Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
Happy moon day to all who celebrate
This is your reminder to prep for Moon Day on July 20th.
MOON DAY MONDAY THIS MONTH NOT A DRILL!!!!!
unfiltered honesty and late night convos.
You’re walking into a new chapter where God will show you why you had to hold on.
Man, I hope so.
Do me a favor - right now, today, start a list of all your crazy obsessions, the things that get your heart pumping, that wake you up in the middle of the night. Put it above your desk and use it to guide you, to jumpstart your writing each and every day.

This is an interesting idea!

There comes a moment in life when choices can no longer be postponed. A moment when you come to understand that people change, that effort is not always rewarded, and that even the things you have fought hardest to preserve may not be worth the cost in the end. Life is not always fair. In truth, it rarely is.
Out of pride-or perhaps out of love-we cross oceans to offer an apology, to extend a hand in peace, only to have it left hanging in the air. We pour our strength, our time, and our hearts into relationships, only to be rejected or abandoned. We do everything we can to keep old friendships alive, while those we cherish quietly stop answering, as though we had never mattered at all.
We change our eating habits, discipline our bodies, push ourselves through endless hours of exercise, all in the hope of becoming more acceptable in the eyes of others. Yet the moment we indulge ourselves in company, we are branded weak, lacking self-control, unable to resist temptation.
When we finally walk away from a partner who has spent months humiliating us and draining every ounce of our happiness, we are called selfish. Weak. Unable to cope with a relationship. We are judged as heartless simply because the person whose actions left us with no choice but to leave has not yet recovered. "But they loved you so much," they say.
If we devote our time to friends, we neglect our partner. If we choose our partner, we are accused of abandoning our friends. If we carry a little extra weight, we are "fat." If we lose it, we are suddenly "too thin," perhaps even anorexic. Refuse to chase every passing trend, and you become outdated, unattractive, yesterday's news.
A woman is told she is not beautiful unless she fits impossible measurements. A man is made to feel inadequate unless his body is sculpted into perfection, as though only the beautiful deserve success. Work relentlessly, and you are a workaholic. Work less, and you are lazy.
Make your own decisions, and you are reckless for not seeking advice. Ask others for guidance and follow it, and suddenly you are incapable of thinking for yourself. Drink too much at a party, and you become an embarrassment. Stay sober, and you are called dull, a spoilsport who doesn't know how to enjoy life.
No matter what we do- no matter how much effort, sacrifice, or sincerity we pour into our lives-it is never enough for everyone. Someone will always criticize you. Someone will always search for your flaws. Someone will always insist that you have accomplished nothing.
But life has never been merely black and white, good or bad. It exists in the countless shades of grey between them. It rises and falls. It flourishes, falters, heals, and begins again.
In the end, what others say matters far less than the voice you choose to believe. Do not allow their judgments to define your worth. Do not let anyone diminish you or persuade you to abandon your own path. And above all, stop trying to please everyone.
Because that is the one goal no human being will ever achieve.
Interesting how close to home this hits tonight
True. Trying to please everyone is a GUARANTEE recipe for failure.
i think the most beautiful thing about being a human is the capacity to change
One million percent.

This would have had me crucified on tumblr 10 years ago but maybe we are ready for this conversation now:
If you are a socially anxious person, you have to socialize. Your panic/anxiety attacks will only get worse and trigger more frequently if you constantly avoid contact with The Public. Not saying that you need to be a social butterfly- but there is a genuine problem with not being able to order your own meal at a restaurant. And it cannot be solved by always having someone else do it for you.
This is a PSA to about 3/4s of the Portland Youth populace
everyone who reblogs this and is like "I ordered my own tea this week" or "I only barfed once when I had to give a presentation'- you are doing amazing sweetie. Have patience with yourself, you are relearning a skill so difficult that people get 4 year degrees to do it professionally.
That reminds me of that one time an, let's say work acquaintance, told us about her son (I think in his last year of high school or something at the time) who was generally old and capable enough to do his own thing and handle his own affairs but this one time he messed up and forgot about a school assignment and for some reason reacted very strongly, had what I'd recognise as an anxiety / panic attack, physical symptoms, you know. Important note that she knew from experience that it actually wasn't that big of a deal and that her son would just get to finish the assignment later, probably not even get a deduction of points or what's it called.
And she was there for him, calmed him down, offered to drive him to school in her car - but she refused to write a sick note or any of the sort.
He begged her to let him stay absent for this day but she refused, saying that running from the problem won't solve it and facing it tomorrow or next week wouldn't be easier, in fact it would get harder every time.
And I wholeheartedly agreed, speaking from experience, some in the audience were like "but that poor boy, if he wanted to stay home so badly ..." And I'm like nuh-uh, you'd only teach the nervous system to act up a little more every time in order to avoid the uncomfortable thing, much better strategy is to face it ASAP before it gets worse.
I got a lot of reasons to be afraid of the world, but I still push myself, I still challenge my system to make progress, to get back to what we were capable of,
We will get back that, it's not something with a deadline or an amount of time to complete, but we will work forwards to the goal as much, and when we able.
