ok so.. apparently thereâs a bug going around that it makes you block (or makes it appear that you blocked) your mutuals and that they blocked you in turn. iâm just letting you guys know that if it appears that i blocked you, that is 100% not the case and is just tumblr being funky again.
reblogs are ok and appreciated because holy shit this website is a hellhole
EVERYONE PLEASE LISTEN. DO NOT IGNORE THIS.
Article 13 is going into itâs final stages of voting.Â
If this gets through, it will allow many, many companies to abuse and misuse this article to take down as many memes, fan works, and even other independent creators on sites like YouTube, Facebook, and other websites INCLUDING Tumblr.Â
THE FAIR USE LAW AND SAFEHARBOR LAW WILL NO LONGER APPLY IN THE U.S OR IN OTHER COUNTRIES.Â
IT HAS ALREADY PASSED IN SEVERAL OTHER COUNTRIES.Â
WE CANNOT ALLOW THEM TO TAKE AWAY WHAT WE BUILT FOR THE INTERNET SO FAR.Â
So here is what you need to do to drag this article down.Â
1. Spread the wordÂ
I canât stress this enough. The more attention this gets the more people we can get to take this down.Â
2. Make your own contentÂ
Make your own content on the matter and make sure it is clear to others that Article 13 is bad for every internet user involved.Â
3. If you live anywhere in Europe, contact your MEPsÂ
Ask them if they approve of the article and why. If they do approve of it, try to convince them in a clear, reasonable, and most sensible way possible that this law is BAD.Â
The article itself is way to vague about what itâs conveying to its people.Â
Saying that as long as the use of said internet memes or content is good as long as itâs in âgood faith.âÂ
We cannot let some shoddy government tell us what we can and cannot post.Â
FREE SPEECH IS A HUMAN RIGHT. NOT A PRIVILEGE.Â
Hereâs a video on Article 13 that Film Theory made on the matter. It will explain things better than I can.Â
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GbXHrj8k7dg
THE VIDEO LINKED IS FROM YESTERDAY (24/11 2018) THIS IS ALL FRESH PLEASE SPREAD!
To my fellow âmericans that donât understand Article 13 and why itâs important, watch the video. MatPat breaks is down in a very easy way to understand why itâs important and why it will affect all of us. You might think ânaw, Iâm not in the EU, doesnât matter to meâ (which is a crappy way of looking at it in the first place) but guess what, it will.
Also, I feel like people are pushing the importance of this to memes, but honestly it goes SO well beyond that.
This is really bad for me and for us!!!

History Burning Down: A Brief History
The Library of Alexandria: With its 700,000 books, the Library of Alexandria was one of the worldâs most important libraries. Despite the myth that it was destroyed in a single big fire, it actually suffered a general decline for centuries. It was first damaged when Caesar laid siege to Alexandria and set fire to his fleet in the nearby harbor. A few centuries later, the rest of its contents was lost during the taking of the city by Emperor Aurelian.
Barnumâs American Museum, New York City, USA, July 1865: The fire burned away the museumâs impressive collection of taxidermy â monkeys, lions, elephants, zebras â and, more tragically, of live animals â snakes, pigs, dogs, even a kangaroo, an alligator, and two whales. Most perished in the flames, although a few escaped into the streets, some never to be found again. For years after, people mourned the loss of Barnumâs collection, one of the greatest in New York City up until that time.
The Garden Palace, Sydney, Australia, September 1882: This iron and glass architectural masterpiece was built for the Sydney International Exhibition of 1879. After the exhibition closed, the palace became the first mining and technological museum. 3 years later, a fire totally consumed the building and the artifacts it contained, in just 40 minutes.
Portuguese Language Museum, Sao Paulo, Brazil, December 2015: The museum âwhich translated the soul of the Brazilian peopleâ according to SĂŁo Paulo governor, Geraldo Alckmin, was one of Sao Pauloâs most popular landmarks. A major fire damaged the building and killed one firefighter. The installations were restored and are to reopen in 2019.
National Museum of Natural History, New Delhi, India, April 2016: The fire destroyed rare specimens of flora and fauna, including a 160-million-year-old dinosaur fossil. Prakah Javadekar, Indiaâs environment minister, called the accident âtragicâ and the museum âa natural treasure".
Museum of History, Aberdeen, USA, June 2018: The flames damaged a cultural landmark in Kurt Cobainâs hometown of Aberdeen. It included items from the Nirvana singerâs early life. In the words of Aberdeen Fire Chief Tom Hubbard, âThe museum was just a little gem, people would travel from all over to see it.â
War Museum, Chania, Greece, July 2018: The blaze deprived Chania, considered one of the most beautiful cities of Crete, of one of its historic buildings. âWe have lost a rare architectural monument which was of great value to the cityâ said Hania Mayor Tassos Vamvoukas.
Museu Nacional, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, September 2018: the countryâs most important museum and its collection of 20 million objects have been consumed by fire. This represents âincalculable loss for Brazilâ, according to its President Michel Temer.
Want to prevent history from repeating itself? These are the signs to look out for:
Political leaders arenât putting enough money into their countryâs museums and buildings: Prior to the National Museum of Natural History burning down, buildings in India had long been plagued by aging infrastructure. In the month leading up to the fire, two other buildings had already collapsed. Since 2014, the Museu Nacional hadnât received its full annual $128,000 maintenance budget; this year, it received only $13,000. The museumâs curators had to crowdfund repairs to termite damage in one of the most popular exhibit halls. In fact, the country continues to slash research budgets. In 2017, cut science fundings were cut by 44 percent.
The museumâs safety conditions are poor: The fire of New Delhiâs Natural History museum was likely worse than it needed to be. Inoperable pumps in the building meant firefighters had to rely on the water in their tanker trucks for the first two hours of the blaze.
There are less and less visitors and/or staff members: Ever since the Library of Alexandria, cultural landmarks being less and less populated has been a sign of their decay. In 2015, the Museu Nacional, which burned down last month, was forced to close its doors temporarily because it could no longer pay its cleaning and security staff.

