A conversation with a colleague today reminded me that because of school I’ve put off a lot of personal projects I want to get off the ground again.

Aeternus Press @ C4 Comic Con
This weekend Aeternus Press hosted a table alongside local graphic artist Warren Alejandro-Yarema at the Central Canada Comic Con (C4). It was a bit of an unplanned event but we were able to throw together a pretty great table and had the opportunity to meet some incredibly talented artists, writers and comic book fans.
All in all, I'd say C4 in Winnipeg was a pretty great success!
The table next to ours featured the amazing duo behind the beautiful webcomic Terra - they were a great couple to work next to and I have to say we learned a lot from their experience (and I know what I'll be reading through over the next few weeks). If you're a fan of sci-fi and Mass Effect go check them out!
My table partner (who was there supporting Warren's work) did an amazing job spreading Aeternus love and introducing the world to Warren's Star Wars themed holiday cards. Warren's work can be found on his website or on Saatchi Art.
C4 was wonderful to us and I'm so glad for all of the great people we got to meet. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us! We loved the random photo ops, giant moustaches and all of the positive feedback we received about our projects. I have a feeling this will lead to an exceptional 2015 and I can't wait to share everything with you.
We look forward to C4 2015!

Café Launch Success
Yesterday I played host to friends and family as we celebrated the launch of Aeternus Press at a wonderful local coffee shop, the Travel Mug Café. This event gave me the opportunity to present all of the work myself and my team or artists have done over the past year and allowed our guests to get a sneak peak into some of the exciting projects that you can expect to see over the next several months.
Hosting an event like this was a little daunting at first, but with the help of the staff at the café and the enthusiastic support of those around me, the evening went off completely stress free.
As a special treat for the evening, we ran a little contest for those who attended: anyone who bought a drink was entered into a draw which was done at the end of the night. The winner will be immortalized in one of our titles by having a character created based on them.
The night’s winner was fellow writer, Chris Hunter! Look for a future announcement when Chris’ character is revealed.
Throughout the evening I had an opportunity to answer several questions about the various stories that Aeternus Press will be releasing in coming months. I’m excited about all of the different projects we've been working on, to name a few:
Aeternus: A post-apocalyptic take on the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll. The original art for Aeternus came first from American artist Nate Johnson and is now being completed by the exceptionally talented Anita Kajika.
Aventura: Our second project, Aventura is a sci-fi story loosely inspired by J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan. Aventura will be released in late January (or early February) and is being brought to life by Christina Silliman.
Hero’s Folly: What graphic novel site would be complete without a super-hero story? Based in an alternate history Earth, Hero’s Folly tells the story of hero’s Vengeance, Aether and Melody as they try to stop the end of the world. Art by Robert Rath.
Dreamscapes: This summer we will be launching Dreamscapes, a horror / sci-fi story that will be painted entirely in water-colours by Italian artist Alice Callegari. Dreamscapes will be a tribute to several other creative projects I have worked on in the past.
Rope of Sand: While not officially an Aeternus Press title, we will be celebrated the anticipated release of Rope of Sand this spring. Rope of Sand is the brainchild of a collective of Winnipeg artists and writers brought together by graphic novel creator GMB Chomichuk. A pass-along fantasy story, Rope of Sand features the work of over a dozen local writers and artists, myself included, and will be printed with the assistance of McNally Robinson.
All-in-all, I feel that the evening was a huge success. Everyone who came had a great time and the feedback we received was both uplifting and useful. I want to extend my thanks for everyone who attended and to the staff at the Travel Mug who made the evening possible. I look forward to hosting similar events in future and be sure to come check us out this spring at the Central Canada Pop Culture Expo (details to come)!
