Things to do on Island – in Brief!
Grand Cayman is the largest of the Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. George Town is the capital and is also a major cruise-ship port and site of the ruins of Colonial Fort George. Beaches and vibrant coral reefs are the island’s hallmarks. The Cayman Islands has a tropical wet and dry climate, with a wet season from May to October, and a dry season that runs from November to April. Seasonally, there is little temperature change. Grand Cayman and its sister islands, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman were discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1503. These islands boast beaches, coral reefs and an abundant marine life having so much to explore, it never ends. Being a tourist, it can be hard to select your activities when you’re on a vacation timer! Not to worry, here’s a quick list of things to do when in Grand Cayman.
1. Hate water? Can’t Swim? Glass bottom boat Tour is what you need! A glass-bottom boat is a boat with one or more sections of glass, or other suitable transparent material below the waterline allowing passengers to observe the underwater environment from within the boat. Imagine the site of a shipwreck without having to go in the water? The view of marine life from the comfort of your boat is now an experience you can cherish for a lifetime!
2. Horseback Beach Riding How cool is the sound of that? Rode a swimming horse before? Well now’s your time. No experience is necessary to explore this ride. Well trained guides provide you with all the necessary gear and safety instructions. Take in the exquisite natural beauty of the island on this unique horse back tour. Ride along the beach or take that refreshing dip in the crystal-clear blue waters of Grand Cayman – still astride your horse!
3. Stand Up Pedal Boarding Apart from the traditional surfing, Grand Cayman has the perfect water for paddle boarding. Stand up paddle boarders stand on their boards and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water. This is an exciting activity surprisingly inexpensive and easy to learn. SUP is a fun way to play on water with the added benefit of a full body workout! Several rental companies on island provide you with the full gear and safety instructions before you venture into your fun filled adventure!
4. Healthiest cheapest mode of transport? Ring a bell? Sure – Bicycle it is! Ride your way through to the island’s extraordinary culture even if you’re here for a day! It is not only a great physical activity but also a boundless way to explore the island at your own pace. Just make sure you have the right safety gear and good bikes. ‘Adventura Cayman’ has some good selection of bikes and are fully equipped with just what you need on that ride!
This is only a short list of things to do if you’re limited on time and don’t know where to start. The island is an adventure that’s worthwhile itself so have fun and just ask the experts if you need to!
