Every word she said set a different fire ablaze in James’ body. He knew he shouldn’t take this so seriously. After all, this girl was a complete stranger. He would most likely never see her again. Still, being challenged in such a way made him angry. “I can handle an opinion, sweetheart. I haven’t left yet, have I?” James said and looked at the second martini, judging heavily. “Careful, wouldn’t want you to drown in all that alcohol.”
Maybe it was her anger or her pride or even the alcohol coming up with the words but Adriana didn’t feel remorse like usually would. She just couldn’t help herself, even though he was a complete stranger and despite the fact that every word made him angrier, she just wanted to keep going. “I’m surprised you haven’t, although your mentioned hostility is getting kinda boring.” She paused. “At least I’m not drowning in my demons,” the brunette retorted.
