no one understands how important she is to me in the first movie! henley was fierce and brave and adventurous and smart and funny while being sweet and kind and romantic and thoughtful at the same time! she was an acrobat, a circus performer (said by isla in 2013), a hacker, an anarchist, a girl who did not bow down to traditional values (suburban life with kids and husband) and just used her talents to help the ones who needed it while just wanting to have some fun and be seen! and in the newest movie she is suddenly a ‘mom of the group’, a wife with kids (i do not want to shame mothers in any way, i just point out that being a stay-at-home-mum isn’t something henley would do) and just a completely different character! a marriage? nah this is my hippie right here she would confess you her undying love and walk around with her heart on the sleeve but she would NOTTTT get married she is too, as i and isla (back in the good days) said, an anarchist for that

the crows as alt subcultures:

- kaz: trad goth. obviously inspired by his signature dark outfits, but specifically I think he would enjoy the classic look of trad goth and the perk of intimidating most people around him.

-inej: might be a hot take, but I think she would love techwear. her main goal with clothes is mobility and practicality. and those cargo pants could hide so many knives

-jesper: scene. is this even a question? he would make and wear so many kandi, and his hair color/style would change constantly

-wylan: punk, especially for the politics of it. because of his dad, he hates authority figures and he is ready to fight people on his beliefs at any moment. hes a doc martens platforms warrior

-nina: romantic goth, because she loves feeling like an evil medieval queen. her makeup takes hours and it absolutely slays. those corsets are doing gods work and she wears them for the sole purpose of messing with matthias

matthias: grunge. he sticks to the classics, lots of flannel and band tees, but only of the bands hes obsessed with. and he will get into arguments over music

i know we’ve already talked about how wylan and kaz are character foils for a multitude of reasons, but have we considered: kaz and wylan both mimicking human behaviors and coming off as unsettling because they’re able to pull it off really well.

both of them have an otherworldly kind of presence that’s just off enough to feel but not enough to really pin down. kaz appears in rooms without warning. wylan stares at people for too long. both of them remember details about others that they shouldn’t. for different reasons, but the underlying discomfort remains the same. give me unsettling wylan to go with unsettling kaz. let them be creepy together. i beg you.

Is the Eye trustworthy ?

The barely any information and the absolute faith, zero proof part makes it questionable. That's why it was actually clever to say in the beginning of the second movie that Henley lost faith because it set her up as someone who saw through the facade, who was smarter than the rest of them, who realized, faith in any organization without proof is dangerous. They could have continued with this story but no. (They kept her as a surface level character.)

It set up the mysterious organization as a big question mark. You cannot know unless they reveal it to you. Or... unless you do your own research.

How interesting it would have been if the plot of this movie actually would have been Henley trying to take the Eye down because she figured out they are shady. That she spent the last ten years collecting evidence, hacking systems, running from the police and the Eye itself, trying to change how the shady organization used out skilled magicians for it's own gain, reveal it and make a difference?

Believe without proof or foolishness with desperate need to be something?

The third movie could have answered the question they asked in the first one.

kaz - in public, he sits pin straight, but in private he lounges around on expensive chairs like a slut. because he is. lounge away boy.

inej - she sits like a polite cat. she also likes to crouch on the floor because it's fun. will lean on you if you sit next to him.

jesper - will sit in the most extravagant way possible because he is extra and takes up space and i love him. keep taking up space please. thank you.

wylan - he lies on the floor. curls up in corners. leans on other people. clingy. he likes cool tiles because they feel nice.

matthias - manspreads. leans forwards and places his hands on his chin.

nina - also manspreads. lounges but not as sluttily as kaz just to prove that she's extra comfy. you will know she's comfy. blankets everywhere.
