My Dragon Cave lair!! i drew this a whole year ago but i guess now is as good a time as any to post it lmao

They all live on the coast in this big cove (based on Devil’s Punchbowl in Oregon) and the surrounding woods and cliffs. At high tide the whole cove fills with water and the marine dragons hang out inside while the others go up to the higher cliffs.

As I had hoped, I was able to finish this yesterday, and I think it came out pretty well! For one, I finally managed to get a pale green for Shen Qingqiu's robes that I was happy with.

This is a tribute to a piece of fanfiction that I've read, oh, let's say several times - you know how some stories are just like a nice warm blanket you like to curl up in when the world is kind of terrible? - by the fabulous @blondejaneblonde; The Grand Unified Theory of Shen Qingqiu. Highly recommend if you're interested in watching a bunch of nerds try to run a school in a magical version of ancient pseudo-China stuffed to the brim with weird fuck-or-die nonsense.

Done mostly in watercolor, on hot press paper, with some additional work on top in alcohol markers and colored pencils, because I have real trouble getting good color depth in only watercolor on hot press-- it doesn't take as many layers as easily. But I didn't hate myself quite enough to try to do all those tiny trim details on cold press. Nope nope nope.
