                                   YOU CAN’T WAKE UP, THIS IS NOT A DREAM                                ( you’re part of a machine , you are not a human being )

                At first, she thought it was just a nightmare. The really bad kind, the kind that feels too real for comfort. Of course being alone wasn’t helping her situation, it wasn’t the first time she’d had one of these terrible bad dreams ---- in fact, they had been going on for quite some time now. Still, Nina couldn’t bring herself to talk to anyone about them. She didn’t think anyone would listen, or care, or worry; not that she had anyone to talk to in the first place. She was almost completely positive that the feeling of being sick would leave eventually ---- until now.

                Ever since Zaiden got arrested, Seraphina found it hard to stay at the little house they had found near the palace. Luckily she still had her room stealing skills, which came in handy at night time. The palace had comfortable beds and even if she refused to leave the room, she knew there were people outside. It didn’t do much, but it helped in a way. So when the Phoenix woke up rather abruptly from her nightmare, her first concern was if her screams had been loud enough to wake someone up. Thankfully, they weren’t. Standing up from the bed, Nina could feel her body much warmer than the usual, and even covered in sweat ---- it was odd, strange to say the least. She was lava and fire incarnated, she shouldn’t be sweating; nor should her hands and legs be shaking. She was strong enough to stand up on her own. With a deep breath, the girl made her way towards the bathroom with both arms wrapped around her torso.

                 As she entered the bathroom, the lights turned on on their own ---- a response to her presence, of course. She could see her reflection in the mirror and gasped at the sight; there were bruises all over her forearms and collarbones. “What the...” She murmured while turning her back to the mirror, only to find more bruises ( bigger bruises ) where her wings should be. And it hurt. It hurt more than anything. 

                   Shaking the thoughts away, the Phoenix decided to try and rub away the bruises on her skin, starting with the ones on her back. It burned, which only made Seraphina grow more and more anxious. She shouldn’t be burning, she couldn’t; it wasn’t Burning Day. It was impossible, or at least it was until green eyes caught sight of a pile of ashes in her hand, which led to another scream. Followed by another when she caught sight of ashes covering the bathroom floor, as well as its walls.

                   “Nina.”

                   She knew that voice, she knew it like the back of her hand and for once, it scared her. It scared her even more to be able to feel his presence. Tears instantly began to form in her eyes, hands covering the girl’s ears. It didn’t work, she could still hear his voice.

                   “You can’t run from it, Nina.”
