today’s dilemma is knowing that appa should be a  BIG  dog for obvious reasons but then also knowing that aang would live in like a studio apt in the one modern verse i have rn

Full Name:  Aang  ( Patola Aang* ) Age:  12  ( during the series ),  can vary with verse Birthplace:  Jongmu  ‘ Southern ’  Air Temple,  Patola Mountain Range,  Air Nomad Territories  ( Jongmu Temple,  Patola Mountain Range,  Tibetan Autonomous Region,  China* ) Current Location:  Really it changes all the time Ethnicity:  Tibetan Nationality:  Air Nomads  ( Chinese Tibetan* ) Gender:  Cis male Pronouns:  He/Him Religion:  Tibetan Buddhism  ( though not named as such in the series,  inspiration for the Air Nomads’ religion was drawn from Tibetan Buddhism ) Living arrangements:  Due to his nomadic lifestyle,  he keeps his few possessions in a saddle on Appa and moves from place to place Languages spoken:  Classical Chinese  ( the language used in the series ),  Mandarin Chinese*,  Tibetan*

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE.

Hair color:  Dark brown,  but it’s usually shaved Eye color:  Gray Tattoos:  Airbending master tattoos;  five blue arrows,  one that goes up the spine and terminates at the forehead,  a pair that go down the arms and terminate at the top of each hand,  and a pair that go down the legs and terminate at the top of each foot.  ( if you’ve really never seen them before,  here’s a ref someone drew on devart ) Piercings:  N/A Clothing style:  Traditional Air Nomad clothing.  A loose orange layer over a yellow long sleeve shirt;  orange sash at the waist;  loose yellow layer over brown pants;  brown boots.

BNHA VERSE.

GENERAL STATS.

Name  ( last,  first ).  Patola,  Aang Age.  15 - 16 Class.  1A Quirk.  ‘ airbending ’  ( ability to manipulate air ) Hero name.  Avatar Religion.  Tibetan Buddhist Languages.  Tibetan,  Mandarin Chinese,  Japanese

BRIEF BACKSTORY.

Aang was born in the Jongmu Temple in the Patola Mountains of Tibet.  From birth,  the elders knew Aang would be a great hero,  and they trained him as such.  He had excellent control over his quirk by the time he was 12.  When it came time for the UA Entrance Exam,  the monks sent him away to Japan against his wishes.  But,  for his people,  Aang passed the exam with mostly  ‘ rescue ’  points,  but he also got some points by eliminating bots while in the process of helping his fellow applicants.  Living in a small apartment  ( until the move to the dorms )  with a smartphone that’s a few generations old,  Aang then started the year in UA’s class 1A. 

PERSONALITY.

Aang is a pacifist at heart;  he doesn’t want to hurt or kill even when doing so seems like the only option.  He’s optimistic and likes to see the best in everyone,  even if they are villains.  He’s also a reluctant hero,  and mainly goes through with the hero thing for his people back at the monastery.  That being said,  he’s very goofy,  and will likely find a lot of the new tech stuff  ( i.e. snap/chat filters,  etc. )  amusing.  He may not know much about memes but he could probably be the subject of some new ones.

OTHER DETAILS.

– Aang doesn’t have many possessions.  He doesn’t feel the need to buy things for luxury,  so he really just has what he needs for classes and personal hygiene.  The most important possession he has is his glider,  which was handmade by the monks.  He also doesn’t have  ‘ casual clothes ’  at first,  just his school uniform and clothes he brought from home  ( i.e.  his classic yellow and orange outfit ).  As the year goes on,  he will buy a few basic outfits. – His morals are strong.  Even if it puts him in danger,  he will avoid causing serious or fatal injuries to others.  He’d give himself up before letting harm come to a group.   – He’s very skilled with his quirk already.  Though he is pretty goofy and doesn’t want to seriously hurt anyone,  he is a force in combat.  It’s not uncommon for people to underestimate him,  but it’s a mistake. – He does still have his arrows,  but they’re just markings he’s always had  ( not tattoos ).  He also still shaves his head and maintains a vegetarian diet.  – His quirk is affected by his emotions.  If he’s too emotional,  it can trigger his quirk and his arrow markings will glow,  like in the show.  The marks also glow if he puts in his maximum effort into using his quirk,  though he can’t maintain that state for extended periods of time. – His hero  ‘ costume ’  is just his yellow and orange outfit from the show,  plus his glider.  He didn’t want any extra weight from armor plates,  and he’s always been most comfortable in his robes anyway.

in modern settings,  or whenever a surname is a norm in society,  aa/ng’s full name will be  patola,  aa/ng.  tibetan people typically do not have surnames  ( sources:  x / x ),  but may choose to use their birthplace in place of one.  since the southern air temple is located in the patola mountain range,  aang will take that name when necessary.  by convention,  the surname does come before the given name like in many asian cultures,  but aa/ng will still go by aa/ng whether he is in a society that uses surnames or not.

hi followers !  this is a small psa about how i run this blog.  though i’m flattered that i’m getting new followers,  to keep my time here stress-free,  i will only write with people i am comfortable with already  AND  all ic relationships will be plotted before threads are written.  if you want to interact here,  you need to follow and contact me on my main blog.  i won’t consider threading with you otherwise.  i’m sorry if that seems strict,  but rp is a hobby and this is a sideblog for a reason  ( i.e.  aa/ng is  NOT  my main chara ).  since i don’t have pages,  if you have questions about aa/ng,  feel free to just ask.  thanks !
