Resilience
Sometimes I wish I didnāt have resilience. That I could fade into the shadows like others whoāve made the choice. Everything in my heart and mind says fight. But my body... My body be ready to leave. To go anywhere but here.Ā
To be my higher self again. To leave these earthly shackles behind.Ā
I wrote this because I am having money issues constantly. One step forward and the calculation of this oppressive system adding two more steps backward to what life already gurantees. I have support. I know that. I have abundant love. I know that. But sometimes it feels like A LOSING GAME. Like I am winning and losing all the time. My high stays for 30 minutes at a time and then for the next two hoursa theres nothing but pain and stress grounding me.Ā
Resilience is a blessing sometimes. I couldnāt entertain the thought of taking my life, but people around me have. Theyāve watched the strength be leached from them and thereās no there seems to be no turning back. I have had people commit suicide. And attempt it. And tho my heart stays shocked at the impact that carried, I never would have guessed the shadows they carried. The pain they stayed engulfed in. The moment they chose to end their earthly suffering.Ā
I guess I will keep marching for our fallen warriors. Such lively spirits with dragging shadows, I will continue. persist. to make your death more than a memory. to make your life turn into energy for me to keep moving. to keep taking steps. to keep progressing. I wont stop, because I canāt, but that doesnāt mean I have to do it reluctantly.Ā Ā

Annia for Miss Wisconsin, USA 2021
Hello Community of Milwaukeeans, Allies & Friends,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Annia or Cocoa and I am fundraising to pay for my campaign as Miss Wisconsin USA 2021. The first hurtle, $1,000 for the registration and consultation fees for my styling team, was a tough one but with support from my trybe, I was able to register before we got to May. As transparency goes, I started this campaign late. I'm not privileged, so I was not able to scrounge up supplement income (estimated around $3,000) to pay for all of these technical things that go into being in a pageant. I don't have a lot of time to fundraise for this event, yet I am determined to win this. Not only for myself, but for my community and my future trybe. With your help, I could really make it to this event. Time is of the essence! Support however you can. Ā
During my time as Miss Wisconsin, (From May 23rd to December 31st), I will be using my platform to the best of my ability. With this national platform, I want to invest in healing spaces, fun spaces for my community. I am currently waiting to hear back from a healing space grant Ā to implement just that in the Harambee neighborhood. I plan to create alternative housing methods that are accessible and affordable for POC & Queer folx. I am a part of Brave Green Wave Trybe, a queer black space fundraising and developing housing alternatives. I also plan to advocate, visibly, for the legalization and decriminalization of marijuana in Wisconsin. I am currently helping fundraiser for a community member who is facing unjust charges based on his past offenses.
Ā I claimed my local title. I am representing the Midtown Neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI. (Someone already reserved the Milwaukee County title.) I was raised on Fratney St. I was born at Saint Mary's Hospital and I've lived between Harambee and Riverwest for the majority of my life. I have relatives who live on the Northside of Milwaukee. I have friends who live on the Southside. I feel like I am connected to all of Milwaukee regardless of this competition. We are not just statistics. We create culture and invoke warrior energy every summer.
Ā I am speaking this into existence, for I am more than prepared to take on the responsibilities that come with this role.
Ā Please check out the many fundraisers I have posted in this linktree for ways to contribute to my campaign or work overall.
Ā Reach out personally to learn more. Peace & Blessings, Annia https://linktr.ee/anniadagoddexx

can someone please explain how itās possible that every single month this year ended as quickly as it started and yet this whole year has felt like an eternity
with both covid-19 + the primaries going on Iāve heard ppl say some truly awful stuff about āboomersā as if all old people are rich conservative white men who deserve to be wiped out, so I drew up this graphic feat. stories of some of the elders Iāve met through work and activism.
āboomerā is not a coherent class. now more than ever it is imperative that the working class stands together, while celebrities sing silly songs in their mansions we must organize to meet community needs, regardless of age we are all comrades in the same fight!
The flip side of this is the spring break give no shit young people are also not representative of their entire generation. You know what they are? Rich.
image description: two graphics with red and yellow background and text color schemes, and full color illustrations. the first is titled āElders are not our enemy: Working class solidarity with all generations!ā and has illustrations of 3 elders:
1. a Black woman with gray streaks in her hair, glasses, and a green cardigan, looking down with a tired expression. beside her, a text box reads:
- has worked at the same store for decades and never been promoted
- knows more than the boss but will never be paid what her labor is worth
- works multiple low-wage jobs to support children and grandchildren
2. a partially bald Asian man in a light blue shirt and tan jacket, raising a wooden cane with an angry/frustrated expression. beside him, a text box reads:
- has been protesting since the Vietnam War
- goes to city meetings to advocate against fascist local policy
- cannot believe weāre still dealing with this shit
3. a woman with short, curly black hair and brown skin, wearing a maroon shirt. her expression is concerned. beside her, a text box reads:
- lives on a fixed income
- new company bought her retirement community and wants to raise rent
- afraid she will end up homeless or have her heat shut off and die
the second graphic has faces of people of various ages, genders, and races with the text āGenerational politics can not replace class analysis: We are stronger together! No war but class war!ā end image description.
thank you so much for doing an image description! going to make a note for myself so i remember to do this for any future posts bc i need to do better on this front.
So tomorrow I go to court for having tried to shoplift $20 worth of food from a Walmart several months ago while homeless and starving... if I can't pay the $255 fine, the judge told me I'm going to be sentenced to 30-60days in jail! I'm so terrified!
I've only got $95 right now.. please if anyone can help me and spare even just a little money to try and get at least a little bit closer to the required amount and maybe he won't send me to jail..?
Please! I'm so scared!
