The fact that she's been seemingly looking for him piques his interest; he's suddenly wondering if they've met before and he's just forgotten. It's likely. It's not like he ever meets anyone while sober. He could've met her yesterday for all he knows.
"Well, you found me," he gives her a grin and takes a drag off the joint perched between his fingertips. He's likely only allowed to smoke in here because of the generous tips he's been sliding the bartender. "What can I do for you, sweetheart?"
Eve barely keeps her expression from faltering from the smell of smoke and the name sweetheart. It's nothing less of what she'd expect, considering his reputation. Eve has done her research. It's one thing she's pretty good at.
Eve keeps a sickly smile on her face, wrapping a strand of her hair around her finger as she pulls out her phone. The screen lights up with a picture of a woman. Red hair, green eyes. Fairly pretty. "Her name is Jeannette, but everyone calls her Jenny. She's been missing for five days and the last person she was seen with was you, Nikolai. Care to explain that?"
He's pretty sure he's not directly responsible for this. That being said, he doesn't actually remember. He remembers talking to her, sure. He remembers inviting her back to his place. What he doesn't remember, however, is her response, or anything that came after. He could've killed her. It wouldn't have been wildly out of character for him. But, it feels unlikely. He's only killed two people before, both of them accidents. When it's intentional, he calls in a hit and lets someone else do the dirty work.
It's more likely, in his opinion, that he set her up to fail. How many women had he sent out of his penthouse apartment at 3 AM, trashed out of their minds, to stumble home? Best case scenario, she got hit by a car. RIP Jeannette.
"And, what? You think I'm a serial killer or something?" He laughs in disbelief, and his lack of empathy does nothing to help his case.

" My job. " Ada Wong doesn't hesitate to answer truthfully, though keeping it relatively cryptic. She brushes herself down, idly checking a device in hand, before lowering it. " I wouldn't recommend staying around here. " She puts it as a side comment. Despite how others sometimes see her as cold and uncaring, she does give fair warnings to help others survive. What they do with her information - well. That's not her problem. She won't make it her problem. That's for the enigmatic heroes. Or so they seem to hold themselves. It's much easier to look after oneself than others.
" There is a way out back that way. " Ada points the way she had come through. " You would be smart to take it before things get... messy. " She still had time to retrieve what was asked of her - a virus sample. The whole place is on the verge of an outbreak; which was caused by her employer to give her a way in. She has a time limit - get the sample, delete all data, get out. Whatever happens after - not their problem. Not as though she agrees with it, but money is money at the end of the day.
" You have fifteen minutes before the proverbial shit hits the fan. Up to you what you decide to do. "
He puffs up his chest to look intimidating, though, honestly, he's pretty sure hes going to back down with literally any pushback. The woman addressing him seems confident and sure of herself, like she knows exactly where she's supposed to be and what she's supposed to be doing. He knows his bluffing is only going to get him so far.
"Okay, well, maybe whoever sent you here failed to mention it, but this is mob territory. Nothing happens here without the go ahead from my family."
For all he knows, she could be working for his dad. It's not like anyone ever kept him in the loop, and with good reason. Nikolai's not much of a business man, or a particularly intimidating figure. Barely 25, he's still just some dumb kid. As much as he'd prefer to be taken seriously, he's unwilling to make the responsible decisions necessary to prove that he can handle it.
But, maybe this was an opportunity. He could do one useful but easy task, like scaring some girl off their turf, and it would shoot him right to the top of the hierarchy.

[This is a nuanced question. It's important to him that he be physically attracted to his partner, but it isn't particularly important to him that they be traditionally attractive. He's interested in a wide range of people, you don't have to look like a supermodel to catch his eye. He's really not particularly shallow.]

[I mean, he has a lot of non-exclusive friends with benefits and other hook ups. If it's serious, though, I don't think he could do an open relationship. He gets very jealous very fast if he's really into someone.]

[Yes and no. He doesn't develop crushes frequently, he would prefer a casual one night stand type of lifestyle over really dating, but when he does occasionally get a crush it's immediate. He knows right away that they're the one.
He doesn't really have friends because he's an asshole and when people really get to know him they don't want to hang around. He'd probably tell friends if he had any.]

[As far as hook ups go, not particularly. He just sort of goes off vibes. If you're being too fake and clearly just trying to get close to him because of his money and power, he's not interested. He likes chill, down to earth, types who'll just sit in the corner of the club and smoke with him.
As far as dating goes, he still likes them pretty chill, but intelligence is a must. He wants someone who can talk at length to him about all their opinions and beliefs, not just eye candy to hang off his arm. Bonus points if they're not into the clubbing/partying scene like he is. It's not a requirement, he just thinks it's very appealing when people have wildly different hobbies and life experiences to him. He likes them a little bit innocent and naive as far as drugs and crime goes, but at the same time he likes them to know enough in other realms to teach him something new.]

4; On that note, there's a massive trigger warning for those topics. Nikolai is nearly always high and nearly always actively consuming drugs while interacting with other muses. Mostly weed, but occasionally other things. When he's sober, he's worse, with violence and aggression issues.
I write him as a villain; he is ultimately meant to be a bad person who isn't going to get a happy ending because he doesn't care about other people. There will be topics of se/xual assault present, primarily in the form of coercion, but not graphic depictions of it. Dennis from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is one of my biggest inspirations for Nikolai's personality, so if you've seen IASIP you know what to expect. I don't intend for these themes to be any heavier or explored any deeper than they are in IASIP. These habits might be mentioned, particularly in headcanons moreso than threads, but not written in detail or portrayed as "sexy."
5; His canon, the story he was originally written for alongside my boyfriend's protagonist OC, has a science fiction / cyberpunk setting. Things like cybernetic body modifications and androids are prevalent in his home setting. If your character is already sci fi, or if you want to make a sci fi au, we can absolutely write in his canon verse. Otherwise, it's very easy for me to just tweak his lore so that it's a normal real life setting. Nikolai himself is a perfectly normal human, no sci fi augmentations.
6; This isn't really a rule, but I don't have a real life face claim for Nikolai yet and fandom gets weird things in their head about feminine/androgynous characters. Nikolai is not a lanky white twink. He's buff; he's kind of a gym bro, to be honest. He is also not white! He's mixed, his father is white but his mother is Brazilian and also a mix of latina, indigenous, black, and white. He's fairly light skinned, but visibly a person of color and has 3b curls.
