3rough
[there was a soft teal glow from the alleyway. Surge, making a deal with a small, wiry demon.]
“Well, as long as you uphold my requests, we won’t have any issues, now will we, boy?”
[he fixes himself, sparks flying off his teal body. He’d no desire to go back to the tower, so he stayed as far away as he could, sticking to dark alleys and when there were employees scrambling for him- on their little yearly escapade for him- he’d just lay low for a few days and come out when it was safe.]
[there was one employee he missed, though. Dorian, though he hated to admit it, grew on him after his escape. He supposes Dorian was over him, and he had thought much the same when he had his last boyfriend, but now as a single man, he’d been thinking about Dorian again.]
[he hated it.]
[Dorian was SUPPOSED to be looking for surge, but he wasn't really trying. He didn't really want to bring surge back to the tower, so even if he did find him, he was going to let him go.]
[he saw the slight teal glow out of the corner of his eye, and turned his head, making direct eye contact with surge]
[he stops as soon as he notices Dorian’s there, whispering something to the poor man who’s soul was now in his possession.]
“Oh, Dorian, mon Cher, my sweet, my love, oh, how have you been?”
[he’s play flirting, it seems. Disingenuous, clearly just a joke, as he approaches Dorian, grabbing Dorian’s hand before wrapping an arm around his waist. Surge is hot to the touch- being made of pure energy doesn’t particularly give you room to be cold.]
"I.. could be doing worse." [Dorian said softly, the crystals adorning his body shimmering softly from the light emanating from surge's body. He wasn't necessarily lying, but he could also be doing better. Vox had gotten worse. Not that he was going to tell surge that, though]
“You could also be doing better, I bet.”
[he smiles at Dorian. He’d fiddles with Dorian’s hair, shocking him a little.]
“I’ve been doing great, can’t you tell? Not every waking moment is in agony.”
[he pauses for a moment.]
“Is he tracking you?”
[Dorian jerked slightly at being shocked, but he quickly recovered]
"probably not.. he doesn't track me anymore. I don't know why.."
You should come with me!
[he looks Dorian up and down.]
Thought he’d have gotten rid of ya by now, but… maybe you really are something to him.
[he doesn’t say that Dorian is something to him.]
"I would.. but how would vox react?"
[Dorian still cared about vox, even if he didn't want to admit it. But he did, truly, want to go with surge]
“Dorian. Listen to me.”
[he grabs Dorian by the shoulders.]
“I loved him once too, and we all know what he did to me.”
"I.. I know.."
[Dorian whispered, he knew what vox did to surge, but he couldn't bring himself to hate him. He loved the man too much.]
“Please, just- just think about it, okay? I’ll- I’ll give you my address if you ever change your mind.”
[he digs around in his pockets of his torn up jeans for a piece of paper or- anything, really.]
"o..okay.."
[Dorian nodded, watching surge]
[he finds a crumpled up piece of of paper before he pins it against the wall and uses his electricity to form the words. He hands it to Dorian after.]
“Here. Just… stop by sometime? Send a letter?”
"yeah.. yeah I will." [Dorian promised, putting the paper in his pocket before watching surge walk away]

[he saw the slight teal glow out of the corner of his eye, and turned his head, making direct eye contact with surge]
[the power had been flickering for a bit. Up until about five minutes ago, it was still on, albeit flickering and turning off and on frequently. Now, the Vee tower only had a couple of backup generators as surge ran for the metal door keeping him in. The door is locket by a keypad, which he’s trying to force open by shocking it with electricity through the door handle.]
[he knew he’d be caught before he got the chance to get out. Still, he had to try.]
- @st0rm-surg3
[Dorian had gone down to the basement to check on surge, as vox was getting pretty pissed off at the lights flickering, when he heard him slamming his body against the metal door]
"you're going to hurt yourself." [He said simply, standing on the other side of the door]
“You say that as if you care.”
[despite how he acts, he truly is scared of Dorian in this moment. Surge hasn’t seen anyone other than technicians for over a month, and he knows that Dorian won’t let him go without a fight. That’s exactly what he’s prepared himself for, truthfully.]
“Please just let me go. I’ll get out of your hair, and you won’t die. Deal?”