Clearly, the root of most fandom drama with writers is that many donât truly comprehend the very simple fact that we as fans in all actuality have no rights and are entitled to nothing except sitting on our butts and watching or reading.
um queen literally what are you talking about if someone putting out content is making money off it they literally have a duty to the people PAYING THEM FOR THEIR STORIES to not be righteous dicks and realize they are not creating their works in a vacuum and do right by the fans who our giving their time, money and attention to something they absolutely do not have to do any of that for creators, especially ones with large fanbases that are making their living off of would be nothing without fansÂ
Absolutely. They do not create content on a vacuum. But they are not entitled to create it for your taste only. No like, no see!!! Simple!!
Fans ensure shows get the nod for the next season, get higher ratings and maybe even higher budgets etc etc⌠but that doesnt mean we are entitled to hacmve the show exactly the way we want. If we do get it, lucky us!! If not, use that remote.
Once a show gets popular, the writers donât suddenly start taking notes from the fandom. They donât abdicate their control of the plot and the characters that they created to a group of people who believe they know those creations better than them. If they want to keep that level of popularity theyâd be smart to stay aware of the general mood of their fandom (not the specifics for copyright/lawsuit reasons), if they want that project to continue*. There is a larger audience that consumes/enjoys their works that also need to be satisfied; more than that, there is the studio/publisher/network that MUST be satisfied, as theyâre the ones paying them for their stories.Â
And if the fandom and the audience falls away, then those writers/creators arenât destroyed - they go on to another project. They keep working. And they create a new story for a new audience.Â
The only âdutyâ writers/creators have is to make what they are driven to create. When you pay for that work, the contract is fulfilled and ended. You donât have any right to the continuation of that work.
Creators donât owe the fandom shit.
* - Thinking of George Lucas and the Star Wars prequels, which are vilified by the older fandom, yet championed by the younger fandom. Each work will find its audience, and that audience might not be you.Â
Creators donât owe the fandom shit.
Commenting a second time because I thought of this before I posted, and it speaks more directly to what @starsapphire is saying, and because this argument gets used a *lot*:
When you pay a creator for content, you pay for *that work*. And ONLY that work. You read the thing, you watch the thing, you eat/play/wear the thing, you like it, and you pay for it.
Thatâs the end of the contract. Â
The creator has fulfilled their end, you have fulfilled yours. Â If you become passionate about The Thing, your passion does not give you license on future works.
Let me repeat:
Your passion does not give you license on future works.
The creator gets to continue making The Thing the way they like.  You have the choice, each time they produce, to buy it or not.  If you love the show but hate the action figures, you donât buy them.  If you love the music but hate the videos, you donât watch them.  Your passion for The Thing does not give you the right to say âBut I wanted the rest of it this way!â You paid for That Thing. The contract is ended.  If the further content dissatisfies you, take your money away.  If the creator values that money or attention more than their creative vision, then they get to choose to follow the hive discourse.  But itâs very much their choice.Â
Creators donât owe the fandom shit.

Brazilâs oldest and most important museum, The Museu Nacional, is consumed by fire
The museum held a priceless collection. 20 million objects, Egyptian mummies, Greco-Roman artworks, dinosaur fossils and the oldest human fossil in the region, may have been destroyed in the fire that started on September 3rd 2018. âIt was the biggest natural history museum in Latin America. We have collections that are over 100 years oldâ said Cristiana Serejo, one of the museumâs vice directors.
The loss is already being compared to that of the library of Alexandria. According to anthropologist MĂŠrcio Gomes, âWe Brazilians only have 500 years of history. Our National Museum was 200 years old, but thatâs what we had, and what is lost forever. We have to reconstruct our National Museum.â The antique building, once the emperorâs palace, was deemed an âincalculable loss for Brazilâ by its President Michel Temer.
