"The best camera is the one that's with you." -Chase Jarvis
Sunday I received a spontaneous invite to a rooftop party in Williamsburg. The view of the sun slicing through the cityscape was pretty epic. I was pretty disappointed that I left my camera at home but thankfully my iPhone5 was able to capture some of the details from this spectacular sunset.

Summer Vacation
Ahh...summer vacation. Can you think of anything that sounds more relaxing than that? Even on this gloomy New York City day the thought of the waves lapping over my feet with the sun on my skin makes me smile.
I've been working hard on my photography–ways to improve it through the lens and in the 'darkroom'. So, when the opportunity arose to ditch the city with a few of my favorite people I jumped onboard, camera in hand. All weekend long I took portraits of friends, landscapes, and the details of the trip. At the end of it all I can tell I'm improving but most importantly I can tell where I am making mistakes. This isn't a bad thing! This means that I will continue to improve. I'm excited to share the beautiful weekend with you.
Here are a few of my favorites! Check out the whole shabang HERE!
During my holiday weekend in Cape Cod I shot some footage of my friends with my iPhone. I was hoping to compile a video that would be memorable for the crew and valuable practice for the future. I'm excited to share the results with all of you. (And it's only 2.5 mins!)

Happy 4th weekend everyone! I'm off to the sandy shores of Dennis, Cape Cod to celebrate the holiday with friends. I hope you get some R&R this weekend as I snap away by the beach.
Enjoy!

I don't know about you, but I wish the Empire was dress for Pride every night.

Ahh, Sunday. I am so thankful for this cloudy day. Time seemed to slow down and I was able to read, take a stroll in the neighborhood, and have a delicious meal. First stop was The Brooklyn Art Library where The Sketch Book Project is housed. In short, its a library of sketchbooks that people locally and globally fill with whatever they want. You can get a free membership card and take out books by various topics. Meghan and I spent a couple of hours looking through all the interesting and hilarious things artists shared. The library doubles as a paperie and there so many cute notebooks and book binding supplies. With our creativty energized we walked to dinner at The Lodge. Overcast skies and all it was still a beautiful afternoon.

Last night's One Year Anniversary Party of Get Up and Ride was a blast. It was nothing but love for owner, Felipe Levalle and staff. The event was held at Williamsburg's King and Grove Hotel on the rooftop bar, Upper Elm. Even with a brief rain storm the event was a big success.
The staff shown above (James, Catalina, Felipe, and Lisa) are filled with energy, fun, and creativity. I, for one, am so excited to see what they do next. Keep your eye on these Brooklynites, they are on their way up!

Brooklyn got that much cooler one year ago when my friend, Felipe Lavalle, started Get Up and Ride. Tomorrow we'll be celebrating all of their success on the rooftop of the King & Grove Hotel in Williamsburg. I'll be there, camera in tow, capturing every moment. Hope to see you there!
Details on the Get Up and Ride First Anniversary Party can be found here.
Try Something New
I've been following Florabella Collection for some time now. She recently completed her first video of her family vacation. The beautiful moments she captured with her kids inspired me to embrace the micro-moments of love.
I've felt inclined to shoot video occasionally and now with the help of Instagram Video and summer filled with adventure I'm looking forward to trying my hand at a putting one together.
Wish me luck!
Gigi Dylan has been my muse ever since her birth last summer. Every few months I've done portrait sessions with her and my friends, Lea and Bob, which you can read about in a previous post here. Capturing her beauty and innocence over the past several months has brought me to the realization that I love photographing kids. Kids are so uninhibited wearing all their emotions on their face. When I'm able to catch their smile or curiosity it is a true reward.
Gigi's first birthday is this August and I've designed this music festival inspired invitation for her musical party. Lea is able to easily pop this image into an email and send it to all of Gigi's friends and family members. Not only is it easier for attendees to reference later but it is totally green!
I'd love to continue to offer this service to future clients as well. If you're interested in custom made invitation please contact me here.
Have you ever used a custom invitation for your child's birthday party?
The days are long and that means more opportunities to capture beautiful memories. Seize the day and book your photo session today!
Official Summer
June 24 2013
Friday marked the official start of Summer and I couldn't be happier. The warm afternoon light, long days at the beach, and tons of outdoor activities make this season my favorite.
This photo was taken last Summer when I traveled with a few friends to Dennis, Cape Cod, the quiet and beautiful beach town where my friend's family has owned a house for over 50 years. Dennis' slow pace is the perfect getaway from the big city. There is time to detach from the world, enjoy the company of friends with good food, and tons of sunshine. Next week I will be returning to The Cape for the holiday and I'm looking forward to another opportunity to capture all many more amazing memories.
I hope you all have a Summer filled with many wonderful memories.
Before another New York City Spring shower I was able to squeeze in a shoot with Olivia and Noel. Even though temperatures were in the high 80's Olivia was a breeze to work with. I think I was more hot and bothered than she was at 7.5 months pregnant.
We started the day with a hair and makeup session in the studio. I kept her look natural since she typically doesn't wear much makeup. Then I used a tapered curling iron to give her beautiful beach waves.
After a few shots indoors the three of us stepped outdoors to the Brooklyn Bridge Park for a splash of sunlight. Olivia was scaling the rocky shore line and making Noel and I very anxious but the shady locale turned out to the be the best scene of the day.
Thanks to Olivia & Noel for being such an easy going and fun couple to work with. That little boy is pretty lucky!

I believe it was four years ago when I shot this engagement session with Kelly & McLain. We ran around Delray Beach all afternoon and they were happy to get creative with me. Today I decided to give these photos some love and re-edit with my Rad Lab Photoshop extension. Coincidentally today is also Kelly & McLain's wedding anniversary. I'm so happy to see this wonderful, active, and adventurous couple are still loving life together. Happy Anniversary Kelly & McLain!
Once again I had the pleasure to photograph Miss Gigi Dylan and her parents over the weekend. I first photographed Gigi at three months old but now, at ten months old, she's developed quite the personality. Gigi attends music class every week so for her upcoming first birthday her family will celebrate with a music festival themed party – Gigi-chella. We'll use the photos for her invitation which I'm designing for them too. As you can see this little heartbreaker really knows how to rock out!
Wednesday I hopped on my bike and met up with the charming and knowledgable Felipe, of Get Up and Ride. Together we are collaborating on a photography tour of Brooklyn and he took me to some pretty stunning spots. The day was sunny and gave us a beautiful glimpse at the season ahead. We can't wait to give you our local perspective on all that is BK.
