❝ funny enough, the heat’s the only thing about this place that actually works most of the time. if it were summer, we’d be under the mercy of a few cheap fans, since the AC refuses to stay on. ❞ a smile tugs at dani’s lips as she leans down, attention turned towards the slender, green eyed cat now nudging up lovingly against her legs. ❝ hey, petey. you know, i’m pretty sure this is the only cat in the world that doesn’t hate me, rod. ❞
fingers brush over the grey fur for a few moments more before she straightens and looks back up at roderick. ❝ so. chinese? pizza? indian? i was about to order in for dinner, but i have no idea what i want, and obviously i can’t starve you to death while you’re here. well, i could, but again. a saint. ❞
“Garfield will love you too if you feed him, but Pluto,” Roderick’s attention briefly drifts to the cat crouching by his head. Lifting a hand, he strokes Pluto’s neck and is rewarded by a little pur and a sharp bite to his knuckles. “Pluto hates everyone and everything.” He lowers his hand. “Thanks for letting me bring them along, too. I know you’re not usually much of a cat person. I brought food and their litter box.” He gestures vaguely toward a small cardboard box he had kicked into the house and left by the door.
“Chinese would be wonderful. Let me pay. It’s the least I can do.”
