The inflection in Aemond's voice when he talks to Helaena on the balcony made me twitch. I feel like this was the only time we were ever going to see whatever "soft Aemond" is. He didn't argue, he tried to be gentle, he tried to plead with his sister knowing that he approached the earlier conversation in every incorrect way. Even when he threatened her with the consequences of accusing him, he didn't sound angry.

I'd say this is what happens when he takes time to reflect on his actions, and though Helaena had more than enough reason to lash out at him, she was still delicate with him. I think of all the people around him, she was one of the few who didn't look down on him. He knew he fucked up by being rough with her, and though he tried to justify it, it was interesting almost seeing him shrink when speaking to her privately.
