During the 120.000 km service I was advised to change the rear discs and pads. After getting the prices from the Saab service I decided to go for a pair of vented Brembo discs and the proper pads which I purchased from a webshop for a far better price than the factory kit offered by the service.

I had them installed in a generic service that I trust. They look awesome and I know I can rely on them.

120.000 km service

Thanks to the new Varta battery I installed when I bought the car the winter passed with the car firing up on the first engine turn every time.

In the beginning of February I passed the 120.000 km mark and I had the full service done with Mobil 1 0W40 oil, DOT4 brake fluid, oil-, air- and fuel filter plus a full belt kit replacement. I also had the driver seat heater replaced as it stopped working at a given point. This whole service was 160.000 Ft including taxes.

I bought the car knowing that the auxiliary heater is broke. After changing the wiring mentioned in an earlier post the orange warning light came up on the dash when I started the engine still warm. In a weird way it didn’t happen on a cold start. Fuel consumption went up so I guess it was heating by burning diesel but it didn’t stop when it was suppose to.

I checked the service manual and user guide and the meaning of this light was not described anywhere. A quick way to loose the light and stop the heater from wasting fuel was to pull its plug on the right side (as you’re in the car) of the firewall. I had to pull out the red lever to the right and than I could pull the plug.

I am planning to replace the heater in the future.

A Dream come true

After a preliminary status check at a garage not from my office, and the stress of getting the money together we have finally bought the car we thought best suited my wife, myself and our future plans: The 2011 9-3 Aero SportCombi TTIDS!

The car has 118.000 km-s on board, it was manufactured in December 2010. Apart from a few very minor scratches it is in top condition. The interior has a few flaws, like the broken cup holder and a little fading in the leather of the driver seat. 

The guys at saabszerviz.hu have been really helpful and I am thankful for them. We have found a list of problems that have to be attended. A worn stabilizer link, a small leak at the crankshaft seal and a common fault on 9-3s: power loss on the main circuit.

I will give sometime for the crankshaft seal and see how bad it is. The oil loss is not appreciable, so I might wait until the Dual Mass Flywheel breaks and the gearbox has to be taken down (it is a manual 6). The stabilizer link and the power cabling is being fixed right now. Hopefully it will be ready for a first long drive in the weekend. 

I’ve got my hopes high.

Vehicle registration for a foreign car in Hungary - Külföldi jármű forgalomba helyezése

Az előző autóm külföldi rendszámmal használtam. Eladáskor magyarországon került forgalomba. Itt van pár pontba szedve, hogy mi szükséges ehhez: 1. Műszaki Vizsga, környezetvdelmi besorolás és a papírok honosítása egy helyen történik.

2. Regisztrációs adót a Környezetvédelmi adatlap alapján állapítja meg a Vámügy. A 2005-ös 9-3-as Euro4 diesel Saab regisztrációs adója 95.000 forint volt 2015 Októberében.

Szükséges a külföldi forgalmi engedély és a törzskönyv, akkor is jó, ha már ki van vonva forgalomból.

2.1 Megállapítják a Vámtarifaszámot. Azonnali ügyintézés.

2.2 Megállapítják a regisztrációs adót. Egy munkanap.

2.3 Az Árpád Híd-i OTP fiókban vagy a Lajos utcai UniCredit fiokban befizethető az adó.

2.4 A banki igazolással vissza kell menni a Csillaghegyi út 25. alá és kiállítják a regadóról az igazolást.

3. Okmányirodában forgalomba helyezik. Szükséges az összes fennt említett papír.

4. Amint mindez megvan ki lehet vonni forgalomból külföldön, vagy lehet azzal is kezdeni, ebben az esetben szükséges a forgalmi engedélyt és a törzskönyvet érvénytelenített formában megtartani és bemutatni az fenti ügyintézés folyamán.

This is my previous car, a 2005 9-3 TID 120 Vector. I owned it for a little more that two years. I sold it in October 2015 with almost every problem fixed that I knew of. Feel free to ask any question about running it.