"You know I Can— won't do that." [Dorian told him, stopping himself from saying "Can't". He truly did care about surge, but he couldn't bring himself to disobey vox in anyway]
“You’re a pretty little thing. Those gems are mighty fine. Bet that hurt like a bitch when you died, huh?”
[he twirls his “hair,” the electricity curling around his finger. He’s obviously trying to flirt his way out, maybe even joking.]
"...yeah, it did." [Dorian said simply, not wanting to explain how he died to the man. He didn't like talking about his death in general, as being reminded of it sent shocks of pain through him every time.]
“Wonder if it was more painful than mine.”
[he places his hand against the glass. It’s probably the first time in twenty years that Surge has done anything remotely gentle.]
“Being tased to death is… not a fun way to go, I suppose.”
"... neither is being stabbed in the eye by a crystal." [Dorian whispered, his voice barely audible as he put his hand over surge's on the glass, the crystals adorning his body glinting from the light of surge's electricity]
“At least yours went quick. Probably.”
[he slumps against the door.]
“You aren’t as bad as Vox. Still pretty bad. You wouldn’t be in hell if you were truly good.”
"is anyone truly good?" [Dorian asked, watching surge through the glass for a few minutes before speaking again, his voice soft]
"if I open the door, you can't run, okay?"
“Not really. Not anymore, at least. Maybe when we were children.”
[he just admires Dorian through the door. He’d thought about Dorian a fair bit, but never like this. Dorian had wanted to hurt him before, right?]
[that’s what Vox wanted from him, at least.]
“I promise.”
[Dorian's gaze was soft, as he slowly unlocked the door, opening it. His body was tense, it was clear that he was prepared for surge to run, or to electrocute him]
[he stands there for a second.]
“I- thank you. Thank you so much.”
[his first instinct is to run, but he just goes to hug Dorian. It’s the least he can do to thank him. No matter how many arguments they’d had in that basement.]
[surge doesn’t remember the last time he’d hugged anyone.]
[Dorian froze, he didn't remember the last time he'd been hugged, especially not so.. gently. Vox barely even talked to him anymore, let alone hugged him..]
"I... You're.. you're welcome."
[he stays there for a moment. He looks longingly towards the escape. He weighed the options. Would he even be able to see Dorian safely if he got out? Would loneliness hurt less than having his energy stolen from him?]
“What now?…”
"I don't.. I don't know.." [Dorian admitted softly, he didn't want to leave vox. Or rather, he was scared that vox was going to find him eventually and kill both him and surge]
“I can’t stay here anymore. I have to at least try to leave, Dorian. They- they siphon off my energy, you know- and it hurts like hell to exist. I can’t keep living like this.”
[he looks sad to say it. He knows he’d be lonely out there. He’d find some place nice for the night, far far away from here. He doesn’t know why he’d miss Dorian, of all people. Dorian had hurt him plenty of times.]
[he’d get over it eventually, he thinks.]
"I– I know.. but If I let you leave then—"
['Then vox would hate me' he thought, but vox hates him already, even though he didn't mean to. Dorian was the cause of vox's death and he knew it. But he was just.. afraid. But if he had warned vox that the TV was going to fall, then maybe vox wouldn't treat him as bad as he does, and wouldn't hate his guts]
“Then I keep getting hurt. Please, Dorian, I don’t ask for a lot, I just want to leave.”
[he’s desperate now, all that flirting reduced to nothing but almost a panic. He’s a caged animal, really, feral and desperate for an escape.]
“You- you can come with me! You probably know your way around the city, no doubt they’ve changed it since last time I was free…”
"But- vox would find me. He always does.. it doesn't matter what I do"
[Dorian's voice broke, he was stuck. He wanted to leave, to be free from vox, but he couldn't bring himself to leave. He owed vox for what he did. He was the reason he died—]
“Then I’ll go on my own.”
[he sighs, stepping away.]
“Guess you’ll find me one day. Either you will, or Voxtek will drag me back and-“
“You’ll see me again. I promise.”
"I'm sorry.."
[Dorian said softly, watching as surge left. He knew vox would be pissed off, but when was he not mad at him?]
