hello, this is an independent & private sideblog for aether astrophel from genshin impact. crowned by me, thoaria. feel free to call me ari / aria / or whatever variation of my name you have in mind ! in his main verse he is the prince of the abyss, brother to lumine @/aestrophi. if you’ve read my rules @/cindrelle or @/hyvoc, you don’t need to send in for them here. in fact, my rules are mostly the same on those two blogs &, thus, apply here, too. follows will come from either cindrelle or hyvoc. the only amendment i will make to my rules is this:

although i write aether as 19, i will not be shipping him with any characters that have the adult models or their age is more than one or two years older / younger than aether’s. he is an adult, but i will be handling him as if he’s a minor for the most part. whether he is mentally older or not, there are some situations i’d like to avoid completely.

“ chaos devices !! ” her grin hasn’t faded.  “ i like to collect them. i tried cooking with them, but they didn’t really add anything – sort of a metallic aftertaste ?? which works for some things, but not enough to need a ton of them, ” xiangling explains, “ so i just keep them on a little shelf !! i think they’re fun. ” and very good paperweights.  “ it’s not really risking my life, anyways, ” she corrects, drawing deathmatch like she’s ready to dash over and fight right this second, “ if things start to get too bad, i’ll just run away to safety until i’m ready again !! ”

        “ w - wait, wait. ” she likes to collect them, she likes to cook with them. with such weird cooking taste, could it be that she’s --- that cook ? he’s heard her name in passing while in liyue, mostly accompanied by both concern at the ingredients used and surprise at how good the dish still came out. “ let me come with you then ! i’m sure you can handle yourself fine, i’d just be really worried if i knowingly let you go off. ” and his ruin guards. aether doesn’t even want to consider the untold horrors that are about to be unleashed upon those new models posed as mere relics of another age. his abyssal blade appears in his hands, though, of course it’s so that he can help. even he can’t beat the snot out of a kid.

he had moved in an INSTANT, snatching the human out of his free fall and setting him down on solid ground.      ( to protect was an instinct, drilled into the very fabric of the yaksha’s being. ) it was only then that xiao stepped away —— though quickly, as if prolonged contact brought him some measure of DISCOMFORT. the words of gratitude were met with brief silence.

❛   you jump without consideration for where you may land.   ❜  xiao replied tersely.      ( words punctuated by a SHARP exhale. )    ❛   i find it surprising you have managed to live this long.   ❜

        this long. and how long do you think ‘ this long ’ is ? he almost asks, beaming smile in place of those unspoken words. hands clasp behind his back and aether bends a bit at the hip, braid swaying as he hums --- “ but you saved me anyway, didn’t you ? even if i’m a stupidly reckless mortal ? ” contracted to a dead archon to protect liyue, though aether hadn’t even called out his name. isn’t that how that worked ?

        “ liyue’s vigilant yaksha is kind. ” too bad they’re enemies at the end of the day. should this one appear at lumine’s side one day, when this little journey comes to a close, that may be an act looked upon with regret. “ duty or no duty. ”

he looks familiar, but xiangling’s not sure from where. just for politeness’s sake, she waves back with her trademark enthusiasm. and the concern for her safety is sweet, if unnecessary. she’s all too used to people underestimating her, but she’s got vital materials to grab from in there; who’s to say aerosiderite wasn’t the key ingredient she was missing ??  quickly distracted, xiangling gasps with excitement, leaning forward and grinning. “ i love ruin guards !! ” wait, that came out wrong. “ i mean, are they still there ?? i like to collect their chaos devices. ”

        “ c ... chaos devices ? ” he’s less suspicious than confused, at this point, so that’s really saying something. aether had more so been trying to protect the sanctity of the abyss order’s mission, but now it seems that their ruin guards were in danger, too, by this young one. could she really hold her own ? aether is the last to underestimate someone based on size and appearance, although ... at least her general excitement aids him in keeping up the act. “ yeah, they still are there, it’s just ... ! why risk your life for chaos devices ? ”

✧ ー his initial reaction to the given statement is no reaction. ❝ .. ❞ the prince stands before him in all his glory  ー or lack thereof, in nótt’s eyes. ❝ none of your concern. ❞ monotonous voice finally responds after silence had engulfed the two, their little staring contest being the only real response to one another. ❝ counter question. what is your goal? ❞ there was not much know of the exact innerworkings of the abyss order. certainly not shared with the reapers, but he knew from their track record that whatever they were planning, it would be catastrophic.

        “ none of your concern, ” he mocks in kind, abyssal blade appearing out of nowhere, then twirling upon nimble fingers. like tevyat, the abyss wasn’t unified under a singular banner, and, like teyvat, it provided those in charge with an unnecessary amount of stress. this land is doomed and celestia is a lie --- why go through the effort of protecting it ? “ i’m sure your superiors would be proud, reaper. but i’m not them, am i ? we can keep this between us, and no harm will come to you. ”

        “ o - o h, i didn’t mean ... ” yes, he did. “ that’s what happens when you k - kill someone ? ” he already knows this, but aether has shown himself already to be a wee little lamb. an act that his sister would never buy even though they might. he allows the bloodied weapon to slip from his hands and watches as his assailant falls to the ground. ah, oops.

        “ hehe, sorry ... i couldn’t resist. i would actually very much like a glass of wolfhook juice, please. ” it was worth a shot, wasn’t it ? the drinking age in mond is supposed to be eighteen, but aether knows he’s always looked younger than that.

aether is several hundred if not thousands of years old but he literally doesn’t curse, and that’s actually a sign of maturity in my books. anyway fuck maturity.
