Fired without notice in India — do employees actually have legal rights?
A lot of employees in India assume companies can terminate anyone anytime without consequences.
But after reading more about labour laws in India, that doesn’t seem completely true.
Apparently:
many employees are entitled to notice or notice pay,
employers are expected to follow due process,
and forced resignation situations can sometimes be challenged legally.
It also depends on whether the employee qualifies as a “workman” under the Industrial Disputes Act or works in a managerial role.
Interesting part was that:
verbal termination,
no written explanation,
no inquiry,
and no notice pay
can sometimes create legal complications for employers.
Has anyone here dealt with sudden termination or HR pressure tactics in India?
Would be interesting to hear real experiences around:
labour court matters,
notice pay disputes,
forced resignations,
or wrongful termination situations
