It's Time...
It’s Time…
A friend of mine who writes her own blog about her bikes, trips and life experiences just posted after a long hiatus. Why? Well, like me, she didn’t have much to post about bike, trips but she did about life. Hence, why I haven’t posted anything in months. You see I feel if I have nothing pertaining to riding why write? This post is an update as to why I am NOT riding. Read along or “X”out…

Good Bye...
Good Bye…
It’s been awhile since I have posted anything here. I guess it’s because I have been frustrated. Been sick since October, but really feels like I have been knocked out since my motorcycle accident back in Oct. 2015. Seems my body doesn’t like the month of October. I went through a thyroid storm. Diagnosed with Graves Disease. No big deal, millions get this right? Well, of course it…

One thing I find interesting? ADV riders seem to have in common is the love for their pets and life. I have no real tangible evidence but I would say many of us who ride have dogs. Having said that want to find my soft spot? Loving my dogs and then having to say good bye. I work in an industry where death and dying happens everyday. Human beings I mean. I cope with that professionally but I feel that perhaps witnessing all that pain and suffering comes out in me when I lose a dog.
Over the last 3 years I find myself grieving the loss of a dog I cherished. In June 2014 it was my crazy Beagle, Cruizer. May 2015 my beautiful dog named Sierra who needed some elderly rest and head on over the rainbow bridge to hang out with Cruizer. Today, February 24th, 2016 I had to let go of my determined to live dog Xander. 16 almost and has been living with congestive heart failure since 2008.
Blogging and FB help me move on. I appreciate others sharing their own stories and pictures. I loved my dogs more than people some would say and it hurts like hell when it’s time to say good bye.
Xander from yesterday, Feb 23.
So, this simple post is just for me to share the 3 loves of my life that I will always remember and cherish. My dog family are now all together. I have to believe that and a virtual friend from my FB posted this…
Beautiful Image in a time of need
And of course who doesn’t love and need to watch this video…one that I watch every time one of my dogs pass away.
My collage of all three of my dogs who have rolled over the rainbow bridge. This is for all that have lost a furry friend….my heart aches and breaks but I will remember that for 16 years my life it was full of crazy dogs antics and the love I got back is indescribable.

Since I can’t ride I have too much on my hands to pay attention to very controversial topics.

I am hoping to get a few weeks away on holiday this year. Response I get from my colleagues. “What? You’re dreaming, no one gets more than a week at a time and if you get that you’re lucky.”

I have been called strong
I have been called strong
I miss my bike. I really do. I can’t ride my F8 or any bike for that matter.
This was my last and almost first real ride since I busted my tibia. About a month ago I went out and it was like a breath of fresh air. My last 2 years have been challenging to say the least. Someone sent me message about how “strong” I have been throughout these years.
My diabetes has gone from Type II to what…

It’s been a year since my crash…

Never did get surgery for these breaks and now my foot is about 3 degrees out of placement and although I did a ton of PT, hired a personal trainer I am left with a leg that does not perform as it did prior to the accident. I went hiking in the White Mountains a few weeks ago and it was at that time my leg weakened quickly to the point it felt like a peg leg.
The fall foliage in New Hampshire was amazing though and worth every limp. ;-)
This past weekend was my first decent ride since I have moved to Connecticut. Went out with some gals from New England, Minna and Victoria.
We went to a famous biker cafe in Village Falls, CT. Never knew about this place until yesterday. Located in the upper Northwest corner of CT. Great waffles and tons of riders.
After breakfast we headed to Mount Greylock in Massachusetts. I like living up here. Great places to ride or drive and you can hit many states all in one day. Easier to get around than being on Long Island. Different riding than when I was in BC, Canada. Miss Canada, but adjusting to being back in the USA.
As I headed out in the morning the temperature was 37 F. At the end of the day it was 73 F. My perfect temperature is 58 F ;-). Beautiful ride from Bloomfield, CT to Village Falls.
My conclusion after this weekend is this…perhaps my leg needs more time to get stronger or this is as good as it gets. Riding my F8 doesn’t feel the same. I don’t have the same confidence I had prior to the break. It’s always been a tall bike but now? Feels taller. I don’t have the strength in my right leg to even really hold the bike up if it leans to the right. Makes me feel a bit anxious which I never felt before all of this.
She looks bike eh? I will keep at it. See if I can get my leg stronger and ride with confidence. Who knows maybe it will take another year as some say. Felt great to get out and meet new people. My job still owns me until probation ends in January. I love the work I do but not 100% I love where I work. Still going through changes. My life has been so up and down since 2014. I want to feel settled but for now the only thing constant in my life is my partner of now almost 2 years.
One year later and my leg? It's been a year since my crash... Never did get surgery for these breaks and now my foot is about 3 degrees out of placement and although I did a ton of PT, hired a personal trainer I am left with a leg that does not perform as it did prior to the accident.

I haven’t posted for a while mainly because I am still not riding. Into my 8th month of recovery from my motorcycle accident back in October 2015, I am regaining strength and flexibility day by day. Yet, as hard as I have worked especially since March 21st, 2016-the day I became weight-bearing, I feel I have such a long way to go.

My short helicopter video Here's a short video I made celebrating my 50th belated birthday gift. Cross learning to fly off my bucket list. Interesting how many who ride seek other adventures as well.
