This is to all the people who say that Josh is a pederast, that Joshaya is promoting inappropiate relationships to kids and that it should be ended.
Although I don’t know if I have found the right words to say this, here is my opinion:
First of all, I would like you to think about your favorite ship. If you don’t have one, think about the ship you like most from your favorite tv show.

Okay, let’s continue.
I’m sure you love that ship. You love the way they look at each other, when they smile at the same time, the way they make each other laugh. The way they love each other. And obviously, I’m sure that they are the same age.
So now tell me, why don’t you accept that Maya looks at Josh at the same way that the characters of your favourite ship look at each other? Why can’t you accept the way that Josh looks at Maya? Why can’t you accept that they love each other? Because they really do. You can see it in the way that Maya looks at him. The way that Maya jumps on his back, the way that Josh lets Maya climb in his back and be the first one to know if he has been accepted in the NYU. You can see it in the way that Maya, in one of the first episodes, tells him that she’s in the long game and that Josh, a few months later without seeing Maya and without mentioning the long game again, tells her that he likes her, but the most important thing, he tells her that he’s in the long game. You can see it in the way that Maya asks him why he has let her hold on his hand and he answer that he don’t know it.
So, if all the ships on the tv shows can be loved and accepted by the public, why can’t they? Does it really matter that Josh is three years older than Maya? My father is two years and four months older than my mother, and during the four months that are between theirs birthdays, he is three years older than her. They started dating when my mum was seventeen and my dad was nineteen. And do you think anyone cared about those two years and four months of diference?
And yes, I know what you are probably thinking: Maya is very small. Yes, Josh is eighteen and Maya is fifteen. Yes, Josh has started college and he’s so many hours in the day with girls that are his same age. But have you seen Maya? Have you seen how smart he is? She can defend herself. And although she sometimes cry and she seems like she’s weak, she’s the strongest character I have ever seen, and her evolution is incredible. Why do you care so much about the three years difference if she is strong and intelligent and he respects her and cares about her? We are in the 21st century, does it really matter that two people take three years apart? There are more important things in a relationship than age.
Are you really going to judge a couple just because of the age difference?
