places in the fragile

a motif that i’ve noticed but haven’t seen anyone comment on. the places start out as sanctuaries, until trent finds himself in the “other place” (even deeper). from then on, the places are “dirty” and foreboding, and trent reminisces for the place he tried to save. towards the end of the album, there is no longer a place—the ugliness and suffering no longer surrounds him, but has become his being.
