Dua Lipa's new self-titled album- Dua Lipa

She is my favorite new singer- she is the future of pop! Shes got an interesting low husky voice. Closest to a mix of Pink and Adele's voice.

I heard her first on Martin Garrix's song called "Scared to be Lonely"- which I love!. So I checked out Dua Lipa's new album. I was a bit disappointed because I was craving more faster paced electronic music. I ended up giving it a few more listens and now I'm a fan! The album has some sass with a good mix of ballads and medium paced tracks. Her voice definitely saves some of the mediocre tracks.

My favorite tracks off the album, somewhat in order.

I was playing at Coachella week two and my manager was watching the show from the lighting desk out in the crowd and these two girls came up and started dancing in front of him, like really full on. And he was like ‘god damit it I need to get these girls out of here,’ so he went to kick them out and realized it was Taylor Swift and her friend that Gigi Hadid girl. Their security guard went up to him and goes ‘you’re not kicking them out.’ It was all pretty funny.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review

Spoilers below ... ... ...

Last night, I saw the latest Star Wars movie after marathoning most of the past Star Wars movies. Episode 2 and 4 are my favorites of the older films. I think that it was a mistake to watch the previous movies beforehand. I would recommend people to not re-watch any of the Star Wars because the second half of the movie is basically a rehash of episode 4 for a new generation of Star Wars fans. Although I am disappointed in the movie not having an original plot, I understand that it is a kids movie owned by Disney now. So I can’t be mad. The villains are not impressive. I liked Kylo Ren’s costume, but the unmasked actor was kinda ridiculous looking. And the main bad guy looks like he came out of a Lord of the Rings movie...       

The positives are that I really enjoyed the first half of the movie. Daisy Ridley is a star! I am very impressed with her acting. John Boyega was great as well! These two had great chemistry and it made for a pretty entertaining experience.   I’d rate this movie a 7.8/10.

Excerpt from Sara Bareilles's book Sounds Like Me where she talks about performing Brave with Taylor in 2013.

“Despite the overall blur of touring, there are all kinds of moments that remain distinct and intact. In August 2013, I got an invitation to song my song Brave with Taylor Swift at her show in Los Angeles. Besides a flattering invite, this was an opportunity to become “Super Auntie” to my two young nieces, who I’m incessantly trying to convince of my coolness. At our afternoon rehearsal area, I learned I would be entering the stage from the elevator platform at the top of a giant staircase. I had never entered any kind of room from an elevator platform, so this simultaneously made me feel nervous and like a Power Ranger. After sound check, my family and I got ready for the show to watch Taylor. She danced and sang and bubbled over onstage like pink champagne. My nieces were in heaven.

It was then time for me to go backstage to get my in-ear monitors on. The stage manager escorted me to the back of the stage and I stood on the giant metal platform, waiting for my introduction. My heart was racing. I heard the drum introduction of Brave begin and then the ground beneath me started rising upward. Taylor called out my name on the microphone and then….

Nothing.

I couldn’t hear ANYTHING but the deafening roar of thousands of tweenage apocalyptic screams. I frantically listened for any music at all. I knew the drum had started but literally no other sounds could pierce the wall of “woo.” I couldn’t hear the beginning notes of the piano over the crowd, so I ripped out my earpiece to try and hear the speaker system of the venue at least. No good. All I could hear was an even louder girl-euphoria. It was time to start singing, so I basically just picked a note out of thin air. I could immediately feel in my throat muscles that it was the wrong one, and I’ll never forget the panicked look on the music director’s face on the side of the stage that just said “Nooooooooooooooooo!!” I tried a bunch of other wrong noted for the whole first verse but finally hunted down the right ones by the chorus. I was mortified, but I couldn’t do anything except keep singing for the fans cheering us on. I smiled and danced with Taylor at the end of the catwalk and pretended everything was fine. We got through the song, she hugged me, and I came offstage and felt awful.

I felt like I had embarrassed myself at a moment when I’d had something to prove. It was like getting called up to play with the “big boys” (or girls!!) and I felt like I hadn’t been able to hold my own. I was caught up in the drama of feeling exposed, until Taylor lightened my load. After the show, she came into my dressings room and was graceful and sparkly and complimentary and only celebrated our performance. It was almost like saying “Yeah, sure, that one part was whatever, but the rest of it was so good!” She shared a story about a similar situation she’d had on an even bigger stage with even bigger artists, and by doing so, let the air out of my mistake. By treating the mistake with so little weight, it actually became weightless. It was a learning moment for me, and I took note, and will put that into practice again.“
