one of the most refreshing and endearing things I found about aelswith and alfred is how unabashedly horny they are about each other lol. he’s a cheater and they are certainly a relationship with flaws but at their foundation they always seem to just genuinely love each other. like the obstacles they face never really translates to their regard for the other. and like it also gives a fresh perspective on how the physical/sex can translate as a valid form of ‘love language’ and connection rather than written off as a perverted form of the transactional and valid lust.

I agree with everything you’re saying, like one of the first things that also drew me to Aelswith and Alfred was the fact that they are so horny about each other in such a genuine way, like they’re both truly attracted to each other and clearly love each other but also deeply respect one another. Even when they argue and disagree, the love and affection between them is still so present and I think this is part of why I actually like them so much because they have disagreements and differences of opinion. There’s something so realistic about the way they clearly don’t agree on certain things but regardless they still have this tender love and affection for each other. Like in s3 there are so many scene where they’re disagreeing but yet the affection is still there.

I also really love your point about sex being a valid form of love language, because it is! I do love to headcanon that Aelswith and Alfred first connected over their sexual compatibility, there’s just something about the way that they both enthusiastically engage with each other in the show that makes me think that from the moment they married they were super sexually compatible. And I really like that thought because I feel like it’s rare to see an arranged marriage couple really enjoy sex with each other and have a connection with that.
