Have you guys ever noticed Lady Noir’s pupils are slightly less dilated than Cat Noir’s?

Ooohhh, there’s another interesting detail that distinguishes them.

According to this blog of a cat owner that explains a cat’s behaviour; we see cat’s pupils are an amazingly expressive part of their body language repertoire.

“Narrow pupils mean your cat is feeling aroused by anger, fear or pleasure.”

So… it’s no surprise to anyone how snappy Marinette acted in that suit. Both towards Misterbug, practically bossing him around on how to use the Ladybug miraculous and also towards the enemy - mah girl didn’t even hesitate on putting a Cataclysm straight on its face.

“You may also see the pupils contract suddenly if she’s about to “kill” her favorite toy (or your toes moving around under the blankets).”

However, Lady Noire also spent most of the episode teasing Misterbug and taking pleasure out of his adorable reactions.

On the other hand we have Chat Noir - Adrien’s charismatic superhero persona.

“Large cat eyes signify two emotional extremes — excitement or fear.”

As we all know, Adrien’s civilian life isn’t an easy one. He’s only 14 and already has great responsibilities (something not even some adults would be able to pull off) - modelling, special events and interviews he needs to attend to, fencing practice, chinese lessons, and all of that while also having to bear a very heavy emotional weight; after losing his mother, his father shut himself out completely, away from the public’s eye - this indicates that Adrien would eventually be the only target for all those media vultures since he was the only one to leave the house for one of his many photoshoots. This boy not only had a good way of grieving, he also had to keep all his feelings inside and act the way his father wants him to.

And, despite all of this, he still wants the normal life of a normal boy, so he attends a public school and the he made some real friends that genuinely care about him - however, all of this under the surveillance of his very, very protective father whose threat of pulling him out of his new “happy place” lingers in the air in case he missteps.

Adrien is never given a break; he is forced to wear a mask, to be what his father wants him to be, an image that everybody loves - something that isn’t really him.

So the only time he really gets to be himself to the fullest, to feel emotion, is when he’s Chat Noir. 

When’s he’s Chat Noir he does stuff Adrien Agreste wouldn’t ever be able to do.

Like snapping at his own father (and then backing off in fear after realizing what he just did.)

Or flirting with every girl that catches his attention.

But let’s not forget that behind that mask, there’s still Adrien. Chat Noir is just the part of himself he has to suppress.

“On the other hand, wide cat pupils may indicate anxiety.” 

 After all the suit is a reflection of its user’s personality.

Adrien is a tamed house kitty.

But Marinette is a free, wild spirit. A stray cat.
