I have a sadness shield. It keeps out all the sadness and it’s big enough for all of us.

#1 Things are looking up. I just took this photo because I was driving down one of my favorite Farmington back roads and blaring music as loud as I could to feel something. Anything. I saw this house and I had to get out of the car. Something about the color of the leaves or the way the sky fades from indigo to sky blue. I'm not 100% sure why I did it, but I'm glad that I did. I've been dealing with a lot of depression over the past year. I've dealt with it before but never this badly. I feel like I'm sitting on one of those couches that suck you in and you can't move, but I'm being forced to watch the world go on around me. You feel badly about it for a while, but then you just stop caring. Nothing matters anymore and you hurt the people you love most, and you just don't care. I don't want to be that anymore. I need something to pull me out of that couch. I need to document my life day by day so that I am forced to actually do something with it. I've thought about this before. Maybe starting a New Years resolution of a photo a day? I don't have time to wait for a New Years resolution. I want to get off of this metaphorical couch right now. I'm ready to stand up.

If it’s broken, fix it. If you don’t like it, change it. And if you want something, take it. Don’t complain about it, just do something about it.

Just imagine this situation: Her mom didn’t know her daughter was gay.
